Orion (Syaoran-Puu) and Niobe (Doodle p***s)
Recording of a PMed RP!

Orion
Orion couldn't help looking up at the clouds, they swirled and danced and made shapes of things he knew. Right now he could see a frog, or maybe it was a dog? How could you really tell since the clouds always seemed to move and dance. In a way Orion always felt they where taunting him, after all they where way up in the sky -a place he could only dream of. As a child he had cursed his mutant father for his genes, first he had left their mother while pregnant and second he had faulty genes making both Orions and Lior's wings nothing but buds that didn't open until late into his adolesent years. Unlike most who were born with wings this meant that he had never had the chance as a foal to practise and get used to his wings, as an adult he just looked like a fool attempting to fly as if everyone simply expected him to know how to do it. Lior had learn quickly, only having two wings to contend with. But Orion had several, each moved seperatly, each seemed to have a mind of their own.... each drove Orion crazy.

And so he stared at the clouds, watching as they raced by when a random thought occured to him..... where did the clouds go in such a rush? They always seemed to be on the move, never stopping. Suddenly consumed by this thought Orion found his four legs carrying him at top speed in the direction of the cloud movement, the wind blowing his hair into his eyes and over his neck. The thin membrane of his wings fluttering and waving on their own. He felt free yet at the same time longing. A longing to be true free. To fly.

After what felt like forever Orion could run no more. His breath sharp and short as his lungs struggled to take in any air. Looking around he noticed he had reached a mountain path. Strange... he had never noticed it before. Where did it go?

Niobe
Since her descent from the mountain peaks, Niobe had found the lower lands to be a bit confusing, and had worn the rarely used paths to the mountain into fresh looking trails, she couldn't help it! She didnt have anywhere else to go really, unless she was asking to get lost..again. Thankfully she'd ran into her niece, who was more than happy to help her back to the little grove of flowers she called home, for now anyways.

Niobe's petite frame hovered above the newly blossomed summer wild flower, she couldnt help but gaze at the blue beauty in awe, blue, oranges, purples and teal flowers always seemed to be the ones to lure her into the flowery embrace, not that she minded, it helped the bees pollinate them.

Though, the vibration of hooves against the earth caught her attention, the petals of the flower vibrated under her hooves, her ears perked forward as she turned towards the only real opening to the grove. She wondered who would be visiting her today? Hopefully not her brother, who always insisted that she say with him and his family and their two new sons..but that wasnt for her. In truth, she was jealous of her brothers happiness, sort of.

Orion
Orion was lost in thought as he trotted carefully forward, heart beating steady in his chest but the anticipation of discovering.... well anything.... was fluttering through him from head to hoof. It didn't take long for him to enter a grove, the archway actually caused him to stop and look up in awe. Flowers mixed and woven within leaves, nature at its most magnificent. He could have stood there for a lot longer but something else caught his attention. Breathing and other sounds that usually indicated another.

Turning automactically, tugging his wings together so that the individual slats folded on top of the other to make his wings appear as small as possible. Despite the fact that he hated his Kalona heritage and loves his mothers Dragonfly ties he had never been able to find much love for his own wings.

Looking forward he saw a beautiful mare, petite frame with big hair of black and pink. Something about her wings caught his attention, so much different to any he had ever seen again, more of a butterfly than of a dragonfly -he supposed that it made them almost different species. Stepping closer but with obvious hesitation he stopped several paces away from her and looked around a little for a 'conversation starter'. Orion had never been very good at talking directly to begin with -strange perhaps- it was then he noticed that flowers that surrounded her. Beautiful and delicate, a rainbow of colours. Before he could hold his tongue he said, "You look like a rose amoung all these other flowers." Realisation of what he had said dawned on him and his cheeks flooded as pink at the strangers wings and hair.

