Summer was starting to finally show itself around the land. The sun's attendance was begining to become more accounted for, and the rains were shortening. Green flourished from every corner that one were to look, accented with bits of flowering tints to attract the curious eye of insects and possibly `taur.
But the one green that stayed fresh and constant throughout all the seasons was lightly stepping along an unseen path away from town. Cream cloven hooves stepped carefully atop the soft baby grasses beneath him, peeking out of the ground and reaching to the skys. The soft twitter of song birds, the gentle yawn of the wind, and ruffle of vegetation were the only things the Cervi could hear, aside from the sounds and voice that sung in his head from the book that was in his hand. Eyes glued to the parchement pages, the male seemed totally enwrapped in the story that was in his smooth hands, coming to life around him and in his mind. It was a love story, of deciet and betrayal, but truth. And it was rather powerful and entrancing to him. He was heading to his usual place, where he didn't need to even look to know how to get there; as his hooves moved on their own in auto-piolet. The lake was his destination, as it proved to be a very comfortable place to rest while reading, and was usually far enough from the marketplace that he wouldn't be roughed up by any of the larger `taur.

Cheveyo was laying on his back, legs curled up. He was fast asleep, his arms thrown out beside him, and his tail flicking every so often, usually accompanied by an incoherent mumble. Today was his day off. No kids, no hunting, no cleaning, nothing. He got this one day every couple of weeks, so of course, he had almost immediately fallen asleep when he had found an exceptionally comfy patch of grass in a nice bit of shade, shielding him from the summer sun.

Turning a page of his book, the Cervi gave a little hop over a fallen old log, instinctivly. The main female character's life had just ended as the jealous males who were enraged by her games eventually acted out rashly. His brows furrowed as if he could feel the pain from the writing of the book. The fingers holding along the binding gripping slightly to the hardback. Now the two males were turning against one another, blaming each other for their act. It was at this point that the small Cervi came to his usual clearing, and was making his way to his resting area. The plot got more intense, as one of the males pulled out a knife, and lunged at the other. Ears standing straight up, Clayton's leg lifted, but got caught on something. But it was too late to stop now, as his momentum continued, causing him to topple over the slumbering Cheveyo. He could see the whole action happening, his eyes widening as he realized there was no stopping it. Once he thudded to the ground, landing on his chest, rump in the air, he groaned, feeling that past injury of his arm throb lightly as a reminder.

Cheveyo, being built like a wall, was simply awoken by being tripped over. He was rather confused to see the rear and tail of what would appear to be a cervi. Grunting, he shifted his shoulders and turned his head to see the over end of the man, "There are better ways to wake someone," he mumbled tiredly, one eye closed as his cheek rested against the ground, "Are you alright?" He was lucky to be on the slightly larger size (for a cervitaur, at any rate).

Rather frail arms lifted to situate his hands onto the ground, and push his torso up. Legs carefully unlaced from their tangled position and one by one, each cream hoof settled onto the ground, pulling his rump down. Easing up, he rubbed his head, ears flickering as the other hand rubbed along his chest at the bits of grass that clung there. He seemed alright... Suddenly his ears perked, finally regestering what he'd tripped over. Stumbling back away from the other, eyes wide, a flush of embarressment across his face, the smaller males eyes darted to the side, avoiding the other's. With a little hesitant nod, he confirmed that he was fine. He could be so unaware of his surroundings sometimes it was agonizing. "S-so...I'm sorry.." he murmured softly, flattening his ears back.

Cheveyo sat up, pulling his legs underneath him, "Don't worry about it," he said, then yawned widely, ears pressing back as he rubbed his eye. He stood up, using a nearby tree to steady himself, "You're sure you're alright? You took quite the tumble," he said, looking him over with a concerned expression.

The younger male kept his gaze averted, slowly easing himself up too. Wincing once, he faultered just a touch on the leg that had gotten stuck against the side of the much more brawny Cervi's body. But he played it off, flipping his ears back to press hard against his skull. His eyes kept downcast, idly scanning for where his book must have flown off to. "y...yes.." he murmured, almost unaudiably. Great. He'd done something to his leg... it was just like the last time he was walking and reading. He really was a clutz, he was starting to realize about himself. But her refused to make it become someone elses problem again. It was fine. Once he was onto his hooves, he shifted his weight so as to favor his front left leg.

