Natsu had learned much from the plants around her- both in her life before she joined the pride and after, when plants started to speak to her. She had found that quite helpful, really. They kept her spirits up, they taught her to sing, sway, and dance. Not to mention she knew quite a bit about what herbs and plants to use, when to use them, how much, what you should do to them for different wounds or ailments... She had come a long way since her days as a cub obsessing over flowers and grass necklaces!

She reflected on these things, speaking in her mind to the plants, since they could hear her thoughts. They concurred that she had come a long way, but they seemed to think that her usefulness through her life would simply increase.

"You will learn even more, you'll heal many, we're certain. And we're also certain that, at some point, you will pass on your knowledge. Who knows when that will happen, but the odds are pretty good it will," her muse said to her.

"I'm sure you're right," Natsu responded, sitting among the grass somewhat close to the shore. While she wasn't on it, and she couldn't see the beach from here, the body of water shimmered in the distance and the sound of waves could be heard even above the voices of her muse.

She was young, barely out of the nursery den in fact, her mother and siblings were playing on the sand. Their mother was a very sensible lioness, she watched them all like hawks. She found it quite funny really that as a single parent, her mother could watch all those little furry bodies and know if they wandered too far. At the moment, Tuwa hadn't wandered to far and because of that her mother had taken a moment to turn her back on one of the less troublesome of her cubs.

Deep, watery blue eyes fell upon the bright green lioness. Who was this lioness? She had never seen her before. Wait, she had never really seen anyone before, just her mother and siblings so the sight of someone unknown made her feel very wondrous.

"Ohai!" She calls as loud as she possibly could, sitting her butt down in the sand with a little sandy cloud raising around her. Someone new! Someone new! She turned for a moment to check where her mother was and inched a few more feet towards the bright green lioness, hoping she would come towards her, she didn't want to disobey her mother and get lost, or eaten, so she waited, hoping for that all important reply.

Natsuki's attention was drawn by the little call. The voice sounded young, so she immediately dropped her eyes closer to the ground to find the creature it belonged to. And she was quite pleased to find... A CUTE LITTLE CUB. She smiled brightly at the young lioness and started to pad that way, looking to the mother on occasion. She knew mothers could be extremely protective but... Well, this little group was quite deep in the pride's lands, it was likely that they were members themselves. And everyone in the lands had to hold to the pride's one and only rule- not to harm anyone here.

Hopefully Natsu's presence so deep in the lands would convince the mother that she was a member too, and that she meant absolutely no harm.

Natsu sat down close to her, having drawn her attention away from the cub's mother (or, caretaker at the very least.) "Hello there! Nice to meet you, my name's Natsuki, or Natsu for short," she said with a nod. She could not get over how CUTE the girl was. She had such big hopeful blue eyes...

"What's your name?" Natsu asked with a small head-tilt.

Oh yay! The female was coming closer! She could hardly contain her excitement as she drew nearer, she was green, very, very green and it made her smile. She reminded her of a plant, a very big green plant, she had stems for legs, EEK, what if she was a walking plant?

She stayed planted to the ground and whens he caught the scent of warm fur she relaxed. Plants weren't furry or warm, well they could be furry but that was besides the point. It was worth asking right? "Are you a plant? You look like a plant, you're all green. I didn't know plants had names! I'm Tuwa, and I am definitely not a plant, mum says I could be a dirt but definitely not a plant. You are a plant aren't you?" She grins widely her big bright blue eyes fixed on the bright green lioness.

Natsuki smiled down at the cute cub, she had such stunningly blue eyes, like gems set in her darker body. "I wish I was a plant, but I'm not, I'm just a lioness," Natsu said with mock-disappointment, a small frown coming across her muzzle. It disappeared quickly enough, though. "And thank you! I enjoy looking like the plants, I've always liked my green coat, I'm glad you like it too," she said with a smile.

"The plants talk to me, though, so I am pretty tied to them," she told the cub. "They help me out a lot when I do my job, I'm a healer for the pride. I've always been interested in them, you see." Natsu figured that more information than that would start to bore a cub, so she left it there and would divulge more if Tuwa asked.

"I suppose you could be a dirt," she said to Tuwa, "but you could also be a root, too, with those markings on your back." That was true enough, the girl's appearance reminded her very much of roots.

"You're a healing plant?" Her eyes became even wider, if that was at all possible, okay Natsube had informed her she was a lioness, flesh and blood not water and green stuff, but she was so much like a plant it was already set in her mind that she was a plant talking to her.

"Will you teach me to heal lioness-plant-lady? I want to be a healer sooooo much but only the grass tells me what to do and it can't heal nothin." She paused for a moment "I think grass makes you sick cause my brother ate some and went cuhyukahbelehc, and made all green and yukky stuff."

She paused for a moment in her cub like ramble, her bright blue eyes looking deeply thoughtful. "I'd like to be a root, roots are awesome, they make the water go up, but I'm just a normal lion, mama says so, though I would like to be a root, can I be a healing root?"

Natsuki listened to her talk, and was delighted to learn that Tuwa wanted to learn some stuff about healing! Natsu was already running through the list of remedies she could teach the cub- something simple for starters... Maybe something root related, since she seemed to like that idea quite a bit!

