 Symphony stretches her forewings and tucked them back in delicately, she ran her eyes along the blades on the grass.
With her neck lowered she nipped delicately at the grass barely eating it. Her ears twitches and faced every direction repositioning them selves every two seconds, she was listening out for other soquili that maybe dangerous, her farther had always told her to be extra careful.
She stood on the edge of the plains next the the forest's entrance,
it was getting hotter as summer creeped it's way back into this part of the world. The beads around her neck rattled slightly in the breeze, she flicked her hair out of the way and snuffled at the grass again.
Now al she could hear was faint whinnies and the breeze blowing into her ear, she didn't like the sensation much and shook her head frantically to try and get rid of the feeling.

 Xanthus glided through the air at a steady pace, dodging little white clouds as if on an obstacle course. He always liked flying, and sometimes dodged the clouds for fun. He had been soaring over the tops of trees along the forrest's edge, and was now over the open field of the meadow. Many times he had flew here, he would see other Soquili he knew, and some he had never met. He looked down to see if he recognized anyone, and though he didn't recognize anyone, he did see a beautiful purple angeni near the edge of the forest.
Xanthus just stared, starting to circle around, he couldn't keep his eyes off the mare. He made his way closer to the ground, and landed softly a few yards away from the unknown Soquili. Once he had landed, he folded his wings back, and shook his mane out of his eyes. He looked over toward the mare to see if he had caught her attention with his entrance, and smiling, started over to her.

Sy looked up and saw a black, white and gold Angeni with a bigger wing span, they seemed to be huge compared to her own slight wings, she felt puny. He circled in the air, she watched impressed with his flight, she found it to be her biggest joy. She smiled, and thought about how good it was to watch other enjoy themselves too, she didn't realise he was looking at her.
His soft landing impressed her, he made it look easy, it had taken her a while as a filly to get it right. She watched him walk towards her with a smile on his face half expecting him to completely ignore her and to just walk past, but he didn't.
She wondered what he wanted, to tell her to clear off? Possibly a chat? She'd only know when he approached although she couldn't really have a proper chat.

Realizing he was still staring, and maybe making the female uncomfortable, he blinked a few times, and diverted his eyes, still advancing towards her.
"Hello, beauty," he said, bowing his head a bit in respect to the female. "Good day to you. I saw you from above, and decided to land and say hello." He stopped with just a few feet between them, not wanting to get too close and scare her away.
"I don't believe we've met. I'm Xanthus. May I know your name?" he asked the mare, giving her a sweet smile.

Sy smiled at the Stallion invitingly but at the back of her mind she knew it'd be hit and miss, she'd seem rude for not replying or seem weird and looking like she's acting weird.
'He's talking to me?'
She mouthed 'hello' and waved with one of her wings, tucking it back in. She felt like shying away as usual, but she had no-one and no voice yo hide behind this time.
She bowed and nodded momentarily before trying to come up with a quick solution to answer his question.
She began to scratch at the ground with her hooves until at her feet was her name scrapped into the floor, it read,"lady symphony."
She hoped that he could read because most soquili couldn't.

At first he didn't understand why the mare hadn't spoken back to him, but then thought, "Maybe she's scared of me?"
He waved back to her with one of his wings, and then tucked them in to try and lessen the intimidation factor given off by the huge feathery expanse of them.
He noticed she was scratching something in the dirt, and went over to look. "It's alright, I won't hurt you." he said, with a calm voice. "I'm only trying to see what you're doing." He lowered his head down so he could see what she had scratched into the dirt. It appeared to be a bunch of runes. Xanthus had never learned how to read runes, and so didn't understand what it was she had drawn in the dirt.
He lifted his head, and tried to meet her eyes. "I'm sorry, but I cannot read what you've drawn here. I do want to assure you that I won't hurt you. You can speak in my presence." He smiled, encouragingly at her, and took a step back to help show he was not a threat.
((Xanth's intelligence is a little low right now, so I don't think he would be able to read, but could possibly learn if he found a teacher of sorts.))

((Only Akuba, Keii, Sy and Eddie can read out of my herd but the best teacher would be Eddie and Keii depending on weather you want a male or female teacher, they're mother and son so that's really cute hehe.
I don't think Akuba would want to know about Xanthus having anything to do with his daughter but being friends...he's really protective, but nice he just wants the best for her. x3
If you ever need communication assistance just give the heads up if your muse goes and I can momentarily call in one of my herd members. xD))
She wanted to tell him that she couldn't speak, when he said he wouldn't hurt her she gave off a silent giggle, you could only hear her breathing, she nodded enthusiastically to give the indication that she knew or understood.
When she saw him bend over to try and read what she had written she just saw how crazy she must really look to a stranger.
'As for now he can cal me what he wants.'
She looked kinda sad due to the miscommunication, she mouthed a sentence,"I can't speak...I'm a mute."
But then repeated it so he could catch it a second time.
She gave a weak smile.
'He's being pretty patient so far, not like others I've met in the past. Maybe I'd have to play charades with him. I'm so good at it.'
She joked to herself in her head.

Xanthus watched her intently, and saw her mouth some words to him. Then it hit him. "Could it be that she is unable to speak?" he thought, "That must be why she was trying to draw in the dirt, and hasn't spoken to me."
He approached her again, returning her smile. "I must apologize to you dear maiden, for I assumed you were afraid, when it appears to me now that I had misjudged you. Are you in fact unable to speak? Please do not feel embarassed if that is the case, for it is nothing to feel such emotion about."
Xanthus was intrigued by this mare. He felt that he at least needed to know her name, but how would he find out?
For now, he would simply call her Beauty, until he could learn her true name.
((I think I would like for him to learn to read. It would be a good character bonus for him, and he could meet her family/herd as well. ))

Sy looked at his concerned face and gave a him a happy smile shrugging it all off.
'It's alright.' She thought to herself as if trying to communicate. 'It happens alllllll the time.'
Sy had knowledge of her sister being nearby, probably the worst person to take him to with strangers as she gets excited but she was the only one around that she knew understood.
Sy didn't know weather the stallion was one that hatted being touched but she risked it by nudging him with one of her wings and gestured for him to follow her.--------------------------------------  Stripe looked at her sister from across the clearing,
it had appeared a stranger was with her and they were heading her way.
She watched bemused, most had thought her sister ignorant or rude.
"Who's this then Sy?" She smiled, "A new friend? Not often do you make many of those."
She looked at Xanthus,"Hi I'm stripe, Symphony's sister."
Sy huffed at her sister. 'Are you trying to tease me?'
She again readjusted her wings once again stretching and ruffling them, her smile returned when Stripe mentioned her name.

As the mare came near and nudged him forward, he took it as a hint she wanted him to go with her. "Perhaps she is taking me to someone to speak for her?" he thought.
As they made their way across the clearing, Xanthus noticed another mare, quite like Beauty in coloring. "I wonder....could this be her mother?" he thought. It must be. The resemblance is too much." Then he heard the new female speak.
"Sister? Oh, I see now... and her name...Symphony. Beautiful." he whispered aloud.
Xanthus stepped forward and bowed to the new mare. "I am Xanthus. Your sister and I just met." he smiled to Stripe. "I am please to make both your acquaintances." He looked to Symphony again, and saw the smile on her face. She seemed happy now that she was around her sister. He returned her smile. "Symphony. Was that what you were trying to draw in the dirt earlier?" he asked her.
