*This RP happened a few days before Tartaros*

The sky was a beautiful burst of orange, purple and gray as the sun set. A star gazer could clearly see through to the heavens as the sky was crystal clear and the stars were already starting to light up, one by one. It seemed nature was ready to sleep. Denizens of Destiny City; however, were still very active as the crowds continued to fill the heart of Destiny City. The shops and their lights lit up the now darkening sky. Noel Yalda had just gotten off the subway when he arrived in the heart of the city. He was wearing a white tank top and gray cargo shorts with his usual black flip flop sandals. Swim practice had just ended and he was invigorated and pumped for the night. He wasn't sure exactly why though. Sure, he always had a tinge of Energizer bunny in him and was happy to keep going and going, but the energy he felt was almost something entirely different. Nervous perhaps? No, surely not. After all, what did Noel have to be nervous about? The sky was clear and the city was thriving. Nothing new or menacing was around him. Still, he couldn't place why he felt so odd.

Hmm. . . Maybe I need something to eat? Something to shake off this energy.

Noel scanned the immediate area carefully. He wanted something that didn't fill him up, but also something that wouldn't be a complete waste of money. Neon pink lights and a golden sign caught the young swimmer's eyes. The local bakery was offering fresh croissants and hot tea for a reasonable price.

Bingo.

He quickly pushed through the crowd and made his way inside the quaint and now glowing store. The line was nonexistent when he walked in and he was able to purchase a snake of two croissants and a cup of hot sencha green tea. He took small sips of the refreshingly bitter beverage. He then looked around the shop for a moment. The walls were lined with delicious treats and concoctions. He sipped his tea as he gazed around at not only the beautifully designed cakes and cookies, but also the people who filled the store.

It was amazing how ridiculous the cat's requests were becoming these days. They hadn't even been on patrol. No. Ellie and the cat had merely been at the Spectre house, Ellie working on her car in the garage. She thought it was going to be simple. Thought today would be the day she'd get time to work in peace and quiet.

Nope. Ellie was wrong.

"...I'm hungry..."

"Yer always hungry, cat!" the tomboy retorted.

"If you got my cast taken off, I'd be able to go on my own."

"Yer still supposed t'wear that cast fer at least another week, cat. Jus' relax."

This answer wasn't good enough. "Please take me to the baker's?"

"No."

"Please?"

"No."

"Pleeeeeeease?"

"No."

In the end, after five minutes of this back-and-forth battle of wills, the score was *********: 1, Ellie: -7. The cat had gotten what she wanted just by being persistent. As she glanced down to the cat in her arms, the tomboy couldn't help but feel a bit of resentment at how spoiled this cat was becoming. Whine a bit, and she got what she wanted. As were the cat's instructions, the blonde managed to find her way to the baker's. It was a bit strange that ********* knew how to give directions to this particular baker, but the cat had been known to do stranger things before as well. The bell at the door jingled as the girl pushed her hand in the middle of the glass on the door (leaving an obnoxious handprint behind).

The whole interior of the building smelled like sugar. Rather notably, the girl made a face. Sweets and Ellie got along like oil and water. While attempting to ignore the stench of sweetness in the air, the rather tall girl wandered up to the counter and rang the bell (as were ********* instructions earlier). Thanks to a certain cat's harassment prior to arrival, Ellie wasn't even in the mood to offer a simple wave to the young man also present.

Where as her girl failed to pay attention to the young man, the cat on the other hand almost seemed to have her eyes glued to him the instant they arrived. As Ellie walked past, the tailless feline attempted to shuffle as best as she could so she could keep her pale green eyes on the boy.

It felt like something was poking at her brain. This was the feeling she got when someone was a senshi. However, there was something slightly different about this feeling. There was that slight itchy feeling, which made it feel a bit more uncomfortable. In an effort to make sure this boy didn't get away, ********* did the only thing she could do at the moment thanks to her current cast-wearing leg.

She began to insistently mew out in the boy's direction. Even without using words, it was obvious she was saying "Pay attention to me!"

The blonde quirked up a brow at the sudden noises the bundle of fur in her arms began to make. "********, cat?"

