Sanctuary of the Solemn One

History

There was a day when the mortals did not exist. These days the god's existed in complete harmony with the world around them. The Asguard never had to worry about watching over the mortals, nor the mortals appeasing the gods. In the current days with so many different dieties, demi-gods, and mortals things are no longer as simple. Relinth is an abandoned soul cast out by the benevolent diety of the heavens, rejected by the mortals, and shuned by the other great beings. His search brought him to a code of honor he lives by. Courage, Truth, Honor, Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality, Industriousness, Self-Reliance, and Perseverance are the virtues that define him as a warrior. He sought out a place to make a shrine to these virtues, and earn his place amoung the honored dead.

Description

A distance away from the Black Company Dojo lays the Sanctuary. This great hall is a rectangular structure built in the style of the ancient roman buildings. Its massive structure lays a few hundred feet long sprawling over the tranquil forested landscape that surrounds it. Its white pillars glisten as if they were new the marble not showing a hint of its age. The inner structure itself has a single door at its front made of metal which is almost always left wide open. The walls inside the structure are made out of a flawless white stone etched with a wide assortment of runes, many of which magical in nature. Tapestries of different kinds adorn the walls as to a number of weapons which are encased in decorative cases. The floor is a similar quality white stone which is only a bit duller then the outside walls. Entering the foyer there are a number of statues of various deities with small places to place offerings. They are a number of rugs on the floor which one can only assume are meant to meditate upon. As you reach the back of the hall Statues of Tyr, Thor, and a few other Norse gods stand looking down over the rest of the area. To the right of them is an opening into a hallway. Down this hallway there are some Spartan accommodations including a small kitchen, a rest area which some small couches and a meeting room with a large stone oval table. Following the hallway it makes a turn to the left and leads directly to a staircase. Coming up the staircase you notice a number of small rooms for those whom are staying here to gain enlightenment. At the end of the hall is a impenetrable locked down with a series of magical runes inscribed on it. This is the main room of Relinth Thares. It is said within he houses a number of magical artifacts and a small library within his room however few have seen it. His living conditions are said to be comfortable but not lavish. This place is a place of worship and learning. Doing battle within would surely be looked down upon by its master whom has gone to great lengths to make this a safe haven for lost souls.

Surroundings

The Sanctuary is located in a clearing deep in the woods that surround the Black Company Dojo. During the daytime the grassy area has an unusual ambiance to it as sunlight seems to beam down on this area with extra intensity. The area directly next to the Sanctuary has been turned into a garden and seems to always have an abundance of fresh vegetables. There is also a small pond with fresh water out back of the Sanctuary. Some fish can be found here if one is persistent enough. The wild animals are known to spend time around this place sense it is rarely disturbed and has managed to avoid any major disasters.

A calm breeze came through the great hall laid out for Relinth. It was a dimly lit evening and clouds gathered above-head. Relinth was on the upper level of the Sanctuary. Silent he would be for a few moments the wind moving through the open windows blowing his grey robes about.

The calm breeze began to calm down throughout the area. Oddly the clouds continued to gather over-head, it certainly looked as though a storm was about to take place despite the calm. Relinth's eyes were still closed as the rain began to come down throughout the area of the Sanctuary. Soon the winds began to pick up to gale force blowing his robes about violently exposing his tight fitting black shirt, and loose black jeans. At the exact moment Relinth's eyes opened lightning would strike the building, and cascade across the roof creating an amazing light spectacle. Relinth's lips moved slowly as he spoke although there was no one else in the building.

"Yes my lord. I understand what must be done..."

The upward-facing arrow on the wall glew with red energy for a moment and became dull again after a few moments. Relinth stood up casting the robe off of himself, and it would vaporize a few inches from his body. He began to walk downstairs and headed away from his home.

