Malik: Malik's pace had increased over the last few days of their journey. Huru had to remind him, almost constantly, that the cubs were too young to keep up with his loping stride, try as they might. Days were spent restlessly tossing and turning in his attempts to rest. The anxiety of returning to the mountain was almost too much for the war verteran. He'd lived so long on his feet, so long moving between conflicts. To settle down once and for all, with his friends and family, was a welcome retirement.
"It's jus' up there towards dat mountain, kiddos." Malik rambled, for the third time that afternoon. "Th' lions there are kinda puny, like tah paint themselves too. Don't get it m'self but guess that's their way. Ya lot get tah meet my best friend. An' her mate. Just don't eat his bird."
Chrochilde: Chrodechild brought a paw up to block the sunlight from her eyes. She'd had dreams of the tiny, painted lions though she'd kept that to herself. Afterall, no one else in her litter seemed plagued with the images, and she certainly didn't want to be the odd one out. "...wow...what's the white stuff?"
Huruma: Huruma hadn't minded reminded her mate that he was just going too fast. If they didn't have the young ones, it wouldn't have been a problem, but she wasn't complaining about that, either. She found that she really enjoyed being a mother and finally understood why her parents had stopped traveling.
She wanted a nice, safe place where the cubs could grow up and they were already doing so as they made their way to the land where Malik's friend lived. But no matter how big they had gotten by this point, they still couldn't keep up with their father at a dead run.
She chuckled a bit at her mate, he was so excited! Like she had been when she first left her old pride. "You said that already, Mal," she replied in an amused tone, giving him a playful wink.
Añuli: Añuli's paws hurt, but she wasn't the type to complain. Papa had been setting a grueling pace, but at least they had their mama to slow him down often enough. She was curious about this pride and all the things her papa had told them about it. She wanted to meet new lions and learn about the painting Papa kept talking about. It seemed an interesting and novel custom.
She glanced up at Chro's question and blinked. "Yeah, what is that?" she echoed the question in her soft little voice.
Eeva Subiani: Eeva, now leader of the Shadow Clan, had settled into a daily routine of waking early, checking to make sure everything was okay with Clan Members and then taking a brisk walk around the lands. She'd never yet come across anything that she couldn't deal with, and doubted that such a thing would ever happen. However, whilst many of the members were young, she took an avid role in protecting the borders alongside her other, older siblings.
It also allowed her to get some well-needed exercise and some time alone, which was a very rare thing indeed, now-a-days. In any case, since Laka had been meeting with rogues, she figured it best to not be slack in her duty. You never knew what might be just around the corner!!
As such, she was padding down towards the path where Malik and his family were coming, totally unaware - yet - of the mini army that was ascending upon her
Kohana Subiani: Alone, not so much, though she was free to think it. Kohana had perfected his techniques of keeping just behind his sister, hiding in the shadows and stepping lightly to keep his presense undetected. While Eeva had grown into a strong, sleek lioness, his protective instincts had grown right along with him. He was perhaps the largest male in his clan, his right paw marked with flames as a testiment to his combat prowess. Rehema had honed her son into a strong, young warrior and a talented hunter. While the territory was relitively secure, he couldn't be too careful.

Malik: Malik slowed his pace once more and tipped his head in thought. Ona had explained it to him once before but it had been years ago- and originally the thought had been obsurd. It still was. "Well from what I was told, dat stuff's...what happens tah water when it gets real high up in th' sky. They call it snow, 's apparently real cold. Kinda sounds like somethin' out of a fairy tale if ya ask me. Never touched th' stuff. Only saw it from a distance."
Chrochilde: "Snow?" Chrodechild craned her neck to inspect the distant snow cap. It seemed so...alien. Perhaps the locals would give her some more insight, her father sounded just as confused, if not more, as she was. "Interesting....water never looks white to me."
Huruma: Huruma followed her daughters' gazes to the white cap on the mountain, having trouble imagining what Malik was describing. Maybe they could go see this snow for themselves, sometime.
She lapsed into silence, then, a slightly unusual thing for her, but she was tired from the journey and contemplative over the new pride. Would she really be able to settle down? Yeah, she could. She needed to stop being silly. She had grown up a significant amount after her little bit of exploring between leaving her family and meeting Malik. She still wanted adventure, but now she was okay with just little ones.
Añuli: Añuli tilted her head at the description. "It can be white. Remember the big river we passed when we first started coming here? It was white in places," she commented, looking to her sister. She liked the water, in fact she had started using her mother's infrequent exclamation. And the rain, how she loved the sound and smell of it.

