Lately things in the herd had begun to change - and while Regret was adamant that she didn't care about any of it, she couldn't ignore the growing irritation that coiled around her heart and made her even more snappish then normal, something that was a feat all unto itself.
She had even considered speaking to Thano's about it - but the forgetful beast would most likely forget and he was all wrapped up with the return of Thorn. Thorns return had made Thano's about as irritable as she was about..well to put it plainly. Imbri. It just...wasn't fair, why did the black mare get to keep her normal children while she Regret had lost her's? While she was stuck with the likes of Ruin with her half gone face and messed up brain? Nameless had had red eyes - which was hardly normal and two of Vengence's miscreants had glowy eyes with no other signs of decay. She didn't see how this made them any different from her nameless...no they had to go.
It wasn't fair at all, and she wasn't supposed to care - she'd told herself that bothering to care about living things and the stuff they did was pointless, but she wasn't fooling herself though she tried to tell herself that she didn't really care - that she was merely irritated that the white stallion had more foals in the herd then Thano's did. It was a lie - but one she would tell others and herself for the time being.

Agony hadn’t wandered out of the herd’s perimeter at all today. In fact, she stayed within the herds’ sight more than usual. She didn’t understand why but she wanted some attention from her parents and siblings even though Agony knew that she would most likely be shunned away from them repeatedly. The young filly raised her head with ears perched forwards and her crimson eyes looking around as she lay underneath the shade of an almost decayed tree. The branches of the tree were thin and there were only a couple that had leaves on them. Agony snorted and moved her legs out from underneath her and tried so stand. Her balance was wobbly from her long legs but eventually she was able to stand.
Agony breathed in deeply and quickly the scent of death and decay filled her nostrils. It was a familiar smell to her and didn’t make her feel nauseous anymore. The filly stepped forwards and stretched out her limbs before bounding at the center of the herd. She leaped upwards and extended her hind legs in a bucking formation. Who would give her attention? She reared up and shrilled an awful whinny.
Agony stood down on all fours and noticed a familiar mare ahead of her. Agony tossed back her head and neighed in a greeting gesture before bounding towards the mare.
“Mommy,” Agony whispered as she walked to Regret’s side. She looked up to Regret with a proud smile on her lips and for a moment her crimson optics looked soft. Agony looked more like her mother and Agony felt that was a bond between them. Probably the only bond beside the blood that linked them together. Her smile widened and she nuzzled her mother’s foreleg with the top of her head.

With a sneer, Poison Ivy observed a young horse hobble up to its mother and nuzzle her affectionately. It was disgusting, absolutely vile. They had not been brought back to this world to breed like rabbits. With a snort, she turned her back. What did these mares think they knew of love? Pfft, there was no such thing as love. It was a story invented by foals for foals, to make them feel wanted. Well it didn't exist. All that mattered in the world was hatred and power, lust merely presented the physical aspects of the latter.
Her mind flickered to Thanos, whom as she recalled has chosen Regret to bear his young. What a filthy hypocrite, saying they couldn't mate and then going off with the first female he could fine. His very behavior tarnished the herd, but she could do nothing about it. She was stuck in this miserable place, just like the rest of them. But unlike the weak bond that appeared to exist between most herd members, she felt nothing. She was truly and utterly alone. And she liked it that way. She didn't need some stupid horse sticking their muzzle into her business. No, life was better without others. Just her and the tantalizing fragrance of human blood. Her mouth watered as she remembered the limbs she had sent flying. Her eyes rolled slightly, revealing her hidden longing. Blood. She wanted it.
Suppressing the urge to buck and run to the nearest human settlement, she forced herself to control herself. She could only leave the herd grounds on Thanos' orders. The thought made her sneer, but she couldn't attract attention to herself. No, they might find out the demons that crowded her mind, goading her on into her blood-fueled frenzies. It was best to lay low, keep out of the eye of the alphas. You never know when they might turn on you, and there was safety in numbers. Besides, stupid instincts forced her to stay with others. Damn herding urge.
Glancing back once more at the mare and her foal, a flicker of hatred sparked within her. Such stupid displays of false emotion did not have a place in this herd. What in Hell had Thanos been thinking, bringing such a common mare back? She had nothing but a scruffy pelt to make her even vaguely fit in. Humph. Well someone had to sort it out. Taking a few footsteps towards them, she bared her teeth. "What would our alpha say seeing such loving displays of affection? Perhaps such a thing ought to be eradicated."

