idea WoG Q&A Thread idea Pester GMs here!
This thread is for all WoG related questions. I've had several questions fielded my way that I had utterly NO idea how to answer because I'm not working on things like the Ninja or Knight techs, etc.
SO, I'm making this thread. All GMs will be responsible on checking up on the questions posted here so that they'll be answered, and the answered questions will be posted in the first few posts so that no question has to be asked twice.
And if it is, you're just not reading now are you. stare

question WoG Q&A question
The question will always be quoted first, and the answer second. Each question will be seperated in it's own individual quote box.
Elemental Shifting Q&A Tabi Kat Question:Can you shift Elemental alignments? Clarification:Say you have a... *thinks* Air mage... ...who meets up with TFO... twisted Could their alignment then change? If they start learning from their priests and whatnot. Because then they'd be drawing from TFO...or something... sweatdrop themightyjello Yes. In that case at least. Since that IS the nature of TFO.
Healing Magic & Elemental Stones Nihilistic_Impact I have two questions. 1.) Just how effective is healing magic and how prevalent our npcs of this character class, also how skilled are these npcs? 2.) Just how many kilos of magic stones do I need for a steam engine to move a cart about a mile? Sey 1. The effectiveness of healing magic depends upon the rank of the mage. Initiate, Acolyte, Adept, Cleric, Sage, Avatar of Light. (There can only be 2 Avatars for each elemental, typically 1 Male & 1 Female) If you've got a life threatening wound, you're probably going to only find a Sage that can save you - and that's just barely. They'll have some sort of massive healing spell. For little and not so serious things, like bruises, light scratches, things that break the skin - sword impalements that don't hit any major organs... You can go to the initiate~clerics. The ratio of MAGICAL Healers to other people is 1:80. This is for the TOTAL population of Gaia - so there is a larger population of healers in a place like the Light Temple, then there would be in the desert of Hyphos. The ratio of total healers to other people is 1:40 - this includes all non-magical and magical healers. 2. 3 watermellon sized stones of the utmost purity.

*throws down the first question of the day*
Question:Can you shift Elemental alignments?
Clarification:Say you have a...
*thinks*
Air mage...
...who meets up with TFO... twisted
Could their alignment then change? If they start learning from their priests and whatnot. Because then they'd be drawing from TFO...or something... sweatdrop
*not quite sure how that would work if TFO is more like a void but whatever*
Extra notes and whatnot:So..yeah... Just curious. ninja

Nihilistic_Impact I have two questions. 1.) Just how effective is healing magic and how prevalent our npcs of this character class, also how skilled are these npcs? 2.) Just how many kilos of magic stones do I need for a steam engine to move a cart about a mile? I can field question 1:Healing magic's effectiveness in WoG depends on the character's rank in the Mage Heirarchy. There are 6 tiers - Initiate, Acolyte, Adept, Cleric, Sage, Avatar of Light. There can only be 2 Avatars for each elemental, typically 1 male & 1 female. If you've got a life threatening wound, you're probably going to only find a Sage that can save you - and that's just barely. They'll have some sort of massive healing spell. For little and not so serious things, like bruises, light scratches, things that break the skin - sword impalements that don't hit any major organs... You can go to the initiate~clerics. Light's the main elemental for healing, though with the "Focus" system that we're implementing, you can specialize in certain spell types for your elemental. SupportHealing Curing Buffs Barriers OffensiveSummoning Status Effects Enchanting Area of Effect These are just some of the potential focuses that we are planning on having. There will be a set number of focuses that a character can have, and once you reach a certain rank you can gain another focus. Not all of your focuses will be at their full potential, for example, when you're a sage, you may have 4 main focuses, and 2 minor ones that won't be developed past an Adept level. For Question #2, I say it depends on size and purity of the stones... You could easilly get 4 watermellon sized stones that are very pure - and they'd run the thing for a while.

Nihilistic_Impact Well that answeres the first part, no how prevalent our these healers amongst the NPCs? Oh *&@#%#@%& xd Sorry! Juggling AIM windows and multi-tasking... Not good for Mia's brain. Healers come from all elementals - so there is the possiblility of them being balanced with offensive focused magi, status effect magi... Though it's always hard to find a healer wherever you are - So I say there's a ratio of 1:10 Gaians. 1 Healer for every 10 Gaians :3 To be fair, NPCs will have a lesser amount of focuses then those of PC's, and their ranks will not exceed that of the Cleric rank - unless they're glorified.

Though I'm guessing that stones that large would be diffcult to find. And those would be nessasary to run full sized vesssles.
Smaller and impure stones would be more common, but stones of that purity and size may only be readily avaliable to the very wealthy or the very powerful.

Considering that the purest stones are the ground 0 where the Elemental was summoned, there aren't that many in the world.

1:10, that's a pretty high ratio. I was expecting something a little lower, especially when you take into consideration the number of people needed to farm and produce other basic needs.
The stone part makes sense, I was just hoping for some numbers.

The stone part makes sense, I was just hoping for some numbers. No one says that a Light Adept can't be a pesant farmer. You've got your Class and then Profession, remember? :3 Though, once we compile the Professions together, it'll hopefully make more sense. xp

Okay, now I have some questions too. Or more accurately, things I'd like to know about in more detail.
First, I'd like to know more about the trade between the nations. What goods are being imported and exported from each?
Second, I'd like to know about trade within each individual nation between its regions.
Third, I'd like to have a general breakdown of manufacturing for those same regions.
Fourth, I'd like to know who is responsible for the shipping for worldwide trade. If I read everything correctly, I think Astraena is mainly responsible for shipping? If that is so, who specifically of that nation is involved? Are there numerous rival corporations competing for shipping or is there one with a monopoly?
Fifth, are there any important treaties regarding international trade? Perhaps something about international waters and what not? Anything mentioned about piracy?
And last, I want to know about transportation, especially for Higashi. I'm sure there is quite a bit of travel between the islands, so how do people usually get from place to place? And, who is responsible for this work?
