Okay, so hurricane season is coming up (or is already here...) and being in Louisiana, I have to care about that. Those things are nasty little buggers that pop up and spoil everyone's good time, and usually you have to leave your house if you live in an area where weather guys say it might destroy, or if it's anywhere close to somewhere it might destroy. And there's a lot of people leaving, a lot of people kind of stressed out. And there's looters back home, and plenty of good reasons to have a gun.

But none of this is anything you guys don't already know, I just felt the need for a preface. Suffice to say, I feel like I'd want to be directly armed if I have to evacuate this season, and concealed carry will be illegal for me or another year and month and five days, but open carry in LA is perfectly legal at age 18+. But I've got to say, I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea. It seems like a good idea and a bad idea at the same time. It's legal, yes, and with my standard wardrobe consisting of ties and dress shirts I definitely don't fit any cop's perceived criminal attire. I'd probably get hassled a bit, maybe, and I'd get funny looks from darn near everyone. Not to mention it would feel like I painted a bull's eye on my back to would-be criminals, telling them to take me first and have Marie as a prize (******** them!) but anyway, I'm rambling.

Regardless of if I do it (or even need to) or not, I do want to get a holster. And I've been looking at this one and this one.

The second one looks substantially more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, but I don't know. Do any of you have experience with these brands? Or know of any good holsters (left hand, PX4 Storm 9mm, visible, $50 or under) that you could recommend? Also what are your thoughts on open carry? Care to encourage/discourage me to it?

If memory serves, Fobus pretty much wrote the book on holsters. I'd go to a shop and try one out though. Even if it's not for your gun, you can still see how it feels. That's what I'm going to do. Probably going to end up with a shoulder holster of some kind. Blackhawk makes a holster or two in Px4, and their SERPA auto-lock keeps the gun from being easily stolen, while still allowing you to draw it quickly. Your index finger presses in on the unlock button when you grab the grip, which is pretty difficult to do if you're behind the person wearing the gun.

It's true I've heard of Fobus and not the other one, which is a testament to quality or advertising. The main thing I don't like about that Fobus is the opening for the attachment, which is nice except the only thing I could attach would be the pistol bayonet, and that would attract more attention than an M240 over my shoulder. lol

But I should be able to find a standard model one. I'd seen the commercials for SERPA holsters. Makes sense, being a natural position or the hand when drawing anyway. Seems like it would provide as much security as a thumb lock holster without having another thing to fiddle with.

Still interested in you guys' thoughts.

Also, it turns out there are no Blackhawk holsters for the Px4 that are left-handed. crying

Okay, because my brother is one of you damned southpaws, I have to find a couple holsters for my new Glock 19. The IWB shouldn't be too hard to find, but I'll have to try them on to see how they feel, because I'm such a bony b*****d that I print easily and a lot of holsters don't fit right. Anyway, I too am looking for an OWB holster for OC, range-carry, and the like. Preferably something pretty, but what I really want is a holster that allows my shirt to go down on that side, because BDUs and a tucked-in T-shirt looks retarded as all hell. Anyone have any suggestions for that?

If there really is nothing like that, I'm actually looking at a Blackhawk SERPA holster/light combo, because I've always wanted a holster that can hold onto a gun with a light attached to it.