And then it came to her. The scent of a stranger - no, strangers - on the wind. Many strangers, in fact. She paused, lifting her head, and glancing around. Her body tensed.
Something kicked in, then. A tickle of ferocity that had been unknown to her throughout her life.
This 'somebodies' certainly weren't members of a different clan. For one thing, they were coming from the 'rogue lands' and...well, it certainly wasn't Takuma and her sister. She'd have recognised them instantly.
So who, then?
Were they coming to cause trouble?
And, if so, what should she do? Should she fetch her parents or some of her siblings to go and greet and warn them off - if need be?

Chrodechild: Her sister had a point...it had been white in some places. Where it hit rocks and spilled into rocks especially. She craned her neck up to look at the snow-caps again, ears rolling back. Well, it would give them a place to explore perhaps...the locals would know a good deal more than her father.
Malik: He shrugged and chuckled. "It's a different place'n most. I think it'll be a nice place tah settle down."
Kohana: The lion slowly stepped from his hiding place, eyes locked firmly on his sister's face as she tensed. Something was wrong... and after only a few steps, he scented the strangers as well. He growled and slowly made his way up beside Eeva.
"Strangers." He grunted, ignoring his rude, and forced, entrance.

Huruma: Huruma smiled as well at the conversation. She was glad her children were excited about their new home. She would hate for one to leave her, unaware that at least one of them would not find the life he wanted there among the Ela. She was just about to comment on how her mate had once more reminded them that the pride was "different 'n most" when they followed the path around an outcropping of large stones to find a pair of lions waiting there for them. From what Mal had told her, she had been expecting lions even smaller than this pair, for she knew they were pride members by their tattoos. They were not that much smaller than herself, and she was big for a rogue. Certainly not as large as her mate, but larger than some. And the male of the pair didn't look like a very happy sort.
She paused in her strides and turned to him, unsure of how to approach this situation. "What now, Mal?" she asked in a soft voice, figuring he would know.
Añuli: Añuli didn't mean to correct her sister... well, she did, but she hoped she hadn't upset Chro by doing so. That was one thing she really tried to avoid, making others upset with her. She was very much the people-pleaser of the family. And when Mama stopped, so did she. She was immediately intrigued by the tattoos and the feathers, wondering if all members of the pride got them, even former-rogues like herself and her family.
But she decided to remain quiet until her parents worked things out between the pair.

Rahman: Rahman had followed the group quietly, taking in the information and admiring the scenery. Or perhaps just lost in what might pass for a thought. GODS! Body paint! That sounded like the funnest thing to do for three seconds! Maybe more. He'd cross that when it came there. When everyone stopped Rahman continued a little further mindlessly, but only a little. The sight of the tat and feathered lion earned a gasp from the amused purple maned lion. "Ohh, brodda, dem body paints and dem feddahs!" He couldn't help but admire the lion out loud. "Dems da cool like de ocean!"

Eeva startled as her brother pushed up alongside her, but she relaxed immediately upon seeing him. "Oh, Kohana!" She replied. "I'm so glad you're here."
She nodded towards the strangers, now quite visible. Two adults and...children. Many children. Perhaps she should not have so quickly jumped to conclusions? Surely parents would not cause trouble if they had young around them?
"What do you say, brother? Shall we go and introduce ourselves?" And, knowing he would follow, she moved towards the group, keeping her head and tail high so as to make up in the difference of height with the rogues.
"You tread upon the land of the Ela'wadiyi, strangers." She called out. "What business do you have here?"

Adoins
Adoins' little cublet paws tried his best to keep up with his father's pace. Resulting in little trips and fumble as he failed to keep up. His little heart raced in his chest with the work out of trying to keep with his father's long strides. One day, he would be great-just like him. The little cubs mind was filled with determination and idolization of his papa. No doubt it was noticed by his mother, which reminded Malik of the trying pace and cub paws.
As the pace slowed, with a panted breath Adoins hopped in a little trot to be at Father's side. His head turned to his twin and a disgruntled tired look of a warn out smile crossed his face. Snow? Was that what that white stuff was? It looked like his soon to be great mane, would it be just as beautiful?....doubtful.
He felt a little proud about himself walking with papa. Ha! he beat his bothers and sisters to it. A smug grin crossed his maw, the cub turned his head and took in a breath. With a reassuring nod-so what if he couldn't keep up now...he had the blood of kings coursing though his veins. He WOULD be great-it was woven though every fiber of his dna-in his cublet self. He was a beast in the making. Raw greatness in the forge of life-how could he not be amazing?
As the other lions approached, Adoins ducked his head a little past his father's mighty legs. His brow quirked, what was that stuff in his mane? He was ruining it...
Hearing his brother, Rahman. He was even more confused. Why would someone what to do that? A smile crossed his lips, at his brother's words, he sounded funny like papa...

