 It was rare that slaves in this pack got some time to themselves, but it did happen and Glacier always tried to make the best of his. Thankfully as a teen he was no longer constantly shadowed by Pen's Lynx friend or watched quite as closely and so when the sun was high and his work was finished Glacier enjoyed taking a nap in the sunlight.
Sprawled out alongside the stream he snored on oblivious to anything and everything that might be going on around him. It was to his way of thinking pretty much the perfect way to spend the hottest part of the day, and unlike some of the other slaves he did not feel bad for doing so. His work was finished and he felt no need to curry more favor then he already had.

 Do training. Learn more about the pack. Get into good graces with the Queen. Be named Queen's heir. Azalea had a list of things to do that was a mile long and she didn't have much time to do it in. Her mother dictated her every move now, and even sleep was a rare occasion. As much as Azalea wanted to be the packs rightful heir she also wished for one full night of sleep. Just one morning where her mother didn't force her out of the den well before sun rise and not allow her to return to the den until well after sunset. It would all be worth it in the end, she told herself as she followed the river a bit.
Somehow she had managed to separate herself from her mother long enough to escape and was enjoying this moment of freedom before returning. As she walked her mind was running through the previous days lessons of the packs history, previous Queens and their advisors. Of course those thoughts came to a grinding halt when she spotted a familiar blue pelt up ahead. Hey, shouldn't he be working right now? Oh he was in for a world of hurt, even if he was well over twice her size now. "Hey slave!" She yelled as her paws carried her closer. "You call this doing work?"

Glacier's wonderful afternoon nap was ruined - and it wasn't all that surprising it was ruined by Azalea, smaller she might be but the green menace had some rank on her side. How very irritating and rolling onto his stomach Glacier squinted his eyes against the sun and gave the pup a sour look.
He'd rather enjoyed her recent absence, her mother had been keeping her wonderfully busy and Glacier was vastly pleased by this as it meant she had little time to pursue her favorite pass time - being a pest. "I finished my chores" He told her blandly as she approached, sitting up so that she would have to look up at him and reveling in the fact that he was much larger then her now.

Azalea came to a stop not far from Glacier as he sat up defiantly. He really needed to learn to show more respect to those who outranked him. That was but one of the things on her other to do list once she was the pack official princess. "You know just because you think you are done with your chores doesn't mean that there isn't other work that can be done. Your a slave you know. You do work, and nothing else." Her eyes narrowed a bit, not because of the glaring sun but because of being forced to look up at him to address him. "You will be the first to go when I run this pack."

"Everyone needs rest" He told her with a large yawn before glancing around to make sure no one else was near. They were alone and so he felt safe enough in prodding her a little bit "Surely even you know that - given the way your mothers been harping on you." He commented before allowing his tongue to loll out of his mouth a bit in a wolfish laugh.
"It's adorable that you keep going on about that. The queen is pregnant Assalea....your never actually going to run this pack or be a princess. At most you might become a beta like your mother, but I think even thats a stretch" He told her while eying her critically and tsking as though finding her severely wanting.

"At least my mother is here for me, unlike yours who abandoned you!" She snapped, hoping it was still a sore subject for him even though Penthesilea had in a sense adopted him as her own. Of course what he said next made her growl in anger. "I know she is pregnant you jerk...and you can stop messing up my name, I know you are deliberately doing it!" Of course he didn't do it when others were around, which irritated in a whole other way because she knew he wasn't simply to avoid getting into trouble. "And if the Queen has all males then I will still be able to become the princess." Snorting slightly she had to throw in one last comment in hopes of hitting a nerve with him. "You know the Queen won't love you anymore once her pups are born. You will be nothing to her."

Glacier glowered slightly at the pup's words, being abandoned was indeed still a sore spot with him - but as he'd grown he had also come to understand that there were many reasons his mother might have gone missing, and not all of them meant he had left on purpose. Glacier chose to believe in those options.
"I wouldn't have to call you that if you stopped living up to it" He told her in a nasty tone, part of him wished he could just smack her to the ground - but he was wise enough to know that was an offense he wouldn't be able to get away with. "And your mother won't love you if you don't become the heir" He snapped back, angry that she had managed to unearth yet another sore spot for him "why you'll be lucky if she doesn't ship you off to live with your brothers after your failure"

Azalea could feel her anger coming to the boiling point. If only one of the sisters would come upon them now as Glacier showed her how disrespectful he could be then he would be in for a lashing. But Azalea knew that wouldn't happen, it always seemed that no one was around when Glacier said things like this to her. "Hold your tongue slave or I will remove it for you!" So it wasn't the best threat to have come from her but when she was this mad her process of thinking was clouded by sheer hatred.
Of course as anger as she was Azalea had to admit, begrudgingly of course, that Glacier did have a point. What would her mother do to her if she failed at securing the title of princess. She didn't want to be cast out of the pack and sent to live with her worthless brothers. Giving her head a shake she had to push those thoughts to the back of her head for now, something to think on later when Glacier wasn't around. "Mother would never do that." She told him confidently, though inwardly she now did worry about such a thing happening. "Perhaps the Queen will do a similar thing to you when the pups are born, and ship you off to some other pack, or just abandon you like your mother had before." A vicious smile crossed her maw. "Wouldn't that be a lovely picture, you abandoned for the second time. Cast out like the worthless b*****d that you are."
