I haven't been on Gaia much lately, and I just realized how suddenly expensive everything is. I checked my own account worth and it's gone up by almost 1 mil in a couple weeks without me making any big changes. Where is this inflation coming from? Booty Grab? That's the only thing I can think of that's pumping massive ammounts of gold into the economy with no way to remove it...

Well we are looking for people who want to make a difference. Inflation TerminationWe are actively searching for ways to abate the inflation in our MP. We do have a boycott scheduled for July, but admittedly, there isn't much of a chance for it to work, and if it does, it would only be a very short term band-aid solution. There are many suggestions on the table for us to bring to the Gaia administration, but we still need numbers for us to make an impact. We would appreciate it if you would come and check it out, add your suggestions to the group, and help us deliberate a comprehensive long-term solution to present to the Administrators.

Eltanin Sadachbia Well we are looking for people who want to make a difference. Inflation TerminationWe are actively searching for ways to abate the inflation in our MP. I don't think the problem is with users pricing things too high. People are willing to buy them at these ridiculous prices, so it seems like there's too much gold in circulation. If everything was priced too high, people would stop buying. But they haven't, so it seems like the prices in the MP raised proportionally to the gold in the system. Meaning the average user is richer, but everything costs more. Inflation's been rising like crazy for the past year or so. It seems to me like Gaia's spending all their time working on new cash items and features and mostly forgetting everything else. For example, aquariums pump so much gold into the system, but they make money. We have a couple gold sinks, but nothing even close to big enough to get rid of the extra gold from BG. So then that gold just stays in the system. The only way I've been able to keep up is to try to spend my gold quickly on stuff like EI's and cash items so when those inflate in the MP, my account value still goes up.

I just wish I could afford to buy half the stuff that Gaia puts out. I don't use GaiaCash, because I refuse to use real money on pixels, but when I go to purchase the item on the market, it's so expensive that I am never able to purchase it....

True enough, but one of the things we are asking for is for our people to think of things we can propose to Gaia as viable gold sinks that won't make people rage.
There are other suggestions too, and like I said, we would love some more.

Personally, I think that it would be more effective to boycott all cash items and features until they prove that they are at least thinking of ways to reverse inflation, but it's really hard to make a boycott work since there's such a huge user base, many of whom won't even use the forums, so just getting a noticeable amount of people to even be aware of your cause is really hard. The only protest of anything I'll ever seen work on Gaia was the complete s**t storm caused by users when they made all tobacco items soulbound. That was the most insane thing I've ever seen on the forums. XD

LOL.
Yeah, I think that if they lowered the prices to their cash shop, everyone would get what they want. Gold prices would come down because there would be more supply, and more people would actually spend real money to buy things in the cash shop.
I know that I'm not the only person who feels you should be able to get a whole new avatar for $25. I have refused to use my cash for Gaia, because the items I am interested in would cost me a whole flippin' paycheck if I were to actually outfit my whole avi from the cash shop. If I could buy enough items to make a whole new avi (that is actually cool) with a cash card, I would probably buy a couple of cash cards a month. As it stands, I haven't put one red cent from my paycheck into the system.
As it has been put forth by others... It's not like Gaia has only so many pixels to sell.

No, we are wanting to encourage pricing down. Exchange isn't off limits, but we encourage people to pay below AMP. For people who will continue to lurk the MP, we encourage to only buy when there are extraordinary deals (10% below AMP or better is the suggested), in an effort to lower the averages. We want to significantly reduce the instances of people buying for the sake of having, and make the sellers work to get people to buy. The main work will lie with the buyers by having them practice self restraint. For the most part, we would ask people to please restrain from creating new transactions in the MP, but we can't dictate people's actions. No one is going to get stoned if they are a guildy that doesn't agree with all that we propose. Our main goal is turning out to be creating solutions for the long haul. Our first operation, which happens to be our boycott, is just the opening statement. Hopefully, in a couple of months, we can have a comprehensive plan ironed out for people to sign a petition to. Then we will present it to the Gaian Administration. That is why we are needing support and suggestions. The more things that are thought of, the better our proposal will be.

I'm all for it if its possible. I think I get on here once a month. There are so many avi not in use too. Making a signature would be good. Why don't they just shut down the market for a week?? Also maybe have some gold sink games ?? Could they get rid of stupid items that no one wants like bee suits ?Why not get interns from other states help them if they don't have the time?
