Who knows how to play ddr? Who likes ddr? How do you play ddr? I have lots of questions about ddr, because my friend has it, and he plays it, all the time, like more than he talks to me...And he tried to make me play when we went to the mall Sunday, but Ive never played before so I dont want to play with him, and like suck and make a fool out of myself, because like I like him and hed never let me live it down. So Im like buying one on ebay that I can plug into my tv in my room, and play late at night and get like really secretly good at it. But, I dont know how to play, and I never play any kind of video game, so I dont like have a ps2 or an xbox or nintendo or anything...So Im sort of impaired at this sort of thing. So if anyone has any suggestions, it would be great.

DDR rocks heart heart
There are alot of spin-offs of DDR (dance dance revolution) so make sure your getting the true version of it. Look at the manufactorer and make sure its made by Konami. Theres alot of once with 5+ steps, but DDR only has 4 (up, down, left, right) For the love of a non-Judieo-Christian god I cannot dance, so I have to stick with the controller and play on my brothers PS, or PS2. I haven't heard of a plug-in DDR thing, so it they have released it- its going to be for Japan. I believe Japan uses a PAL system, so it won't work with your tv unless its PAL compatible. Also when you play it, stick with 2 or 3 steps first. And if you are able to get the real DDR if you hit select or pause (not sure with what your getting) a list of options will pop up and put it on small or baby or something named like that, I haven't done that in a while so I forget what exactly its called. If you are able to get a playstation one, or playstation as there a whole lot cheaper, get DDR and DDR Konami remix (or its konamix, I'm too lazy to go and look at the box)
As for actually playing- The over's (left and right at the same time) might be a little tricky to get down but keep on practicing and the across's (up and down at the same time) will need the same amount of work. But working at lower step songs, you should gradually get it. Also if you don't play an instrument/sing/are able to pick up a beat, it might be ALOT harder. Be careful of staggard steps (I want to call them flams because I'm a drummer but thats not right) becasue the over and across's will look like over and across's but they won't be. That was kind of confusing, but when you see them you'll know what I mean. And don't get stressed over not getting A's on songs, you can only get A's by only getting perfects or greats, so the whole song you cannot miss a step. I've only gotten about 7 or 8 As myself, but thats after playing for a few years and on a controller, on a dance pad- I'd be getting D's and failing. I've only known one person to get AAA's (only perfects) and it was my brothers friend who grew up with DDR machines and owned at playing them.
And if you want to get into dancing/beat games, you might want to try Space Channel 5, or atleast tell your friend about it. Its really addictive, but the original Dreamcast version of it is like shell-shaded but its not I think the background doesn't move but the characters do? I haven't played more than 5 minutes of it becasue it hurts my eyes. But the PS2 spacechannle 5 game is really addictive becasue it has alot of things that are hidden that you have to unlock by getting 100% on levels.

I cant get a playstation one because I dont have playstation, or anything related to it. Because Im really not a videogame kind of person. And my dad informed me last night that no such games are allowed in our house, because I told him I wanted an xbox. And when he said that I was like That sucks, I just bought DDR on ebay. Lol. I'm pretty sure the one I got is Konami, it only has four steps on the board I know.
I think that if I had an xbox, I would be doing a lot worse in my classes, and I probably wouldnt be in drama. Because if I weren't in drama then Id have time to be at home and spend playing games. However, because I'm in drama, I dont get home until 7-10 each night. And then I just sort of collapse on my bed and read or sleep...