Malik: The mountain of a lion came to a slow stop as one of the locals came within sight. A female with striking resemblance to his childhood companion and a larger male thick with muscle and thin on charm. He raised his head, displaying a non-aggressive but formidable posture for the strangers. Best make a good first impression.
His maw tugged into a soft smile as the female greeted them. He dipped his head slightly and took a step forward. "Aye, strangers ya, tah this land, not so much. I'm an old friend of Rehema an' Ona'raha. Dis is my family. Jus' keepin' an old promise."
Chrodechild: Chrodechild slowly came to a stop beside her twin and peeked around his shoulder to get a look at the strangers. Their fur was funny...so dark. She'd only ever seen that coloration on tree stumps. The accessories hanging from their manes and necks had her eyes going wide. They were pretty! And the paint, she found herself growing a little light-headed trying to stare at any one patch of fur for too long. They must be a patient bunch to paint themselves like that...or to hold still while someone else did it.
Kohana: The male narrowed his eyes on the stranger. A giant... and here he'd thought himself to be the biggest, most powerful lion in his clan's territory. The golden male made him feel like a scrappy adolescent all over again. Judging from his many scars, the lion had seen battle.
He squared off his own shoulders and turned his stony gaze back to his sister. With a short, stiff nod, he led the way forward. If the strangers, unlikely as it seemed with cubs, had any hostile intentions, they'd have to go through him to carry them out.

Comforted that she was not alone in this and ever thankful for her brother's protectiveness of her, she moved a little closer and startled a little at the sound of the rough voice that replied. What an accent!!
And then, when his words sank in she gaped a little and cast a glance to her brother, seeking some understanding of who these people were in his eyes.
And then she was glancing back at the huge male and his family. He knew their parents' names. And she knew and trusted her parents to know they wouldn't ever befriend anyone who could harm the clan. Mother had been a rogue, perhaps they were friends of hers from before she had come to this place. But, if they knew Ona'raha's name, that meant that the male, at least, had been here before.
Well, might as well greet them, then.
"If that is true, then you're certainly not strangers here. I am Eeva, Leader of the Shadow Clan, and this is my brother, Kohana, Guardian of the Clan. We are the children of Ona'raha and Rehema." She grinned. "Two of many."

Luken: Luken marched to the beat of his own unique drum, which was probably why he was the last one in their little family procession. He had been waylaid by his desire to stop and practice some of his incredible sparring moves. He tumbled growled and ran full pace only to slide to a stop and kick up a dust storm, it might have looked like a raging battle from far away until one noticed it was only one cub fighting with his own shadow. His head popped up quickly enough after flipping himself onto his back and he quickly realized how far ahead his family had gotten. Whoops! He was supposed to be there protecting them and protecting mama when his papa was busy.
He quickly ran to try and catch up to them arriving by his mothers side and panting for a moment before thrusting his chest out and trying to look intimidating. The look of intimidation however was diminished due to the slightly glazed look of confusion in his eyes when he saw the strange lions infront of them. Covered in intricate markings and saying something about leaders and guardians. His mouth fell open a bit as he quickly tried to digest all this new information and understand what was happening. Was this the new home mama and papa had spoken of, and would he get to be a guardian someday too?

Malik: His eyes went wide as the female introduced herself as not only one of Rehema's offspring, but one of many. So the old girl had a family now! He had a sneaky suspicion prior to his leaving that she'd find a soft spot for little Ona, and a family wasn't over-surprising but 'one of many'? He had half a mind to ask just how many was 'many'.
He glanced to Kohana who responded only with a gruff grunt. He certainly had a bit of his mother's attitude, though she'd never been -this- serious. He was a far cry from Ona as well. Both in size and attitude.
"Not strangers. Far from it... had a thing or two tah take care of long ways from 'ere. All done with it now." He smirked and jerked his chin towards the lioness just behind him. "An' brought back some new blood too. Made a promise that I'd come back. If all's good still, we're gonna be stayin'. Mind showin' us tah yer folks?"

She smiled warmly and nodded, turning to glance at her brother. Other than his grunt he had said nothign else, so she supposed he wasn't too against the idea of them staying.
"That would be wonderful! And what a family you have! Certainly you would be very welcome to stay and rest. You must be tired after travelling out in rogue lands all this time. If you'd like to follow me?"
She brushed against her brother as she turned and began padding slowly towards the heart of the clan's territory, pausing to throw a glance over her shoulder to make sure they followed. It was hard to believe that her timid father would befriend this giant of a lion! But he seemed friendly despite the oddness of his speech. Nevermind, she was just excited to get the reunion underway. How surprised her parents would be at this sudden arrival!
