I was walking the campus of my new college and I saw a dude wearing a Paganfest shirt. That was a cool surprise.

I saw some drunk guy with an Amon Amarth T-Shirt, and I see this one 40 year old guy with In Flames shirts all the time. But other than that I pretty much know everyone else in my town who likes Metal.

I saw a dude with a t-shirt that said "I`m a whore,do it"
I don`t think he could read English.

lol.

It's always cool to see some random person wearing a shirt of a band or event you never expect people to know, though.

Thing is though, Metal isn't really all that underground anymore.

I'd be much more suprised to see someone wearing a Cyanotic(Coldwave), Alborosie(Reggae), or Wolfe Tones(Irish Folk) shirt than I would a big name festival like Paganfest. However its still cool to see people wearing shirts of bands that good, regardless of the genre and/or popularity. I mean, it seems most people have such terrible taste in music.

Metal shirts are being abused these days.

If I see a rising pop-star in a "good morning" show on tv, wearing an Iron Maiden shirt along with the regular pop-like clothes...

At least Doda (you remember when I told you she's Nergal gf?) hasn't decided to wear a Behemoth shirt on stage or something similiar...

Maybe, but whos to say the pop stars don't like Metal?

I think calling Paganfest "big name" is a bit of an overstatement. I mean sure, online you can find people who know what it is, and obviously there are enough attendees to call it a "fest", but in the US a pretty small proportion of the population knows even the well established modern metal bands.

For my part, even at shows for bands like Killswitch Engage (which in my opinion is about as close to metal as you can get these days without actually BEING metal) I don't meet many people who have heard of anything more obscure than Children of Bodom. Fans of Korpiklaani and Finntroll, while on the rise, are still a novelty.

I agree with the rest of your statement, though.

Paganfest is endorsed and put on by big name things, anyone who is even remotely interested in Metal must have heard about it, sure others may not, but there are millions of people into Metal now, or likes a few select bands. Paganfest is advertised by Revolver Magazine, a very popular 'Metal' magazine read by thousands of people. Hot Topic also advertises it, I don't think I have to tell you how popular that place is. To say its not a big name fest, especially since its in its third year running now is kind of silly.

Its no Ozzfest, but its also not anything like Maryland Deathfest, Seattle Metal Fest, etc, a stay put festival pretty much only known by those who live around there or people heavily into Metal. Paganfest is a traveling festival so it also makes it a very well known one because it pretty much goes everywhere, even Europe(or perhaps technically I should say even the U.S. since its a Europe based festival).

Whether you want to believe it or not, it is a big name festival and Metal is one of the top 5 biggest genres listened to.

Something tells me this is more than a coincidence.

Probably, he asked my what my favorite band was, I told him Amon Amarth. He liked me a lot after that, we got along great. lol

Oh, let them. But somehow this t-shirt didn't belong there in the whole image of this chick at that given time.
