At long last...
The lion turned his head to one side and threw his chest out, sucking in a deep breath. His mane, as proud and thick as his father's -no-, prouder and thicker than his father's, had finally grown in. Shining raven meshed with a deep midnight blue- who wouldn't be charmed by that? They would have to be INSANE not to appreciate his thick, masculine fluff.
He slowly ran his paw over the top of his mane, his claws combing out a few of the tangles and snares that had built up in his short period of flight. He'd arrived at a very small punchbowl stirred by a small, trickling waterfall. The lush, greenery blossomed all around him, accenting his presence further. The flowery, vivid colors contrasted his fur perfectly. Any passer-by would notice him instantly. Why wouldn't they?
He tipped his head to the side, his blue eyes sparkling just right in the dim lighting. Perfect...everything was perfect. He was a prime example of masculinity, the greatest god to ever grace the sky, and a rare, exotic flower in the small, romantic jungle. If...he'd found someone who appreciated his obvious charms- he'd have brought her here.
The thought earned a quiet, shuddering whimper. It wasn't him. It was them. That's right. It was all their fault! Not his.

While the egotistical god fussed and primped himself up in the reflection of the active water, another set of bright, whimsical eyes appeared from somewhere behind him, from the thick and unnatural coat of a mud-bombed lioness cub.
She had learned a new lesson today. Mud was not really her friend at all! It got everywhere and matted her fur like nuts. She had mud where she never thought she would have mud. But it was fun, and it did squelch around under her juvenile paws as she walked from the tiny bog of mud that the egotistical creature had unfortunately missed.
Dragging her tail and long mop of now muddy brown - with green and blue splotches peeking out - she mustered the energy to find her way next to the self-appraising god, her only visible eye at the moment glancing up at him from his side, wondering when he would notice her so she could share her wonderful realization.
After a moment, she figured this would take forever without initiative, and with a quiet little shuffle, she cleared her throat. "Hm-HM!"

Of course he needed a reason to look away from his reflection. It was unlikely that anything short of a falling meteor could grab his attention. Even then- it'd have to be a pretty big meteor. He'd die happy so long as his hair was straight, he had time to lay himself in a beautiful, dramatic way, and give a parting speech- perhaps a poem. He'd have to think over that.
With a long, drawn out sigh he slowly looked over to the female and gave her a slow, appraising look. Lovely colors- they complemented each other wonderfully, her hair was done nicely- even if it was a little messy at the moment, and she knew how to accessorize!
....wait. Mud. Ew.
He slowly leaned away from her and slowly dusted off his chest- as if that would somehow discourage her from getting any closer. "....evening."

At the jerk to attention that the much larger god, (but nothing compared to Dormin, not like she'd say that out loud,) she realizes what she had accomplished. She had received the attention she was hoping for, successfully breaking the concentration that the large god seemed to have spent so long to hone in to.
Breaking into a wide glance, white teeth gleemed through the murky darkness that her matted and slightly stained fur had created, she waggled her muddy tail a little as he finally murmured, his deep voice waivering a little at the sight of this beautiful monstrocity. Feeling the pride well up in her head, she swelled her muddled chest up and burst out in chatter at the welcome of conversation.
"Hi! I learnt a lesson today!" she chirped, before looking around and leaning closer to the large god, seriousness streaking her face for a moment, her voice lowering to a sweet murmur, "Mud is a fickle mistress. One moment it's so enticing, and you want to jump right in. Then it gets in your fur and it gets in your ears and then you're not the same colour anymore." she stated, eyes widening.
"But it is kind of fun to jump around. Even if you're by yourself."

Rama had to fight with every fiber of his being not to scream and leap away from the mud-ridden cub. Just why these things always seemed to happen to him was beyond his comprehension. It wasn't fair! He was beautiful and perfect, why filth, muck, and rainwater always seemed to follow on his heels was beyond him. The injustice of it all...
As she leaned in closer he leaned away to compensate for the loss of distance between them, his eyes sharply snapping to the dribbles of mud trailing from her hair and feathers. Augh...if it got on him he'd have to lick it out of his fur! Not only did mud taste terrible, but then he'd have brown spots on his teeth! His smile would be flawed. He'd have to find somewhere to wash his mouth out, and then his paws would get wet and dirt would stick to him- it was just a good idea to keep a fair distance between himself and the ungroomed. As unfortunate as their state was...
"Oh well, I wouldn't want to take away from such...bliss! No, it would be rude of me. Please, enjoy your mud-wallowing. Alone. Preferably over....there."

He was irked! This amused the little juvenile to no end, breaking out in a wider smile, her eyes dancing at the dark pelted lion in front of her as he squirmed a little, the sheer idea of her touching him with her mud-ridden body a sin above all. Taking a few steps back, she took a seat roughly on the ground, the mud that adorned her back legs and tail squelching a little uncomfortably, before continuing her 'torture' of the subject in front of her.
"I don't see what's so wrong about giving oneself a mudbath sometimes." she chittered, before looking around. "I've even heard that it's good for your skin, and fur. Kind of makes a sheen or something." It's how this all started, she mused internally, a rogue lioness telling her of the wonderful mud baths that were close to this little oasis of a sort. "If it bothers you so, I can jump in the water and cleanse myself of this mud - I think you'd look less spooked if I were cleaner?"
