So I was in Virtual Hollywood and I encountered some gay haters. I was incredibly annoyed and i really just wanted to say so much to them but I kept myself calm as to not risk getting reported for saying something wrong. This girl was preaching about the bible and how gayness was wrong yet she didnt even have a bible. It seems like most christian people don't even read the bible yet try to tell everyone how things are wrong just by what others tell them. They also try to say that it is written there in black and white but its not. Its the bible, its a book like any other but people have made it alot more important. You can't read a book and not analyze it and its culture. You wouldn't read a book from the 30's and think that a white person saying colored is bad would you? No, because in the 30's colored was a GOOD phrase for black people back then.
So in short my question is, why do people hate gay people so much? What is their legitimate reason and argument? Because the bible, and god just aren't cutting it for me.

Why do people hate gay people so much? Well, to start off, there is the fact that many people hate them because they were taught to. Take my father for example, his parents taught him that gays were wrong, so he believes it. His sister is a lesbian and she is rejected from speaking to my brother and I. Now I know that is not the case with many. There is also the reason that people hate differences. Like with the black and white thing, many thought that being a different color was wrong, in today's modern world that is not the case because we learned. And many were raised to think the you would burn in Hell if you liked the same sex. Though that is not the case, because God loves every one, no matter what.
What is their legitimate reason and argument? There really isn't really a legitimate reason. Many use that the bible says marriage is between a man and a woman, not any way else. Many think that it is wrong for a man to like a man because their bodies weren't made to match, same with a woman. Now the bible also states that we were all made to replicate God, so that means that God is either bi-sexual or made a mistake in his caculations for some of us.

I just can't imagine God saying "I made a batch of people wrong so I'm going to punish them for MY mistake".

IndieUndies00 I just can't imagine God saying "I made a batch of people wrong so I'm going to punish them for MY mistake". Now I'm suddenly I'm reminded of that signature I see floating around the ED forums that reads, "Stop using Jesus as an excuse to be a bigoted a*****e!"
I agree, hon, God makes no mistakes, and loves us all the same, and if he didn't want us all to be different, he wouldn't have given us free agency -- though that sadly has become the one most-abused gift we all have. sad
Now here's my little opinion on a Homophobia-related issue:
Why do so-called "conservatives" fight to keep Gay Marriage illegal?
Their answer: "It's to protect the sanctity of the family!" D:
Okay... So somehow only allowing people to marry the opposite sex is just going to make gays go away?
NEWSFLASH! -- Even if The President decides to ban same-sex marriage nationwide, there will still be gays, there will still be lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals and so-on! There is no "cure" for this "epidemic" (though there have been some gays and lesbians who have decided to go straight -- so they probably weren't really gay to begin with); we have worse things to worry about in the world right now, so just leave these people alone, and help out with the real crises!

But I agree, there will always be gay people, and as long as we're around we're going to continue to fight for our rights.

I think you all have very valid points, but think about this:
Maybe they are angry their gay children won't give them grand children, so their line will die out, and they're too old to try again.

And it's not like adoption isn't an option -- children don't have to be linked by blood to carry on a family's legacy.

There is also artificial incemination. Sperm donors for women, surrogate mothers for gay men. Theres options, they just hove to go find them. Gay people can totally have children, its just not as simple as incert slot A into slot B and wait 9 months to eject the result.

You think they're really the type to consider adoption/artificial insemination as a continuation? I doubt this. On the other hand, I doubt they'd be just as frustrated if their kid was straight and they lost their balls or ovaries.

Lol that's true, though I still have a problem with the whole surrogacy thing.
Sure, it's not the surrogate's kid she's knocked-up with, but having a baby is still a very emotional and physically traumatic process in a woman's life; How can you guarantee that the woman carrying yours and your partner's baby won't change her mind at the last minute and try fight for custody of the child? Afterall, she was the one who carried it for 9 months and went through the grueling painful process to bring it into this world?
But I think I should stop here before I go completely off-topic.

It's extremely looked down upon in the bible and people believe it to be unnatural. However, it's looked down upon more in the Christian bible versus the Jewish bible [yes I had to make that distinction since I am Jewish].
However, back when polytheistic religions were standard, it was viewed perfect to have more than one sexual partner and one's sexuality did not matter.
Please make a different topic for discussing gays with kids
