Is anyone else going to EVO 2010?

I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, seeing as I know there are fighting game aficionados in the guild.

Maybe if I lived near Las Vegas.

Thank god for Live Streams though. That's how I watched the SF4 tourny last year.

Yeah, no way I can afford to actually go, but I at least like to follow it. I, too, watched the SFIV tourney last year. I never get tired of watching Daigo beat Wong.

Ill be interested to see how the Super IV tourney goes.

I have been penny pinching to save up and go to this since my shitty game won Player's Choice.

SSF4 will be pretty hype; I'm looking forward to it. I'd have entered, but I'd just make an a** of myself. I'd rather be godliek at one game then to be mediocre at two.

Besides, I still like to b***h about the Ultra system.

Maaan, I hope to see some good super characters, cause people are clinging to much to the vanilla characters. Would be nice to see a Juri rape or a Hakan gimmick his way to the finals.

And as usual, El Fuerte. I really hope TKD can go to an EVO, cause I'm sure he can make it at least to at least semis.

I wonder if MVC2 players will switch to MVC3.

I know TvC players will have no problem playing MVC3... but I'm not sure about the MVC2 GODS liking this 'TvC controls' thing.

I won't have a problem with it since I think it's great for casuals and just having fun with my friends in general. Like, MVC's pace and characters with simple as hell TvC controls sounds like a great time- casual wise.

Given how popular the game was (and still is), there are bound to be MvC2 loyalists who will instantly hate the new game. MvC2 was fun, but I have high hopes for MvC3.

I could care less what control scheme they use, so long as the game is enjoyable and the characters don't move like they're made of molasses. It's not like using the ABC button setup takes the skill factor out of the game. I'll give you that it'll make the game easier for most people to get into initially. At a competitive level you really shouldn't be ******** up too many inputs anyways.

To be fair though, nothing in TvC really required strict execution; everything was a little TOO easy in that game. Capcom would need to fine tune it for MvC3.

I'll be sure to try out the demo while I'm there and let you know what I think.

That's what I was talking to a friend about.

Not that TvC doesn't require skill and execution, but it's wayyy easier than MvC2. Like, I can pick most of the characters and just throw random combos with a lot of ease, while I couldn't do s**t with not even half the cast in MvC2. Using Baroque and exchange air combos is not even hard either, when at first I though that using Baroque was going to require very good execution. Besides, I like TvC anyways. I just have a little issue with Capcom's roster.

So yeah, like, I immediately ranted about MvC3 having TvC controls, but then I got over it since it's not like I go to tournys and s**t. I don't even have ppl outside my friends to play SSF4 with.

Or maybe MvC2 players won't switch because MvC3 doesn't look ghetto enough.

From an E3 interview with Seth Killian, it sounds like they went with something closer to MvC's controls, and according to him, the Marvel players are dominating the TvC players at the demo. But Id heard they also added new button(s), so I dunno.

Have you seen the gameplay vids? There's no need to worry about the game or characters' speed. It looks like it's AT LEAST as fast as MvC2. Dante looks sick as hell, and looks just as stylish in play as he does in his own games. Even though there's only gonna be 30-40 characters in this one, every one Ive seen so far is packed full of personality. A LOT more voice work, too.

The only thing that annoys me so far is that they seem to have even more retarded combo counter words this time around, like "DUDE!"

I think the buttons are: 3 attack buttons (Low, Medium, Hard), 2 assist buttons (to their respective assist) and the "Exchange" button, which i still don't know what the ******** it's for.

But yeah the game looks like it has MvC2 speed. They probably buffed some s**t too. Like Captain America's shield hits you twice and the second hit stuns you for a free combo. They also said they were going to make the Capcom character's stronger since they were weak in MvC2... or at least weak compared to MAGNETOSTORMSENTINELCABLE. I mean... Dante already looks BEAST. He has all his moves from DMC3 and it's cool cause they made him unique to MvC's fighting engine. Unlike Viewtiful Joe in TvC, who feels like you're playing him in his own game rather than a fighting game... and that was shitty IMO.

I swear, this game is going to sell so much... sooo much.

All will be forgiven if the "S" rank word is "Sweetdiculous."

Pools for all games have been announced. There's a generic 'check in' form, but you can pretty much find the pool any player is in by browsing SRK. The actual brackets are not up yet. Have fun for SSFIV; the sheer amount of entries (ignoring the 4k+ troll figure) are mind boggling. I heard the final count was well over 2,000, though I'm not entirely sure how accurate that figure is. That's partially because I can't wrap my mind around it.

Melty has 146 entrants. lol @ TvC, which has like 3 people who actually play the game and a bunch of pot monsters. I don't know the final count for MvC2 at all.

G4TV will be streaming SSFIV pretty much the entire event this year, or you can watch it through your normal channels off the internet.