My dad doesn't like the fact that we play video games, but my brothers usually pay for half of the price. One of my brothers has ADD so it actually helps him if he plays video games. I don't play them that much other than DDR, and a few other games I can set down for a few months and be able to come back and play.
I my school had a marching band I would be in it. My friend whos in the marching band at the high school I would have gone to if I hadn't moved, said they've been marching from after school till 7/8 at nights most of the weeks. I wish I still lived in Florida, becasue I would have gotten into shape marching (drums and stuff really heavy) but now I'm just a lazy bum reading and playing on the internet

Oh...We live in like the middle of freaking no where, so when I was little I never really cared that we didn't have cable and that I didn't have video games, because me and all my friends up where I live just played outside and made up our own games. But, now that I'm like older, all of my friends at my school have like video games and ipods and everything, and so its like I dont know if Im really missing anything or not. Like, I'm so different from them that we don't even like the same music, and I never listen to the radio. And even though we have cable now, I dont watch it that often and if I do it's like reruns of M*A*S*H even though I have the first 9 seasons on dvd, lol...Anyway, I'm considering buying a ps2 on ebay right now...I'm not sure yet though.
I don't get home until 7 whether or not I have drama, because I take the bus to my grandmothers house, and then my dad gets out of work at 5 but he goes to his friends electronics shop to work on broken electronics, I'm guessing, and he spends a couple hours there, and then its a half an hour ride home. But, I dont mind that much, because I can sit on the computer, watch tv, and eat whatever I want, since my Grandma has roadrunner and nobodys there right now.

Reminds me of Alaska a bit, lol, but my dad was in the military so we used to move around alot so I never really had friends that lived near me that I could go outside and play with. Video games have actually become an addiction to my brothers. I just can't see how they can sit there all day, I have to get up and do something other than playing video games, even if its watching TV. I've gotten into music alot, so I usually listen to my cd player and stare at the TV, iPods and Mp3 players cost too much money. If you do buy a PS2 just make sure your not getting ripped off and memory cards for the PS2 are really expensive. 2 brand new memory cards can cost up to 40-50 dollars.
What's roadrunner?

My history teachers dad was in the military and she told us a story about when she lived in England, and how her like principles last name reminded her of something in history. We all just sort of stare at her when she tries to be funny, and then one of the two boys in the back like says it again, and then we all laugh...Yeah, ipods are expensive, since it was my sixteenth birthday this past year I got a lot of money so I used it to buy a 30gb video ipod, I have yet to put videos on it, but I have like 1300 songs on it. Apparently I need some kind of converter to put videos on it since I dont have an apple computer...I cant even sit on the computer all day, or sit through an entire movie Ive already seen a few times unless I'm depressed. I just sort of have to keep moving. I thought about the memory card thing, since one of the ps2's I bid on didnt come with one, so I did a search and found http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-PLAY-STATION-2-MEMORY-CARD_W0QQitemZ8249616863QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem on ebay for rather cheap as I expected. Memory cards are expensive for everything, the one for my digital camera was like 50 or 60 dollars. And the ps2 I bid on this morning comes with 11 games, so except for maybe two of them I thought Id just resell them on ebay if I actually win this one. Because two of them Ive played at my friends house and like.
Roadrunner is like a highspeed internet connection, it goes through the cable cable instead of like your phone line...I think. Anyway, it doesnt tie up the phone so I can just be on and off however and whenever I want. Expecially since no ones there to monitor my interneting while Im there...

I don't think I'd have enough songs to put on an iPod though, maybe about 500 songs. I'm just into a few certain bands and I could listen to them on end and not care. I can only watch movies I really like over and over, others wise seeing the movie about once every few months is okay. The only movie's I could actually watch alot would be Phantom of the Opera or Finding Nemo maybe. I took a look at the memory cards, and my brother bought the same ones about a year or so ago, and he payed about 45 dollars for it I think, so if you buy them for the price listed (19.99) and the 3 dollar shipping and handling it's an okay price. Used one's were going for 14 dollars at the mall when my brother last checked about november-ish. Memory sticks for PSP's though cost a s**t load of money, up into the hundreds and stuff. What sorts of games are coming with the PS2?
So its like DSL then? I think my friend might actually have that, because when I called him one day he was upset that he could be on the internet and talk to me because the cable company was messing with the line and fixing it becasue a tropical storm had come through. He lives on a golf course which floods really easily too

I havent won the bidding on a ps2 yet, so I have to wait until next weekend, when I have time again.
I guess its like dsl, I dont really know that much about anything technological.
Today, I stayed after for drama, and I was with my friend in my old English teachers room for two hours. He was showing her his project for their Odysseus unit, and he and some other kid each made computer games. And she used me as a guinea pig, and made me play them. She asked me which one I liked better, and I was like they were both boring...And I got hit for it later. Lol. They were boring though, and my friends made sense, but the other kids didnt. But, I didnt want to tell her that I liked my friends better, because I didnt want to show favortism, or have her think I was.