"You've hurt your leg, haven't you?" he sounded even more concerned now. He had been around long enough to know when someone was injured, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been lying like that, I know I blend in too well," he stepped closer, "Let me help you. I'll have a look at it and see what I can do."

Taken aback, somewhat, he shook his head and took a staggered step back, "n-no.. it's fine.." he softly spoke, a distressed look on his face. Leopold would surely make fun of him for this kind of situation... As he usually did. Feeling completly frusterated in the scenerio he'd gotten himself into again, he curled his hoof so as to keep it elivated and hopefully ease off the throbbing that was starting to pulse in time of his heart. Which was beating rapidly by now. "I..I should have.... watched where I was going..." that's what Leo would have said, right? "I-it's fine..." his hands huddled to his chest, eyes continuing to search for his book. And there it was... right by the others hooves. Mouth pressing flat, he intertwined his fingers nervously, looking away from the hardback as if it weren't of interest to him. He could always get another...

Cheveyo was quite astonished by his reaction and his skittish behavior. He was reminded vaguely of when he was young, and smiled lightly. "Please. What kind of man would I be if I just left you hurt like this and went on my way?" He blinked, and looked down at his feet. He bent to retrieve the book, curiously looking it over to see if you could find any clue as to what it may be about, "Is this yours?"

His thumb rubbed against his once injured upper arm in a nervous habit, tail flickering in his anxious state. Swallowing hard to try and calm himself, the quiet male shook his head lightly, "I'm sure... it's nothing.." he articulated gently. A half-hearted smile tried to quirk at the corner of one side of his lips, in a rather forced attempt to show that it wasn't so bad.
As his book was targeted, another sense of embarressment swept over him. It was a slightly... well... female styled book, and it's binding held many imprints of gold decored swirls and vines; almost matching his pelt. Scrunching his nose at the feel of the heat along his face, he nodded again, flicking his tail. Compared to this male, he felt so small, more than usual, and inferior.

"Is this a romance book?" he asked awkwardly, not daring to open it. He'd seen books like these before. Written by women, and very...sensual. He was a little put-off by the book itself, but the fact that this other man was reading it intrigued him slightly. He closed the distance, and offered it to him, "Can I ask your name?" He asked, ears perked curiously.

By now, poor Clayton was compltely embarressed by his stature compared to this other male. Head tilting down to try and hide the colour of his face, he flicked an ear, and gave the smallest hints of a nod. He'd never experianced it for himself, so he had to live through it with books... It made the yearning heart calm for awhile. Another nervous twitch of his tail made him lean back from the older male, feeling the want to flee tickling in his stomach. This was another thing that Leo would pick at him about, which is why he came here to read such things; away from others who would certainly make fun of his habit.
As he saw the hard case of the book come into his lowered view, his pale green eyes rose slightly to look along it, noting the other males grip on it. Pausing a moment in hesitation, he rose a hand to gently hold at the other side in acceptance, "Thank... you..." he murmured softly, once the book was in possession. Holding it close to his chest, he let his tumb rub lightly along the spine in a nervous habit. Eyes rising to rest at the others waist, he looked off to the side, "Clayton.. De`Bou..sir.." his soft voice barely muttered.

"Clayton," he craned his neck down to try and look at the other taur's face, "Why won't you look at me?" The other cervi seemed nervous, perhaps insecure, and Cheveyo felt guilty for tripping him up. That, combined with the fact that the poor guy was definitely hurt, make Cheveyo persist with trying to get him communicate, and hopefully accept a little assistance.

Ears flipping up like flags, his eyes nervously darted up to the others, lingering there for a moment, before feeling awkward and looking to the side, "I... I'm sorry... I just... I feel... a bit.. embarressed.. I guess...." he murmured, his voice growing quieter, and quieter the further he spoke. His fingers clutched a little tighter to the book, glancing a few times towards the older male before retreating back to the sides. If there was any time he felt vunerable, now would be it...