Niobe
Upon the sight of the stallion coming into her view, she landed on the ground beside the flowers, she couldnt help but laugh softly at his comment, before she let herself relax enough to grow into her full size, which wasn't that large in the first place, a good head shorter than most mares, Niobe, thanks to her flutterblood was a very small and petite mare indeed.

She sent a beaming smile at the stallion, relaxing as she could see that he was no threat to her, nor the flowers in the hidden grove that she seemed to love so much already. Her eyes drifted to his wings, she hadnt seen anything like them before, but then again there were several things she'd not seen in these lands still.

"Why thank you, though I believe they are the roses and I am naught but a humble fly among them." She said as her gaze lowered to the flowers, her voice was velvet like the night sky, serene and soothing. "Im Niobe, and its a great pleasure to have company."

Orion
Orion was suddenly very unsure of himself, he shifted on his front hooves and adjusted his wings without conciously thinking about it. He just hope that she didn't believe him to be a freak like a few did when he was a foal - he didn't do 'inspections' very well. Gulping softly and focing himself to focus on her words and the pink of her hair rather than himself he gave her a small shy smile and watched her change size. He envied her ability to do that, his mother could change size too, and although Orion had managed to shrink a little his fathers genes had severly messed him up and so even 'shrunk' he looked like a medium sized horse while in full form he was rather large. Both he and Lior were much larger than their mother so he knew that must have been a characteristic they shared with their father -despite never meeting him.

"Nyobe?" He asked tilting his head a little. He liked the taste of it on his tongue, although he knew he probably said it wrong -he usually did. "It is a pretty name, but you should be careful with it. There is power in a name." Although he truely did believe that it was not something he usually spoke of, especially not so bluntly. His pink blush returned and his mind forced him to wonder if he would ever be able to just talk to someone without feeling he was under scuntiny or that he was making a fool of himself. Tree's didn't talk back or laugh at him. He liked trees. And that caused him to look at the flowers surrounding the delicate flutter. She was here alone, surrounded by something else that nature created -was it possible she too enjoyed someone to talk to that wouldn't judge? Spurred on by that idea he saw her worthy of his name, "I am Orion." It pained him a little that his mother Edel had gifted him such a name in the hope that he too would one day become a fighter like his older half brother.

Although she had said it was a pleasure to have company he wanted to make sure he was interupting her solitude, he didn't like feeling he was truely unwanted. "Do you mind if I stay for a while?"

Niobe
She watched him, carefully, to be young again she thought, she wouldnt trade her age, for that. To feel awkward, to feel like a freak on display for all to see, and be judged, she gave a faint shudder, oh no thank you, she thought she was happy not to really care anymore what others thought of her, liked her or not. Most saw her as a weak, tiny little bug..but she was anything but weak, or a bug, she thought with a gentle nod of her head, anything but. Well..she was little..she grinned at the thought.

She smiled, "Thank you, my father named my brother and I." She tilted her head to the side for a moment, power in a name, "What sort of power is in a name?" she asked, it wasnt something she heard often, and well she did enjoy learning new things, maybe there was something this young stallion could teach her. As he offered her, his own name, she felt honored, as if she'd just been given a gift that few others had been allowed to know, "Orion..I like it." She said with a firm nod of her head, "It fits you. Its strong..bold, yes, I do believe it fits you well." She said with a smile, her wings fluttering lightly in the breed.

"No, I dont mind at all, as I said, it would be a pleasure to have some company, specially of a fine young stallion like yourself."

Orion
Orion felt to twanges in his chest. One over the fact that her father had gifted her such a beautiful name -when his was no where to be seen. And two that she saw him a young. In truth he wasn't as young as he often appeared, Lior had always said he was a colt at heart and that she doubted that would ever shifted. But he was trying. Trying to gain in confidence, to not see himself as a freak but the taunts of his childhood burnt too brightly in his mind. If they had had there way he would be dead now, smoothered forever in the ash of roaring flames that had caused him to cover and retreat into his mind. He hesitated again, really not sure what to say. He was anything but strong and bold, and Orion didn't suit him in the sence most thought of. Perhaps one day he would earn such a noble name.