Regret glanced down at the foal as he came over and pressed against her, at least this one has most of her face...and memories, if you looked at Agony from a certain angle she looked almost...whole. Until she turned and you spotted those gleaming white ribs on her side. Regret snorted - and while she didn't move away from the foal she didn't bother responding to the nuzzle and affectionate word either.
She wasn't supposed to care. She had promised herself she would not care ever again.
And yet....when Poison Ivy approached Regret couldn't help but be glad she stood between her foal and the dark mare. Fixing the mare with a cold look Regret pinned her ears. She was used to the cold shoulder the rest of the herd gave her and while it did not bother her she could hardly allow them to push her around either. "The question you should be asking mare...is what would Thanos say if he heard you threatening his future army. You must understand of course why he had to go outside the herd to find a suitable vessel for them - given how you are intimately aware of the useless mares within the herd. Being one of them yourself."

Rowan was in a foul mood today. Every since that b*****d Vengeance came back he hadn't done a thing, and he was a frigging Beta! Or at least that's what Thanos had said. As far as Rowan was concerned Vengeance wasn't a true beta until he did more than just stand around watching his foals. And that mare of his, she was as worthless as the others. Imbri hadn't contributed anything to the herd except for more useless foals. A waste of time, that was for sure. Even that mare Regret, whom Rowan still didn't exactly like but was respectful of due to Thanos, was slowly coming around to blend in more with the herd.
Speaking of Regret, there she was. Rowan came to a stop and looked out towards the mare. She was flanked by one of the foals and Poison Ivy. He really should get back to his duties - well make that Vengeance's duties. But he decided to investigate what was going on. Trotting up to the trio Rowan looked upon the foal, then to Poison Ivy and finally to Regret. She was the only one whom deserved any bit of respect as far as he was concerned, even if it was but a small amount of it. "Regret." He said with a slight tip of his head. He respected her only because she was Thanos' chosen mate, but at least she was starting to show she was more than just a useless bag of bones, which was more than he could say about the others in this herd.

Snorting, Poison Ivy glared at the mare. "Your purpose in this herd was to raise foals so the herd could continue, not love and cherish them." She spat, sending out waves of gagging fumes. "The only reason Thanos chose you to be his vessel is because no mare within the herd is stupid enough to waste her life on something so flimsy as a foal. There are better uses for life than being weighed down by such pathetic things. We were not brought back from Hell to skip off into the sunrise and be happy and have little darling children."
Prancing slightly onto her back hooves, the illumination on her flank grew brighter for a moment. "Thanos had no problems chasing away one pathetic foal, he'll have no problem chasing out more that act far too affectionate." She sneered, eyes rolling slightly. If she cared so much about her darling little foals, Poison Ivy would not be afraid to kick where it hurt.
As Rowan approached, Poison Ivy hissed in annoyance. Why did the beta have to come and meddle with everything? The only bit of fun she'd had since she'd killed those humans, and now she had to stop. Her iris' rolled up into the back of her skull for a second as she threw her weight around again, unable to stand still. She wanted to kill something. Now.
But when Rowan completely ignored her, a wave of smugness flushed through her. So the higher ranks hadn't been paying much attention to her, good. Being up in the limelight was a bad idea, Regret was a perfect example of that. She wouldn't be sent back to the true Hell, no. She couldn't have that. No trouble with the alphas, none, they had no reason to kill her! Another plume of gas wafted out from her nostrils as she reared back, hooves flailing. No trouble! They could not kill her! Could not send her back! She would do anything, kill, rip, tear, but not go back.
Lowering her hooves once more, Poison Ivy briefly dipped her head, flanks sweating from her sudden mad outburst. That wouldn't bring much attention to her though, there weren't many normal members of the herd. Such strange behavior could only be expected, surely.