Relinth would appear out of a bright flash of light on the upper-level of his home. He still held the vampire by his neck and it didn't seem that he had been being gentle with him either. He would toss Albert down to the ground on top of a square altar. He would step on Alberts making a rather loud snapping sound as a rib or two would break. He looked down on the vampire and chuckled. He would hold an open hand over the vampire and red bands of energy would wrap around Albert holding him to the altar.

"It's been a long time General Albert Himura..."

::Albert squirmed against the bonds but was not nearly strong enough to break them right now. If he could have a source of blood then it might be another story. Relinth was smart enough not to get into a battle of physical strength with a vampire.::

Aataris... or should I call you Solaren...

::Relinth would pull a dagger from one of the statues near by and hold it in his palm moving it ever so slightly feeling out its balance before spinning it around his hand a few times, and letting it come to rest held firmly in his palm. He would crouch down next to Albert running the blade along the ground lightly looking down on him::

Whatever eases the pain the most old friend... You know who I truely am and I'm not the monster you once served.

::Albert turned his head away from Relinth, and simply sighed a bit. He knew that he was not going anywhere for a while. This was not a position he hoped to be in. He began to test the bonds moving just enough to see how they moved, or flexed::

Well General... ask whatever you want to ask. I may or may not answer.

Relinth would kneel down beside Albert and play with a blade that rested in his hand. He would keep moving it so the blade would come close to the vampire's skin. He chuckled lightly after a few moments grabbing the blade firmly in his left hand, and moving his right across Al's forehead

"Well old friend... Where is my right hand man?"

::Albert looked up at the knife and smiled a little bit licking his fangs at Relinth. He pushed up with all his might causing the chains to shake about pushing the knife into his skin but he didn't care in the least he would hiss trying to force Relinth back a bit::

The rest of the details of the struggle weren't important, it would not have mattered how long or hard Albert struggled. The time for hope had long since been gone and now it was only a time of defeat for the old vampire. He had long since been broken but not in the fashion in which Relinth had wished. He had not given the old vampire credit as to how hard he would hold to not betraying his comrades in arms. Now it was painfully clear to Relinth.

"How do I find who I am looking for Albert? Do you even know who we are speaking about any longer?"

Albert had become so broken that the information gained from him was so disorganized that Relinth hadn't been able to make heads nor tails of it. The old vampire was now locked inside an Iron Maiden which would close a bit more everytime his host wished it to.

::By now all that was keeping Albert alive was the little blood he had left over. His age had made him durable however no vampire was meant to take such abuse or be without blood for so long. He would simply smile through the small metal slots at Relinth speaking softly::

We are talking about the shadows in the night... The constant companion, he who is always watching and whom all fear... He that hasn't been seen yet has seen. He who fights through many and dies through few...
PostPosted: Thu Apr 20, 2006 6:59 pm
Relinth would chuckle lightly unable to make heads or tails of the riddle for the moment it was so many different thoughts put together that it was clear that the answer he was looking for was a little more buried then he hoped for, but he had a few ideas.

"Albert... shadows of the night eh? Someone whom stalks, who is always watching, whom is feared, whom is an illusion, and immortal eh? Who are we speaking of... give me more and I'll end the suffering..."

::Albert looked up at his captor shaking his bonds slightly worsening his wounds letting the blood drip out all over the floor in front of him. He would start chuckling madly::

Don't worry Relinth he is as separated by a barrier as you and I are...
PostPosted: Thu Apr 20, 2006 7:06 pm
It took him only a second to realize whom Albert was speaking about, and judging from where Al had come from to the Dojo he could only draw one conclusion as to who had his old friend, and whom he need to pay a visit too.

"You've given me all I need... Rest vampire."

Relinth would press his hand to the Iron Madien and strands of red energy would lash out around it surrounding the structure. Within Albert would experience no more simply resting in the magical embrace of Relinth's power. Relinth would grab his swords and head down then out of the Sanctuary heading toward the Citadel.

Rei entered the temple wishing to speak to Relinth about a omen she had received. "Relinth? Are you here?" Called Rei. Rei waited for Relinth's answer.