It took him a short moment to catch his breath and collect his thoughts again, he had a bad habit of thinking too much and becoming distracted so easily. That too he was trying to change. "Thank you." Was all he could manage at first, unsure if correcting her would be polite or not. In his eyes he believed them both to be roughly the same age, she may have been a little older but with his personality it was sometimes hard to tell the truth.

He walked towards her softly, deciding to seek preference in actions rather than words. His side gently bumped into her as he passed to smell the flowers that hung beside her. Beautiful. This little secret of hers was truely beautiful. All the colours of the rainbow lingered, and the scents that filled his nose tantalised his sences. "What is your faviourite flower?" He said at last, when he finally tilted his head from the flowers to her.

Niobe
She tried not to watch, as it seemed he was having an inner battle with himself, she felt such things were usually personal, and most kept them to themselves. If only he knew, that her own father had left when she was starting to grow out of foal-hood, though he had left for noble reasons, he'd never returned, though she thought back and couldnt truly blame him, her mother was a monstrous beast..or well she had been.

She nodded her head, and give him a soft smile, "Your welcome, though there is no need to thank me." She said with a light off handed shrug of her shoulder. "I've done nothing to be thanked for, even if it is polite, no need to be on such formalities with me."

She quivered lightly at the gentle touch, before she turned to gaze at the flowers he was enjoying at the moment, she so loved to be around such beauty, it made her feel so calm and peaceful, grateful to be around to enjoy in such beauty. "The passion flower, though it tends to like, a bit warmer climate, it is able to flourish beautifully almost anywhere." She nodded with a wistful sigh, "And it sings such beautiful songs."

Orion
He tried to take note that she didn't wish for formalities, and part of Orion truely was pleased by that but another part became confused. If he wasn't being formal then he wasn't sure how he would speak -maybe like he did with Lior? He generally didn't speak much to others. He nodded softly, deciding not to talk more in fear of making a fool of himself.

He took a deep breath, the smell of all the flowers hit his nose and he could almost hear the symphony of smells, colours and sounds dancing around him. Some may not understand her comment about flowerings singing but he did. He loved talking to nature, it never wanted anything in return. Never made him feel out of place. Never judged. It just was. Elegance and beauty combinded with an undeniable sence of awe at what mother nature could achieve.

"What's it look like? I don't think I know of that flower." Orion knew of roses, orchids, daisies and other flowers that his mother had told him were good gifts to give lady friends. Not that Orion had ever had one to give such pretty things to. His sister Lior had better luck, she had found her mate as a child and they where very happy together -even if he reminded Orion of a giant peacock always strutting around with his feathers on display. Returning his attention to the flowers and his companion he turned and gave her a soft genuine smile, "I bet it sings beautifully."

Niobe
If he had spoken his thoughts, or she could read his mind, she would have agreed 100%. After her brother was forced out, and she no longer had any family left among her herd, she was happy to still be able to enjoy the familiarity of flowers that mother nature had gifted to the mountain peaks, hearty flowers that could withstand such temperatures. They had given her comfort when she had no one..She owed much to her love of nature.

"Well, it has soft large purple petals at the bottom, with small squiggly like threads that come out of the middle, that are a darker purple that fade into a light blue at the ends, and then a large stigma that has several branches to it that is a yellowish color. Though, the colors of the plant itself varies from the different species of it, just the purple ones are my favorite. They've got a sweet, and yet spicy scent to them." She knew plenty about flowers, and plants, being good with herbs had made her a healer of sorts in her herd, among her other duties as lead mare, but that was in the past now, and her home, and future was here in the lower lands.

