On another site, it's the norm to have a picture of yourself in your sig. A girl made a topic asking the people without pictures why they don't put one up. One response was: Quote: I believe people can be too judgmental. I bet if i was some pretty white girl i would get more help with my problem. I believe people are more friendly if there know there own kind is talking to them. So, i show no picture you can't judge my peace signature. To be honest, it's been awhile since I've seen a real racist comment. I honestly forgot racism existed until this girl is RACIST TO HERSELF. "there own kind"? Seriously, am I from Mars or something? Oh, I'm white. I soooo connect with white people better than any other melanin level. I also have a complete loss of melanin on my right knee, so it looks albino. So unless you have an albino right knee, don't talk to me. You don't have an albino right knee so you just don't get it man. talk2hand Some of the more popular girls in that forum are so different you wouldn't believe. Some scary pale, one was adopted from Honduras, a girl from Brazil. Then this girl who've I never seen post before going "You don't like me 'cause I'm *insert race here*."

Life’s pretty good, and why wouldn’t it be? The only reason I tend to hang out with people from my own race is there ain't all that many ethnic minorities in North East Scotland. And those I have met who I've not made friends with was on the basis of them being jerks rather than their ethnic origin. In fact I've spoken to and gotten along with a number of people from different races, I just really ever got close enough to call them friends.
I’m a pirate, after all.

There is more genetic difference between a tall man and a short man, than a white man and a black man.

CH0Z0 There is more genetic difference between a tall man and a short man, than a white man and a black man. I treat tall people and short people very differently, admittedly. If someone dwarfs me..... Ho crap, ho crap, make sure it's friendly. If the opposite is true, I'll usually comment. Same is true with buff looking V. scrawny, minus the commenting.

People tend to favor those of their own race more than those of other races. It's true . . . to an extent. People are generally sexually attracted to people of their own race more than they are to any other race. People will generally approach others of their own race before approaching people of different races.
We are attracted to those who look similar to us and things that are familiar. In a school where 99% of the population is white, being black is different. That doesn't mean it's bad. That doesn't mean anybody cares that someone is black. It just means that in some circumstances, like dating, a person will find people of the same race more appealing. Again, that's not to say that people of a different race are not appealing, it's just that people of the same race are more appealing.
Hell, even babies do it. They'll act more calmly in the arms of a person that looks like someone they know (they'll generalize to skin tone because they can't make out more subtle facial features until their eyesight improves). However, if a baby has parents of different races, then no, it's probably not going to show preference.
I imagine that the same would be true in places where races are evenly mixed (and no unconscious segregation is going on).n

As a person in a relationship with someone of another race, this kind of stuff is interesting to me... Because I find myself more attracted to Alex than I've ever felt about anyone else before ._.

A girl in my grade loves how asian boys look and we were in a mainly white school for most of our lives, the only asians were foreign exchange students. My school had maybe 3 black people and I was often told how attractive my ex was. There's nothing wrong with like what's familiar, it's just not always the case. Or maybe I'm just odd because my Scleroderma makes me fun colors instead of just "white." xd

Well.... I don't know.
Because I grew up in Germany, I've barely ever had to deal with racism, or other races, at all, for that matter.
It was a big deal that we had a black kid at our school.
And now, I live in northern Kentucky, also with barely any diversity.
I guess that's why I do 'differentiate', I think is the right word. Somehow, I feel like I have to be more careful not to say something 'accidentally racist' or whatever. That's the only reason I really can see.

I'm a people person and I tend to get along with most easily. I don't tend to deviate to people of the same race as me. If you're down to earth, I'll be able to start a convo with you easily. I do, however, understand what Cleo speaks of because it holds some truth to it. And if I were to speak of my closest friends, only one is black, the rest are mostly Asian, Hispanic, white. And it just happened to be that way. I deal with racism every now and then, especially when I go out of NY State. I hate it, but I've learned to not let it get it me. There fault for being close minded. Just dirt off of my shoulder.
