Resurrection Wolves Captain

The air was still as the two wolves circled.
Their reasons were their own, but their goals were the same: Alpha. In the face of the Darkness, the rag-tag group of wolves would need a leader. Through their experience, ambition ans perhaps even foolhardiness, both wolves know they would be an excellent leader.
The sun glistened off the tan granite cliffs, the whole landscape seemed tilted, the sun near the horizon as both wolves dug their claws into the loose rocky foundation to keep their footing on the 45 degree incline. This was where they had chosen to fight, away from the bulk of the group, on the very side of the mountain which juts from the belly of the valley, dwarfed further by the ominous overhanging plateau to the north and south.
You may begin without prompting at the starting time, for now feel free to taunt, but no fighting. Please take turns attacking. Judging area:Res's Verdict: A'cuil 1Eslen's Verdict: A'cuil 1Candie's Verdict: A'cuil 1While both had their strong points, A'cuil portrayed himself more like a leader, and did so with emotion.Straye's Verdict: Taki 1 Fought hard and was with it to the end. Definitely saw potential and willingness. Good description and emotion. Victor: A'cuil 3Final points: Winner is Acuil! 6 points (or more when the others get back!)

He was waiting calmly, tail laid gracefully over solid forepaws. Sitting straight up, the mountain wolf looked as impassable as the stone beneath him. A'cuil felt good here, away from the trees. Oh, he liked them well enough; but this was stone. This was mountain land, wonderful land. And he missed it so.
If he had to fight, this was where he wanted to do it.

Stepping from the trees, Taki stood before the male, her pelt glossy, reflecting the dying sunlight as she dipped her head. Her step held grace but also power in the way her muscles rippled beneath her fur. She was hardy and willing to defend a wolf in danger but to protect her pack from those that challenged them.
As she gazed over him, her eyes judged his strength and size as well as his attitude. She nodded satisfied then raised her tail a bit.

A'cuil regarded Taki with a moment of surprise, but quickly settled back into his calm. The stone... God, he loved the stone. It was still warm underpaw.
"Hello, Taki." A'cuil stood, walking toward the vivid wolf. His steps were measured and stoic, but his body hummed with tension. "I didn't expect you to be the one I challenged." Looking back on it, he couldn't imagine why. She was strong as any wolf there - and they were all strong wolves. Either one of them would make a valuable leader.
Nevertheless... the warrior hummed with tension - and excitement.

Her fur stood on end in her excitement as she raised her tail higher. Accepting the challenge. She nodded and perked her ears forward as she started to step slowly forward her eyes gazing intently into his. "Everything, and anything is possible. Let the rightful wolf win and lead the pack in the right way."

"Spoken like a warrior." A'cuil nodded back, his voice guttural. "No matter what the outcome, remember. We promised." He adored a spar with a worthy opponent! Of course, this a little more serious than a spar; but he didn't want to think about that.
Legs that could launch the wolf straight up into the air suddenly pushed off the stone, sending pounds of fur, fang and exulting howl barreling down the incline at Taki.

Tumbling back from the force of his attack, Taki snarled low in her throat and pushed up with her paws, her teeth lunging for his haunches to dislodge his large form from her, her lips pulled back to reveal her long gleaming fangs as she battered at his weight.
Her fangs snapped, missing his skin and grazing through fur as she squirmed beneath him.

A'cuil snarled as he felt teeth flash through his fur, grateful not for the first time for his northern pelt. He immediately rolled the wolf he tangled with atop him, moving to push her off of him with those powerful hindpaws: he wanted to keep her on the incline, out of the forest. He did not hold the advantage between them within those trees.

Hopping back Taki stood growling at him as she leapt at him trying to force him backwards away from the shear rock wall. She would be trapped if her back remained against it.
Her fangs connected with flesh as she grasped him by the scruff of his haunches while she stood on her hind legs, her forepaws on his shoulders, pushing back.

The mountain wolf immediately twisted himself to the side, ignoring the pain of Taki's teeth. This was folly, sadly, and the sharp ache that drove its way through his haunch told him that. The wound would not pass him quickly: a punishment for his brashness. A high growl of derision flew from his parted jaws. He wrested, striving to dislodge the tenacious fae; and barring that, went in for her shoulder with snapping jaws.

Taki pushed forward with her forepaws, stepping slowly against his weight, warring him back towards the trees. They were of her advantage, her family having lived under their bows, protected from all. Her fangs sunk deeper, as she flailed her paw at his muzzle, growling low in her throat.
Her paw missed but she held him, his muscle seeming to keep her in place.

A'cuil shook his head, using the brute force of his shoulders to resist Taki's shoving. His snarls turned into harsh barks under the force, his head pushing roughly back as he pressed against her.
Bulling his head into the crook of her belly, A'quil strove to headbutt her and dislodge her jaws in a single, fell swoop.

Hopping back quickly she let go of him and dropped to all fours. Taki narrowed her eyes and lunged at him again, aware of her strength slowly ebbing but she wouldn't give up the chance to continue yet. She snapped her fangs for his shoulder as she jumped.
She misjudged the lunge and fell short, raising her paw to defend as she snarled at him.