Thanks to the oddly busy streak the bakery was experiencing while Noel was casually inspecting each sweetened treat, he barely noticed the ringing that the bell made as each new patron entered the sugar-filled establishment. Though the two croissants and the cup of hot tea were refreshing after practice, he still couldn't shake the nervous feeling that had plagued him since he first changed out of his swim trunks an hour before. A slight chill ran down his back though as he started to inspect a strawberry shortcake inspired cupcake tray.

What is this feeling? I can't shake it.

However, his thoughts were quickly interrupted when he noticed that not only had someone brought a cute purple cat into the bakery, but that is was also very interested in him to say the least. Or Noel thought so since it was looking directly at him and meowing incessantly. He then moved away from the display counter and moved closer to the purple cat and its blonde master. He casually gave the cat a pat on the head. Then smiled at the owner.

"Hi there, I think your cat likes me."

He took another sip of tea, but the smile somehow seemed to beam through to the new faces that Noel had encountered. Though he wasn't one who never met a stranger, he couldn't help, but to be intrigued by a purple cat in a bakery. Especially since it had a cute little cast.

Ellie didn't smile. Rather plainly, she mentioned "Ain't my cat." ********* belonged to nobody, or at least that was the impression she had gotten. Of course, now this guy was probably wondering what the hell she meant by that. However, the tomboy didn't care. She wasn't going to claim something that wasn't hers.

The pale feline seemed to thrive off the simple head pat, naturally leaning her head right into the touch, immediately melting into abundant purrs. The moment the hand moved away, she mewed out a trill of "cutie" cat noises, as if asking why he had stopped.

For not being able to actually speak the language of cats, ********* certainly did a good job faking it.

From the back room, a short young lady with dark hair emerged. As she glanced up towards the new customer, she found a familiar face.

Not in the girl, but in the cat.

"Miss Muffers?" the young lady uttered out before leaning forward and rather easily scratching the feline behind the ears, just as she always liked.

Ellie nearly burst out laughing at the name, but she had sense enough to hold back for now. This was something she could rub in the cat's face later. Instead, her eyes flickered to the woman as she simply asked "I take it ya know th'cat?"

The easy answer was a simple "Yes." However, ********* wouldn't be the one to give that answer. Oh no, she was too busy leaning into ear scratches, purring contently.

Noel gave ********* another pat on the head as he spoke back to Ellie. He didn't really like animals that much and was never one to randomly go up and pet someone's cat or dog, but this cat seemed different somehow. Like he was supposed to see her or maybe he had seen her a long time ago. He honestly wasn't sure how to feel about the cat before, much less the owner, but still he kept his casual grin and continued to indulge the both of the them.

"Aw, that's too bad. This cat seems like a really sweet animal. I'm Noel, it's nice to meet the both of you. Sorry to suddenly interrupt your visit to the bakery. I hope you aren't being held up by our conversation."

It really wasn't much of a conversation yet, but Noel still felt oddly attached to the cat, more so than any other animal he had encountered in his life, well except some dolphins he saw as a kid. Those just happen to make a six-year old Noel very happy on his birthday.

What is it about this cat? It's almost like she is the one making me feel so nervous and fidgety.

The Miss Muffers comment went completely over the ash blonde's head. He just thought that was the name of another customer in the bakery. He took another sip of tea as he looked over the girl holding the cat. Not as in checking her out, since he didn't really swing that way, but still he was curious about everyone he met.

The woman behind the counter nodded her head at the blonde girl's question. "Oh yes, Miss Muffers used to be quite the regular here." She paused and gave the cat a scratch under the chin, practically cooing to the feline "Oh yes you were!"

Ellie wanted to roll her eyes.

"Such a strange little cat. She always came to visit on Saturdays, like today." The unmentioned question seemed to reach Ellie as her eyes connected with the dark ones of the woman. "Is this your cat?"

It was probably against any sort of health regulations, but the tomboy lifted the cat up and onto the counter, setting the broken-legged manx down. "Ain't my cat... found'er with that broken leg."

"Oh? That was rather nice of you. Now, what can I help you with?" The woman smiled and grabbed a pad of paper obviously meant to write down orders.

"Eh... I ain't much on th'sweets, lady. Jus' get that cat somethin' that she'd usually eat." She smiled, but it was more of an apologetic one.

The dark-haired woman chuckled. "Irene. My name is Irene. And I take it this cat has been eating you out of house and home." Pausing to clap her hands together, she turned her attentions to the pale spotted cat. "Well, Miss Muffers! Let me go ahead and get you a sugar cookie cake, just like you always liked!"