At his final comment, her ears keened forward, she held a look of surprise. Not many understood, or accepted her gift. It wasn't just the throb of the life that pulsed through them that she could hear, it was their story, from seed to present, what they needed, what ailed them, they sung it to her in sweet tones generally. But, many thought she was sick in the head for such an idea, she didnt generally go into great detail, but for the moment, she simply stared and then smiled at him. "It's a song I never tire of hearing.."

Orion
Orion listened carefully, trying to commit the details to memory incase he ever wanted to seek one out for her. As soon as that thought crossed his mind he froze. Why would he think such things? Not once in all his meetings had he ever returned to meet them again, they had never worked out well anyways. He was a freak in the eyes of most and he accepted that.

Yet something seemed different about this mare, she didn't seem like the rest. Except when she just stared at him. His heart pounded within his chest. Was she about to turn on him too? Had he said something wrong? Maybe he really should just go back to ignoring others and stick to the trees and the clouds. Maybe he could devote time to learning to fly.... or something.

But then she spoke, and he felt something crack inside him. He had expected her to turn on him but she still stood there, and now that he was looking closer he noted that she seemed just as suprised as him, but that she was suprised for a different reason. Had she expected him to run? Or laugh? Did she too see herself as a freak?

Smiling softly to replace his suprised he tried to speak. "I...I..." but he could not find the words. He face moved towards hers, he wasn't even aware of the moment until he felt her hot breath against his nose and smelt her delicious smell.

What was he doing? Pulling back suddenly he felt a blush consume his cheeks as he tried to speak. Each word was haky, "....I bet it's a lovely sound..." He didn't want to say sorry to her, he didn't want to draw attention to what he had just done -or nearly done. He had nearly kissed her, but the action was so alien to him he had no idea why he would do such a thing.

Niobe
It was true, not many found her gift to be an acceptable thing, but she was finding a few here and there that found it the wonder she did. And that, alone kept her from feeling like an outcast, she enjoyed being different and didnt see it as a down fall.

Then again, she didn't truly care what others thought in the first place. A soquili on their own can be smart, and make a choice without much error, but you bring a group of them together and they turn into sheep following a single thought and leader, right or wrong..and thats what she found as stupid and why she really simply did not care.

She was smaller than most mares, and her life hadnt been a bed of roses, and she had an ability most didnt, but damn if it brought her down, no, she stood on it all and grinned at life each day, usually very happily too.

She froze slightly as she grew even closer to herself, she'd been out of the game for far to long, but this brought a quickening pace to her heart, she wasnt sure why but her cheeks flushed slightly. What had..just almost happened?!

"It is, I wish everyone could listen..I think others would see nature differently if they could hear its song."

Orion
Orion was thankful she didn't bring up his actions -mainly because he thought they would probably be viewed as inappropriate, and he had been avoiding others bar his family for so long that he didn't really know the boundaries. The fact was he knew he was loved, his mother and sister had showed him that over and over again. It was just the rest of the world that where harsh. No -maybe not everyone else in the world. He was starting to learn that, slow moment by slow moment. Yet he knew there was something missing.

Something his sister had found as a foal, or at least grown into with her childhood friend, something he was sure his mother had felt both times she had breed although she had never stayed with her partner. But poor niave Orion didn't know what he was looking for.

Forcing himself back to reality, dispite the difficulty, he spoke. "I have never heard nature sing. I like to talk to trees and the flowers, one day I hope they answer." He gave her a toothy grin, daring to raise his head so that he could see all of her again. Cute pink flush and all. He found comfort in the fact that she too felt, well something, even if she was just embarrassed for him.

Yes, Orion had a lot to learn. But before he could accept the views of others he knew he had to come to terms with himself first. The fact was he rather liked himself. His mother and sister cherished him, and out of the two of them Lior had inherited more of their fathers genes. At least Orion could hide himself and claim to be a dragonfly. But he would always resent his father and his kalona blood, being abandoned and then mocked and nearly killed could do that. But with each day came new realisations. And today.... well he was still thinking about that.
