He was to wait for the others on neutral grounds, so had been decided in his head after the news had been shared entirely. Yes, the reality had come to Pumpkin as sudden as a swift blow could, but in the end she accepted the things that were to be played out soon. Marley would not have found the patience to deal with her any other way and had been thankful for his female’s cooperation; after all, he wanted her to be a part of the plan just as much as he wanted his brother to be. There had been several hours separating the group, especially for Marley who relayed messages and updates as they surfaced to both of his friends. But the wait seemed to kill him the moment Dunn arrived, and so the time had finally come for the two wolves to finally face one another.
There did not seem to be any doubt on his black face, bright green eyes scanning the tree line with little to no blinks occurring. He didn’t want to miss a thing, good or bad, putting his neck on the line for each of his companions. Their agreement would finalize everything, despite how large a roll Marley believed he played. Without Dunn’s approval, Pumpkin would rally against any judgments made by the silver alpha and vice versa—he needed their support, the pack depended upon it.
He walked into a circular pasture, closed in by thick bushes and heavily leaved trees standing silently and incredibly still. A grin formed on his ebon lips, sharp white teeth spreading devilishly as he leaned back and into his seat.
Here they come...

Everything was running smoothly. His plan had gone ahead faster than he could have ever hoped. Marley bit into it with such enthusiasm that the dark male was sure that they could have their glorious pack in no time at all. There were just some finer details to attend to, and some various pack members to draft. He was sure that his brother could find the needed wolves, as he had lived in this area longer and so would most likely know the locals. Or, what if they weren't going for locals?
Pursing his lips, he stopped walking. He wondered if this female, the one that Marley wanted him to meet, was a local or someone he had met along the way. Perhaps he had gone traveling...
Dunn shook his head, figuring that it all would be explained in due time. He only had to meet Marley in the clearing that he had explained. continuing in his steps, his mind wandered along various trains of thought. Mostly, though, he thought about this female. He had joked with Marley, the first day of their reunion, asking if some female had led him astray. Was that indeed the case? He hoped, for his brother's sake, that this female was trustworthy. The dark male wouldn't tolerate any traitors in his midst, regardless of who they were affiliated with.
But, he supposed, if she was with Marley, then she must have some credibility. Shaking his head in an attempt to clear his mind, Dunn tried to focus himself. There was no point in wondering about this and that; he would have everything explained to him in the clearing.
"Brother!" he called, breaking through the bushes to his companion's left. "I'm right on time, I see." Or early. He couldn't see the female, and didn't detect her scent on the air. Grinning at Marley, he crossed the distance between them, ending up in a sitting posture only a foot away from the other male.
"What, no fish this time?" he joked, nipping at the other lightly.

Pumpkin watched quietly for a long moment, she had situated herself downwind. She hated males, she didn't trust them, but with Marley she had taken a chance. She had promised herself to help him, she had agreed to stand by him and accept him as an alpha. It was too early to tell yet if her choice had been a wise one, but she had come to slowly trust him, accept his word. Except he had wanted her to meet another male, and it renewed age old fears.
Yellow eyes roamed over the large dark form that entered the clearing and as she sized him up she knew she couldn't take him if it came down to it. She was pretty tough, but in an even match Dunn was probably tougher. She hated being a female sometimes, if only she were a little bigger like most males. Well, she would have to trust Marley, trust this new wolf too...if he proved worthy of trust. It was hard but she slipped into the clearing at last and sat beside Marley with a soft tip of her head.
"Sorry I'm late..." Which wasn't true, she hadn't been late, she just hadn't wanted to be seen first. Still she was sorry for not just trusting Marley and coming into the open first.

Marley was more then happy to see Dunn, a wide, bright smile spreading fast as he returned the n** and offered an extra head bump to the shoulder. "Not this time." His voice hiccupped with laughter, shoulders jostling from it as well, but dwelling beneath the grin was some disappointment.
It would have been easier for Pumpkin to have shown up on time. He would have reassured her, if she needed the reassurance. Having searched the horizon for that orange fur, he all but missed Dunn's fluffy white mane and fading pink scars and for a split second he even struggled to gain contentment over disappointment when the male entered the scene. Marley dropped his mild frustration for the sake of the meeting, but he hoped this wasn't a sign...he needed to know Pumpkin would be tolerant at the very least of Dunn's...misbehavior.
When she finally came through the thicket, he offered her the same sort of greeting as he had his brother. "Welcome Pumpkin." Extending his neck and nosing her side, giving a friendly nod in response to her own, the reality set in at long last. The two wolves were seated across from each other for the same reason, regardless of what filtered through their heads. The pack was the goal here, it was the most important part of this meeting and Marley would not let it be forgotten.
"Ahh, it feels good to be sitting in this position again, doesn't it Dunn." He said at first, brilliant eyes flicking between the two. He couldn't tell what was being felt in that moment, but he assumed there was some tension. "Let's get the formalities out of the way then. I am Marley." Tossing his tail about his thigh, he turned his head and bowed it slightly.
"Dunn, this is Pumpkin Pie; the female I have told you about and Pumpkin, this is Dunn...My brother."