From her new perch, the feline let out an enthusiastic meowing sound, followed by a pleased trill. Her pale green eyes remained on the woman, despite the fact her mind was insisting upon tending to her duties as a Guardian Cat. Oh, the tough decisions ********* had to make all in the name of food.

Since there was no longer a dialogue going on between Ellie and Irene, Ellie's attention returned to the ash blonde boy. "Th'cat's more trouble than she's worth, if ya ask me... Noel was it?" She grinned. "Ain't interruptin' a damned thing... I can't stand sweets t'be honest." Since he had introduced himself, she figured she could do the exact same, just to be polite. She thrust out her right hand. "Name's Ellie." There was a slight pause before she had to ask something that had come to mind. "...so, how often do ya get Christmas jokes 'bout yer name, eh?"

A chuckle escaped the ash blonde's lips as he watched the cat enthusiastically embrace the notion of getting something sweet. He took another sip of his tea as thought about how odd it was to see a cat that excited about sweets. However, since the cat was different than any other he had encountered, he wasn't that surprised. Noel then watched the exchange between the cashier and Ellie. She certainly wasn't as excited about the purple cat as the cashier. He then understood who Miss Muffers was and why the cashier had called out the name earlier. So, the cat had a reputation at bakeries. That was cute, but strange none the less that a bakery would be catering to house pets. However, He didn't ponder on this took long since his attention was once again on Ellie.

"I prefer baked breads and pastries, but not so much a big fan of sweets. I like more savory flavors I guess."

He then took the young lady's hand and shook it firmly. Not so much that her arm was flailing, but firm enough. He laughed again.

"It's nice to meet you Ellie! You certainly have found an interesting cat. And I get those just about every time someone meets me. That is, if they celebrate Christmas or any kind of winter holiday that would be associated with Santa. I don't think I've met an Ellie before though. Do you come to this bakery often?"

He hadn't heard the full exchange between Ellie and Irene, so he assumed that since the cat was so comfortable here, that Ellie must be a regular shopper for the purple cat. He kept his grin beaming at the young lady though, he hadn't expected such an interesting encounter, especially in a bakery of all places. The nervous energy that had plagued him earlier seemed to fade ever so slightly, but only just a little. He still felt that something was off or different about this particular night.

Noel might have been surprised, but Ellie's grip was just as firm, if not firmer. It almost felt as if he was shaking the hand of a guy. Her head bobbed up and down at a bunch of his comments, but one thing managed to catch her attention which did not receive such a reaction.

"...No... I ain't a fan of bakeries... th'cat jus' started gettin' all kinds of noisy when we were passin'... so I figgered I'd get 'er somethin'..."

Rather suddenly, the feline's ears perked up, and her attentions seemed to go back towards the room which Irene had shuffled off to earlier. There seemed to be no reason for it, however, only the cat could sense what had just happened.

Youma

Once more, she insistently began to mew out, almost as if concerned.

The girl's gold eyes glanced to the cat, quirking an eyebrow at the way the cat was carrying on. "Th'f*ck, cat?" She edged closer to the tailless feline on the counter.

And then there was a scream.

********* cries distracted Boreas from Ellie and the rest of the shop. He had already felt anxious, so when the purple feline seemed concerned, Noel felt his heart beat faster. He already had so much nervous energy, that most anything would have put him on edge, and since the cat's cries seemed to have caught the attention of not only himself, but also Ellie, he felt more alarmed by the situation.

"What's the--"

His words were cut off by the scream that came from the back storage room. Noel then quickly put his cup of tea on the counter and turned to Ellie.

"Should we go see if everything is alright? That sounded kinda serious."

His eyes had widened from the incident and he knew that something besides the usual kitchen mishap had occurred since the scream seemed more life threatening. He hoped that the young counter waitress was alright and that nothing had harmed her. His concern mounting with each passing moment.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 15, 2010 10:09 am

********* mewing + screams in back room = time to get serious. It was one thing for the cat to get fussy, but it was another for her to get fussy with cause, and that scream definitely was a pretty good cause.

Ellie didn't seem to pay attention to the prompting from Noel. No. Instead, she began to firmly give the instructions of "Git out!" There was no explanation, and the girl literally put her hands on their shoulders, and began to forcefully move them towards the door. There was a string of bell tinkles as people shuffled out, wondering what the hell was going on?