All I know is that DSL is faster and doesn't tie up the phone line.
I detest my english teacher, theres no way I would be in her room other than for class or to pick up some papers. But we're doing this Caesar thing in class right now, which I have no clue ties into Odysseus, other than we talked about it at the begging of the year.

Oh. I dont like my english teacher this year, either. But I like the one I had last year.
Yesterday I stayed afterschool for drama. And Rob missed his bus after he found out there wasnt any weightlifting. So we went to the gas station by our school and got cookies and pizza. And then I stashed our bags on the stage. And we ran across the parking lot, and to the far end of the football field where the baseball fields are to check out the new dug outs. And we raced to second base, and then went to home plate. It was funny...And then we walked down the road, because theyre tearing down trees by our school, and he wanted to like drive the bulldozer, so I had to talk him out of that. But we found this random light on the side of the road and picked it up, and brought it back with us. I showed it to everyone at drama. When we got back to school he told his friend he took it off one of the cars or something, so she hit and kicked him. And then we went and sat on the stairs right inside the stage door and talked until he had to leave, and then drama started.
And one of the girls on crew came over and was talking about who she liked without saying his name. So, obviously, Im going to inquire. And she wouldnt tell me, but the girl she was talking to said she had told someone that she didnt think he liked her, and someone told her that she should see how they act in chorus. And I knew of only two boys in chorus, and asked her about them, and she said no to both, so I went to ask my friend whos actually in chorus, and she told me the same two names. And then the other girl flipped out on my friend and made her cry, and she was crying. So I went with my friend to the bathroom and made her happy again. And then I found the highest place to climb up to on the stage and sat there and cried. And then my other friend came up and we worked on homework. Ive dubbed it my tower, so I can kick people out. Its hot.
I also made up with my other friend that I was mad at because hes an a**, and he apologized. So we're kewl now, which is good, because we interact during the play and it would be hard to lean on him when I really dont want to be near him.

My ddr finally came the other day. My mom played it, and she was really bad...And then she was watching me, and she was like how do you do that? I didnt miss that many! It was pretty funny.

So if anyone has any suggestions, it would be great. I was exactally the same way, (no video games for me, I'll just watch everyone else play..) until my uncle moved to Florida and I got his x-box, my christmas money, and moved the T.V. into my room. I purchased "DDR" the game I'd so often heard of and longed to master. I was at first discouraged by my lack of skills, but now on a light/standard level, and I've only been playing for a few months. whee
I have the cheap DDR with the flimsy little dance mat, that I prevent from slipping away with duct tape. You are probably past the point at which this could have helped you, but My advice is to master the positioning of your feet, and your technique for hitting each arrow. Give each arrow a designated foot to start off. Learn how to do the different jumps, and learn how to feel the rhythm of the song.
I hope that helped, though it probably didn't. sweatdrop

Thats what Ive been trying to do. After I realized that I didnt have to go back to the center after each step and just leave my foot on the last arrow its alot easier. Ive been slowly raising the difficulty as I play. The next time I go over to Robs house I guess Ill play with him and his stinkin' metal arcade style pad, the spoiled little brat... stare Lol.

Wait- he's got a metal arcade dance pad! Those cost up into the thousands of dollors. Lucky little s**t gonk I have two left feet so I can't dance to DDR I just use the controller.
My brother got the new DDR games for the X-Box and Playstation 2. I think they suck personally. The new songs are crap and I had the difficulty scale its really misleading. If you've played the original 2 DDR games you should know what I'm talking about (Dance Dance Revelution and Dance Dance Revelution Konami Remix). Even if the arcade systems in malls have the new grading system I still hate it.
I've figured out some of the grading scale and how to get AAA's A's B's and I think I know how you get a C too