Regret might have laughed - clearly this mare knew absolutely nothing about her. "You haven't been paying much attention now have you. That is to be expected I suppose" She mused - almost more to herself then the mare "The downside of being crazy is lowered Cognitive abilities. Takes you a bit longer to really grasp the situation. However I'm sure you will make fine fodder in the upcoming war" She told the mare in a voice dripping with pity and scorn.
Sure Regret couldn't care less what the mare thought of her -but she had learned long ago that letting horses like Poison Ivy think they had the upper hand never went anywhere well. Her old...she snorted, how close she had come to thinking about then! How swiftly a bit of anger nearly made her relapse into destructive habits. Best not to think...not to care...
And Rowan saved her from going any further down that pathway with his timely appearance. Not timely enough however - no sooner had the brute arrived then Poison uttered her last dastardly words. Regrets nostrils flared as she turned back to the ugly little mare and took a step towards her with narrowed eyes. "Then he will have no problems sending an equally useless tiny little mare back to hell now will he?" She asked the mare in a voice that was far to sweet to match the situation. Regret was in a foul mood - and showing every inch of the wicked queen she had been before the herd had turned on her, before apathy had nearly broken her. Here amidst the dead however...Regret seemed unafraid to show herself - perhaps she didn't want to remember the past and perhaps she didn't care a wit about the future...but that just meant she had nothing left to loose. After all...Regret wanted to go to hell. It's where she belonged.
Glancing at Rowan, Regret snorted slightly "Why is it that this herd is still full of stupidity? Shouldn't you have culled such things out already? Perhaps I should have a word with Thanos" Which she intended to do anyways - and being one of the few horses Thanos actually paid attention too..that was no idle threat.

Rowan watched the display of Poison Ivy with little interest. He knew that mare was a bit...unstable, so actions like this were quite the norm, so why should he pay attention to them. In fact even the apparent argument between the mares didn't really draw his attention per say. Well except for the fact that Regret seemed to have quite a bit of anger behind her words, which was quite unlike her. Normally she was so laid back. This intrigued him a bit, but not enough to pursue anything.
Besides it seemed as though her attention had turned from the mare to him. Turning his ears his listened to the thin mare speak. "I assure you, if Thanos would allow me to I would have taken care of it long ago." In fact Rowan had wished on multiple occasions that Thanos would give him the word and then he could properly deal with all the useless bodies of the herd. "Starting with Vengeance, of course." He added, no longer hiding his hatred for the other Beta.

Agony’s long legs trembled underneath her frail body as she stared at Poison Ivy. She gulped quietly and moved herself underneath Regret’s stomach a bit with her neck stretched out and head peeking out from around the mare’s foreleg. She licked her lips as she quickly glanced up to her Mother as her and Ivy began to bicker amongst one another. Agony was pretty sure she knew which foal Ivy was speaking of—Nameless. Agony dipped her head down and sighed deeply. He was probably the only one in the herd that understood her. Her brother was her best friend until he was exiled from the herd because he looked ‘normal’ whereas Regret looked normal. Why didn’t Thanos abandon her? Agony raised her head and looked back up to her Mother before realizing that Rowan had neared to the trio. She felt a bit safer with him around even though Rowan had a way of annoying Agony because of when he would be sent out to baby-sit.
She debated on saying something but backed down because Regret looked furious now. Instead she remained silent as she stood partly underneath her Mother’s belly and looked up at the adults.

Letting out a manic laugh, Poison Ivy threw her head back. Was that what Regret really thought? That she would be used and thrown aside as though nothing but, as she put it, fodder? No. She was more important than that. She had proved it! She had murdered that human for Thanos, for herself. She had felt his bones crunch satisfyingly between her teeth. Enough to not get her seen as one of the horses who did nothing but leech off the herd, not enough to put her up in the ranks. It was perfect.
As the mare grew angrier, Poison Ivy grew more and more smug. Anger was good, it fed the herd, it kept her going, it fueled all her purposes on this forsaken planet. Snorting at the pity and scorn in the female's voice, she saw she had hit a nerve. You miss that pathetic excuse of a foal? How sweet. I'll remember this, you can count on it. This piece of information will have its use.
Turning back to the conversation with Rowan, the mare stamped her foot irritably. Cull it out? The herd was full of nothing of stupidity, with the biggest source being Regret with her nurturing and caring. Threats like that had no meaning on her. However, the next turn in the conversation sparked some interest. Vengeance? The beta who had come crawling back to the herd? How feeble, almost pitiful. And hating him so much was just as weak. Why bother wasting hatred on such a puny opponent? All he cared about were his foals too. Stupid foals. They had no purpose in this herd.
Noticing Agony hide behind her mother, the mare leered at the young one, her face twisting into a gruesome mask. What a pathetic creature. One bite and her neck would snap, her blood spilling out over the ground, scarlet against green. A beautiful contrast. Her mouth watered.