The last person she got to was the ash blonde that had been talking to her. She placed her hand on his shoulder and was about to give him the exact same treatment, when a voice firmly gave her instructions.

"Get in the back room and I'll take care of him."

It certainly seemed like that voice came from nowhere, at least for the boy, but the girl stared at the source with a brow lofted. She didn't reply, but instead she literally hopped over the counter and began to make her way into the back room.

"So... Noel, was it?" The cat's pale green eyes fixed upon his pale ones. Her maw opened and shut, and voice came out corresponding to her movements. It was just so painfully obvious she was actually talking.

And as was usual, she gave the warning right away. "This is not a dream."

The ash blonde's eyes remained widened as he couldn't even speak for a few seconds. Was Ellie really herding people out of the store in droves? Did she work at the bakery? Did they have time to be worrying about others when that lady has just let out a blood curdling scream? So many questions and while he tried to sort it all out in his mind, he became aware that he was now one of the sheep being herded out by the shoulders. He turned to say that he could help, but before he could, the impossible happened. The store said something!

"Who the hell just said that? The store?"

Now he was incredibly perplexed. He knew that the only people left in the store were Ellie and himself. He knew that. Who else could have just spoken to him? However, he didn't have to wait long before he was set free from the herder's grasp and Noel came face to face with the purple feline called ********* you just talk to me?"

It was a dumb, obvious question, but necessary none the less to the ash blonde. He stared back at her for a moment. Then with a very dumbfounded expression, he replied.

"Uh okay, so you can talk. That's cool. I think? Umm what exactly are we talking about?"

He knew that he hadn't felt right since swim practice earlier that day, he knew that he couldn't shake the nervous energy that had plagued him, and he knew that ********* was different somehow, he knew all this, but he would have never, never, in a million years settled on the conclusion that the cat could talk. He quickly brought his hands to his face and gave each cheek a hard slap, then shut his eyes tightly and took a few deep breathes. He needed to confirm he was facing reality. He needed to be reminded that the stinging sensation his cheeks were experiencing was real and not some hallucination or side effect of inhaling too much chlorine at the pool.

"Uhh okay. Looks like you are correct. I am not dreaming. So, ********* the talking cat. Why are we in a bakery and why are you talking to me?'
PostPosted: Tue Jun 15, 2010 11:09 pm

The cat let out a rather airy giggle at his question. Humorously, she replied "I am the doughnut talking to you... woooOOOOoooooOOoOoooo!" She laughed again. In the face of danger, and the somewhat round cat still found time to find humor in the situation.

With her neck, she gestured by turning her head towards behind the counter.

"Do me a favor and pick me up. Climb over the counter, then pick me up and set me on the ground please." It seemed like a simple enough request. However, it was either this, or she was going to have to literally drop herself off the counter (which may have worried Noel a bit).

Ellie had gone into the back room and once she was certain nobody was able to see her, henshined up into Sailor Iris. She then cautiously began to stalk about the back area. In a cautious tone, she occasionally attempted to coax the baker out of hiding with a simple "Irene? Ya 'round?" The senshi rounded a large pile of boxes, and though she didn't find the woman, she did find a rather interesting sight. Another stack of boxes had been knocked over.

Unless Irene was randomly angry at work, the only other possible explanation was that there was something in the bakery. Most likely a Youma. Narrowing her eyes, the yellow-suited senshi continued to investigate.

********* witty comment went right over the Noel's head. He was born blonde for a reason and this was one of those times were most things that weren't blatantly stated were going to go over his head. He stared blankly as he heard a laugh escape the cat's mouth. For some reason, each new word that the feline spoke amazed him. His mind kept trying to rationalize the situation.

Maybe it's a parlor trick. Maybe she can just mimic a few words. You know, like a parrot?