Dunn's face slowly became serious and smooth, not revealing anything, as the female entered the clearing. He remained sitting beside Marley, not bothering to stand on all fours. It showed that he was confident in his own strength and cunning, though left out any conveyance of trust in this female. And, from the way she moved, it almost appeared as if she had been standing there the whole time, just waiting for the right opportunity. If that were so, she was already earning points in his book. Though she was being introduced through a mutual friend, she was still cautious. That sort of caution showed sharp survival instincts and intelligence. He knew Marley would never pick wrong.
Yellow eyes continued to scrutinize the female, trying to figure her out by just her looks. But he knew he couldn't do that; looks could be deceiving and this one seemed capable of such deception. Her face was a little strange, the dark markings playing tricks on his eyes. He supposed it was something that one merely had to get used to. Other than her face and neck, though, she seemed rather plain. Yet he didn't assume anything out of that. Dunn himself was without any intricate markings or patterns; he was just varying shades of black and white and that seemed to work well enough for him. Of course, his scars left something to be said about his lifestyle.
Watching the two interact, his brother and this female of his, he wondered at their true relationship. There was an obvious connection between the two, but it appeared as no more than friendship. They were rather cool to one another, not showing too much enthusiasm for the other's appearance. He wondered if that were merely a show.
As Marley spoke, Dunn's eyes never left the female. He was still scrutinizing. "Indeed, brother," he replied absentmindedly. When the other was introduced, he raised one brow at the female's name. It wasn't something you heard everyday. But he made no judgements.
He dipped his head politely, using more manners than he ever had before, his gaze finally breaking away from her. "It's a pleasure, Pumkpin Pie. Marley couldn't shut up about you since he decided to introduce us." He spared a grin for his brother, wondering what the female would think about that.

Feral eyes roamed over the figure before her, he was large, capable, she could see scars on him. A scarred wolf was one who had lived through the battle to tell his tale, she had to remember he was a survivor. She was survivor too, though her scars were internal ones, unknown ghosts haunted her past. Still she quickly surmised that these two brother in spirit each stood unique and alone. She idly wondered what had forged such a strong bond between them.
"Pumpkin, please. It's a pleasure to meet you as well Dunn, Marley has had so much to say about you too. He seems to hold you in high regard..." Now she would see for herself if this male was worth being held in anykind of regard at all.
She flicked a glanced at Marley, surprised mildly to hear that he had spoken of her frequently with Dunn. Why? She had promised to be at his back should he need her, and true they had cultivated an odd friendship. If she had been younger, foolish, if he had come along before she might have even fancied herself in love with the brute. Love however was now a dangerous tool she wanted no part in touching, lest it cut her.

He returned Pumpkin's gaze with a wavering smile, not bothering to deny the claim but only eluding to its validity. It was true, and although he remained a rather egotistical wolf, there would be no going around a topic such as Pumpkin…or Dunn, for that matter.
Both eyes twinkled beneath a shrouded sun, broken up only by wide leaves over head. While the two spoke, his only duty had been to sit back, watch...and luckily, things were running smoothly; awkward, but smoothly. Bobbing his head in a quick and forceful nod, so as to watch strands of black hair quiver, Marley split his lips and unhinged his gritting teeth to continue. "You both must think so highly of yourselves now, don't you?" A low, joking chortle erupted abruptly...and then faded into his follow-up sentence.
"I don't speak fondly of others often, as you both have come to realize over time. I suppose it would be fitting to feel good right about now...but anyways, we didn't come here to talk about that; not when there are plans to be made..."
Marley's head, neck, and shoulders moved as he stood, starting a slow pace to one side while both of his rounded ears became erect in thought. He kept his eyes to the ground, distant in his own mind, but the long and light-ended tail wagged dutifully and flipped somewhat over his rump tickling the scars beneath. Finally, he turned his head to Dunn.
"Let's get right to it then. I was thinking; knowing us, it will be hard to control a hoard of wolves side by side without bumping heads in the end. I'm not all too clear on what should be done, since two separate packs coinciding will indefinitely cause the same amount of drama and work...perhaps we should focus on our strengths? My intuition and your battle expertise…I--I don't know." It was one of the few times he would stammer, turning around and pacing to the opposite end of the opening.
He occasionally looked to the Pumpkin with eyes full of welcome, hoping she too would lay out her input if she felt inclined. Her word would be acknowledged just as Dunn’s would…

"Pumpkin, then," he grunted.
Dunn dipped his head slightly to the female, acknowledging her comment about how Marley held him in high regard. He knew that must be the case, as they had been brothers long before coming to these lands. They had a history and a past, and the bonds they forged couldn't easily be broken. Although he wondered what this female might do to the whole mix. It would certainly be interesting to watch it all play out...
His eyes finally strayed from the female as his brother began talking to them and bringing their attention to the whole reason for this meeting. It was partly to have meetings over and done, but it was mostly to have various plans sorted and organized out.
He watched as his friend and brother paced, most likely thinking of what to say and how to say it. When Marley stumbled over his words slightly, Dunn flicked an ear in curiosity, one brow raising slightly. He knew the rarity of such an occurance and so did not take it lightly. He flicked his gaze over to the female for half a second, judging her reaction. His eyes were back on Marley as quickly as they had left him.
"Why have two separate packs," he mused, "when we have always ruled together over one in the past?" He shook his head, disliking such a vast split in power between the two. One alpha was vulnerable, subject to overthrow. Not that he was particularly worried about that. He was simply practical, and knew this would be easier if they formed one pack. He wondered idly whether Pumpkin would stand as another alpha.
"This would work better if we stick to one pack. Though we are friends and brothers, if we were to hold separate packs we might find our pack members going for one another. No, it's best if we have them all united under us."
Golden eyes strayed back to Pumpkin, wondering what she thought and if she would have any suggestions. His mind was working on an idea, stirred by Marley's words about their different skills, but he wanted to know what the female would say first.
