The Setting
Due to a prank by one of our Fae friends, the Aqua Springs property now has a large forest of apple trees. The front of the main building is partially hidden by the trees, which have also fused with the building itself. There are also many trees behind the building, with paths leading to the various areas of the resort.
Enter through the main doorway, and there are four doorways to choose from. The door leading to the
lodge is next to the one leading to the men's locker room. Next to the entrance to the women's locker room, there is an indoor entrance to
Gwee's Pet Spa. The front wall of the entry room, facing outwards, is made of glass. Between the two hallways that lead to the locker rooms is an information desk with an NPC attendant (usually Jessi or Haley) to answer any questions you might have. Some Aqua Springs merchandise also offered for sale at the information desk. There is a small
display area for artwork along the sides of the entryway.
Down the hallways are restrooms, shower stalls, and a large locker room. Another hallway has recently been added. It leads to
Gwee's Pet Spa, allowing owners to drop off their pets without going outside. On the other side of the lobby is a double doorway which leads to the addition to the building, where the
lounge is located.
Gwee's Pet Spa now has an indoor bath, which is large enough for most animals to sit comfortably in. There is a hallway connecting this and the main building to the playhouse, with a door going outside to the playground.
The locker rooms have doorways that lead onto the
pool deck. Behind the building is the deck, which slopes down into a shoreline entry into the pool, changing to cement just before the waterline. The pool gets gradually deeper as you move into it. Midway down the pool on one side are two waterslides, one large, curved, and one smaller, straight. On the other side is a swim-up
smoothie bar that is also accessible from the pool deck. At the far end of the pool are low and high diving boards. NPC lifeguards are placed at intervals around the edge of the pool.
A wide white stucco deck surrounds the
pool. The deck has lounge chairs scattered around for anybody wishing to sunbathe. There are also several tables with umbrellas near the
smoothie bar. There are NPC's walking around to take care of any problems you may have, as well as serve drinks from the
smoothie bar. There are a few apple trees around the edges of the deck, offering shaded seating areas.
On the side of the deck with the
smoothie bar, there are several carnival-type
games set up. There are NPC's in attendance to explain the rules and hand out any supplies needed to play.
On the other side of the deck, there is a fenced off area with a sign over a gate. The sign reads
Gwee's Pet Spa. The pet spa offers grooming, a special pool for pets (and their owners if desired), a sunbathing area, a grassy place for pets to run or roll around, and a pet food bar. All of the food at the bar is prepared by Chef Karrie's staff, and is designed to tempt even the pickiest eaters. In the grassy area there is some pet-friendly playground equipment. There are toys available for the pets to play with both in and out of the water.
Beside the pet area are two 4-person hot tubs. Each hot tub is inside a gazeebo for some privacy and shade. They have user-accessible controls for temperature.
The locker rooms also have a second door leading to a room between them, behind the entry room. This room has a hot tub large enough for ten people. The wall looking outside toward the pool is glass like the front wall of the entry room.
All hot tubs are open throughout the year. The
lounge has a large fireplace and rustic furnishings. Along one side of the
lounge is a counter where you can order refreshments, which include apple cider, hot chocolate, coffee, various seasonal fruit pastries, and a few lighter meal items. Apple pastries are the specialty, due to the quantity of apples grown on-site. Boxed lunches are also available to take to the
picnic areas. The walls are mostly cleared, being used to
exhibit artwork by local artists. There is also a locked case for smaller sculptures, crafts, or other artwork along one wall. Next to the case is a small raised stage with a podium and microphone for use during the Art Nights.
The trolley car makes stops at the main entrance, the side entrance to the lodge, and the
rental building, which is selling refreshments, as well as skiing, sledding, and ice skating equipment. Cold and hot drinks and boxed lunches are available there. There are tables, chairs, and benches scattered in a rough circle in front of the rental shack. In the center of the circle is a fire pit, where there is often a bonfire at night.
Behind the
rental building is
Amy's Garden. Spaces are available for anybody who would like to
display a sculpture outside. Ask Kits for details.
The
ice rink has been prepared for winter activities. One side is sectioned off for
curling, while the rest is open for free skating.
Ice rink closed for the season. The
ski lift starts near the ice rink. A stairway climbs the hill next to it. On top of the hill a small
pavillion has been built with picnic tables inside and outside. There is also a playground nearby. NPC's will be standing by to assist anybody who needs help.
Skiing closed for the season, ski lift available by request (to an NPC)Newer Areas
Through the forest, several paths have been cleared for hiking. They are all labeled so that nobody can get lost. Some of the paths are big loops, while some lead to
picnic areas. Most of them start outside the
lounge, but some begin near the
rental building. Color-coded signs are posted at the head of each trail, at various intervals along the path, and at each intersection. Maps are available in both the
lounge and at the
rental building for a small donation.