However, he was quickly shown that the cat was fully capable of carrying a conversation all on her own and didn't need someone to mimic. He was snapped out of his loss for reason when he heard the cat's request. Like a good boy, he did as he was told. He hopped over the counter and then placed the purple feline gently on the ground. He still wasn't sure how stable she was with her cast and he still felt a bit weird about how to hold her properly. His mind felt like it was in three places at once. One part was listening to a talking cat and obeying her every command. The other was still trying to reason why a cat could talk, much less talk so naturally. The third part was concerned about Irene and Ellie. Speaking of Ellie, that brought up more questions. What did she think she could do? Was she trained to handle such a situation? Too much was going on for Noel to properly process. So, he did what he normally did when things got too complicated: chill out and just go with the flow. He stopped thinking about the how, why, when, and what the hell was going. So what? There was a talking cat in an now abandoned bakery. Some girl he had just met went all commando on the entire bakery and was well equipped for the situation. Great! Good news for him. He would rather just go with it, then question it. In all honesty, he didn't really think he could fully process and rationalize all of this in time for the lady in the back to be saved, so might as well roll with the punches.

When the boy silently picked her up and set her on the ground, she offered a simple "Thank you, Noel" before something strange happened.

After the boy let the cat go and backed up slightly, the cat simply changed into a girl right before his eyes. It wasn't anything fancy or magical with glitter swirling around her. No, she simply was one moment a cat, and within the blink of an eye, was now a silver haired girl (who was definitely much shorter than this boy). Surprisingly, there was no more cast. It had just vanished. Taking off her hat with her left hand and leaning forward, she offered a rather nice performer's bow. With her hat off, her feline ears were rather noticeable. It was also pretty obvious that though the cast was missing, it still seemed to have an effect upon her right arm, which remained a bit limp at her side.

When she was finished with her bow, she stood up straight again, placing her hat back on her head in its proper place. "Now, I have something for you, Noel... so I want you to watch my left hand carefully for a moment." She winked at him and smiled. "It's like a magic trick, so you don't want to miss it."

With that, she held out her left hand, palm open and closed her eyes. As she began to concentrate, there was a faint glow that began to emanate from her palm.

This senshi... is Sailor Boreas... she finally managed to locate the name in her mind. He is the senshi... of... Winter? As her mind finally wrapped upon who this senshi was, a pen with a white base began to magically fade in from where ever it had been, and next to it, a phone of the same color also began to appear.

As she continued to concentrate on her current task, she couldn't help but think of one thing: This one belongs to Zue.

A gloved hand pushed aside some of the toppled boxes, just to make sure nothing was underneath them. Fortunately and unfortunately, she didn't find anything. "Dude, Irene, this ain't funny! Speak up!!" This wasn't a horror movie, and Sailor Iris wasn't scared. In fact, her voice sounded more annoyed than anything. She rounded the pile of boxes, and headed towards what looked like a rack of bread. There were loaves upon loaves. The side that the yellow suited senshi could see didn't look suspicious, but as she walked around it to see what was on the other side, she was a body doubled over. Dark hair was mussed up on the ground, and the body was barely breathing. The rack just above the body was one with cookie cakes on it (no surprise there).

"Son ova' b*tch!" the blonde cursed as she knelt down and began to position the body in a slightly more comfortable manner. Though she was a bit aggravated (to say the least), there was one thing that she mentally acknowledged. If she could kill the Youma fast enough, there'd be a chance to save this lady.

Only problem now was to find the Youma.

(Note: If for some reason Boreas ICly is not supposed to have a senshi phone, then ignore that portion of the post :B )

Not much was really sinking in for Noel. The cat had just talked, a girl had went Rambo and ordered everyone out, and now the cat had turned into a girl. His first thought was that he should really consider an open air pool. Something where the chlorine doesn't just stay in the air, killing brain cells, and causing nice young swimmers (like himself) to hallucinate or hopefully just go crazy. Oh, how he hoped he was just going crazy. Then there would be some kind of cure or treatment. Crazy sounded good right now. He then pushed those thoughts away and watched as the young cat girl's palm glowed with a faint light. What lay there a few seconds later was an oddly decorated white pen. He knew it somehow. Like he had seen it before. Not recently, not even in his lifetime, but he knew it. The nervous energy that had plagued him slowly started to dissipate. Not fully, but whatever was going to happen was happening now. He felt it. Something big was about to happen. Something that he couldn't really express in words or even in a coherent thought. It was more of a feeling, a sensation that he couldn't really comprehend. He then took his eyes off the pen and looked the silver haired girl in the eye.

"Is that for me? This really isn't the time to write some notes, you know."

The grin returned to his face. Humor was a great coping mechanism for insanity, and more than likely, Noel was going to have to get used to this kind of insanity.
