Hsin wasn't sure what was going on, but he was loving today already.
The family was on vacation to one of the biggest hot spots of the summer; the beach! While Jake unloaded the car, Cameron took all of their little hoodlems down to the sand to set up. "Hsin, be careful or you'll-"
"Too late, Cammi." Carrie Sue swung her body from side to side, pointing at the lump that was Hsin.
Cameron gasped and ran over to scoop him up. She'd known from the start that his crutches wouldn't work in the sand, but oh no, that fiance of her's said it would be fine. "Fine my a**," she grumbled, brushing sand off her baby boy. "Are you alright?"
"Just fine," He grinned, practically flinging the crutches at her. "Gonna get wet. Bye!" Hsin stood up and hobbled to the water, using Carrie Sue as a crutch as the children raced down.

Risa loved summer; she loved the sunshine, she loved that it caused a glow on her skin like no other time of year, but most of all, she loved trips to the beach. This time she had brought her youngest; Miles already had his hands full with Ellie and Loki. Besides, Tammi had wanted to see the water ever since she'd seen it in pictures.
Wanting to see it here meaning that the toddler was carrying a bucket of water back to her mother. "My shiny," she said. She carefully placed the bucket onto the blanket her mother was sitting on. "Watch it," she told her, before toddling back to the water. That was, until she caught sight of Hsin. She stared. The boy was using sticks to walk? ...Weird. "Shiny," she said, meaning it as a compliment. "Hi shiny!"

The mix-matched boy stopped before his sister did, causing his balance to be thrown off. He grabbed her shoulders with a squeel before they both tumbled into the sand. "Owie, Carrie!" Hsin spat out a mouthful of sand, and rubbed his tassled ear, then looked up at....a winged girl?
He smiled and swung his tail outfront of him, the dragonfly wings keeping it level in the air. "Mm'hmm. Shiny. Your shiny too, just darker."
Carrie Sue grabbed her brother's shoulders and heaved herself up, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Wow! She gots wings, bro'der. Wonder if she can fwy."

Tammi gave Hsin a bright smile, not really paying attention to what the boy had to say; except that he had agreed that he was a shiny, and that made him her shiny. "I shiny?" she asked in disbelief, before looking down at herself. "I is shiny!" She admired herself for a moment longer, before looking up at Carrie.
"Can't fly," she confessed, with a bit of a frown. She couldn't fly, yet--but she planned on being able to.

Carrie looked at the girl like she was insane while Hsin just smiled, completely unphased by it. "Can't fwy e'ver, can't wawk good." He laughed and stood back up with the help of his sister. "Wanna pway?"
"Cawwie, Cawwiiieeeee!" A younger girl, this one Hsin's age, stumbled and sputtered through the sand as she gain speed. Her arms were covered in the same things that she carried. "Forgot!"
Hsin looked over. Ooooh, water things. He hated those. Grudingly, he sat still while Carrie slipped them on him and then he took off for the water.

"Why?" Tammi asked, tilting her head. "Why can't walk good?" She studied him for a moment, curious. "Why can't fly?" After another moment of studying Hsin, she said, "You got hurt?" She focused on his question and nodded. "I play."
She ignored Carrie pointedly, before following Hsin. "Gonna play in water?" she asked. Maybe she could find shinies, and give them to Daddy! Daddy liked shinies. She knew he did, he was a shiny himself. Maybe she could take a whole bunch of shinies home to him!

Hsin decided not to answer her questions because he didn't have an answer. The toddler just shrugged and kicked up a spray of water with a bright smile. His Coma said that if he didn't have an answer, he should keep his trap shut, so, he did!
Carrie, however, huffed and chose to ignore Tamara. She slipped her arm around Hsin, hogging him all to herself under the disguise of keeping him upright. The toddler tugged a little too hard on him, causing her to loose her own balance and fall on her butt.
"Hehe! Cawwie, I didn't know joo were a fish."
She pouted and crossed her arms.

Tammi was mildly upset--well more than mildly upset tat the realization that she was being ignored. She crossed her arms and frowned, before sticking her tongue out at Carrie when she fell. The toddler deserved it, she thought. Being mean and ignoring her. Who could ignore someone as awesome as she was anyway?
"We play," the toddler said, looking to Hsin and giving him a smile. "Get shinies. You want some? I share with you."

Carrie stuck her tongue back out at Tammi and openly growled, ever more the dragon than her brother or Coma. "I'm telling mom!" With a great show of scrambling up and slipping in the water, the little girl took off for shore.
Her brother just turned and looked at her. "Baby." Carrie whined more than Sybil and he was still just a baby. He turned to Tamara and smiled. "Okay, but...whats a shiny?"