"You're right, no offense to the grass, but it's not typically a good healing plant," Natsu said, giving it a glance down. It seemed to sigh, as if it already knew that.

"And that's pretty gross... Eating too much grass will do that to you, unless you're a zebra or something. They can eat it just fine. So if you've eaten something really bad that you don't want to digest, you can eat some grass and... get rid of it, but that's the gross way to do it," she informed. The nasty side effect of grass ingesting had a purpose.

"Roots are really cool, and every plant needs them! To keep them upright, and to help them get water. You could be a rooty lion, if you wanted, I'm sure," she said with a nod. "And you know what?" she said, holding her paw up to her muzzle as if telling a secret. "I'll show you a healing root and how and when to use it, if you want. There's even one nearby!" she whispered, knowing that that was important. She wouldn't want to take the cub away from her caretaker, if it could be avoided.

"Ohhhh, yeah it was yukky, I didn't like it and it made a smelly mess." She sticks her tongue out and puts a paw to her nose. Apparently grass was good for getting a bad thing out of the tummy though, but what could possibly be worse than grass when it made you make green yukky stuff?

Her eyes dazzled brightly as Natsube said she could be a rooty lion, and what was more important, she could learn about roots!

"Oh yes! Yes please!" She looks to where her mother stood with the rest of her litter and smiles, she knew she couldn't go very far but learning about even one awesome root could save a life. "I don't think mommy will mind if I go with you, she's busy watching everyone else." She beams her big baby blue eyes dancing happily.

"Awesome," Natsu said, glad that she had thought of whether her mother would be alright with it. She didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea when she just wanted to teach a little bit. And besides, they'd still be in view, and she hoped that Tuwa's mom would recognize her as a pridemember anyway.

With those thoughts in mind, Natsu made up her mind to teach the cub what she knew about the simple plant over there. "Alright, follow me!" she said, slipping into a gait that a cub could follow.

She decided to do some teaching as she walked. We're gonna go to that plant over there," she said, nodding her head towards it. "That one with the broad leaves. You can identify it by that, and it's usually in the sun like this one is..." she said as they approached.

"The leaves themselves don't do much, though, it's the root you're after... You can use it as a painkiller for cuts and scrapes," she explained, lowering her face to it.

Tuwa followed the older lioness quietly her big bright eyes fixed on the green legs,s he picks up her little feet weaving in and out of her toes happily. She had found a plant friend and she was willing to teach her something wonderful if not magical.

"Ohhssss" The little lioness gawps at the plant, her young memory remembering exactly what Natsuki said. "Thats amazin'" She states blinking owlishly. "If I ask my mama will you teach me everything?" She sits down her tail wiggling a pleading look in those big baby blue eyes. "Pleaseplease? I'll be a really good little root lion!"

Natsu pulled out the root and showed Tuwa how to grind it. "And you use it once it's smushed in a cut, it'll dull the pain," she explained, having a feeling the cub would remember it. "And if it's alright with your mother, yeah, I'll teach you all you want me to!" she said enthusiastically. She had never been a mentor in her whole life, but it was really pretty nice, especially with a student so eager to learn.

Even if Natsu was not so inclined to take her in as a student, she wouldn't have been able to resist those eyes, Tuwa knew how to use her cute to her benefit. "I'm sure you will, I'll teach you what I know, if you want to learn it," she offered with a smile.

"Yay!" Tuwa giggled happily looking at the odd root, memorising the look of it, she touched it with her paw, feeling the texture and even touched it with her nose and tongue to get the taste of it. It was a funny root, a magical root. A root for healing, it was just like her.

"Will you show me one more? I'll go and ask mama if you can teach me then." She begged her wide blue eyes looking curious and begging, if her mother said no, at least she would know two things about healing.

She watched Tuwa investigate the root, it reminded her of herself at Tuwa's age. Poking and prodding, and testing it... Trying to learn it, but the difference was that Tuwa had someone who already knew about them. She was lucky, when Natsu was young, she was mostly on her own, asking random rogues if they knew about a plant.

"Uh, sure! Let's see here..." Natsu said, looking side to side for another simple healing plant. "Ah, here's a classic," she said, padding off towards a second plant. It was a bit spikier-looking, almost like a cactus, but without all of the thorns. "This one's great for almost any pain to your skin. You can find it best by its smell," she said, taking a whiff of it. "Here take a sniff!"

Tuwa lowered her nose to the plant taking a deep breath she absorbed it's scent, remembering it too. "ohs, it smells good." she puurrs lifting her head and looking back the way she had come.

She could see her mothers head raised high and knew she would probably be getting in to trouble for wandering off. "I think mama is calling me. I'll ask her about you teaching me!" She purrs and wriggles her way around Natsu's paws, thanking her as any cub could be wriggling around her toes.

"Thank you Miss Nasu! Thank you!" She squeaks scuttling away down the beach towards her family.

Yes, yes Tuwa was certainly just like herself. She equated her coat to some plant feature, just as Natsu had as a cub, and she was curious about the world around her. Natsuki couldn't help but smile at that.

She was glad to have run into a lioness like Tuwa, and she hoped that the girl's mother would agree. She wondered if a meeting with her was in order... She would see in a day's time.

"I'll come back tomorrow to find out what your mother says!" she called after the cub. She picked the plant before her (since she was there anyway) and started back to her den.
