Description: Located in an open-roof stadium is the ring where the first round fights will be taking place. The sound of wild cheering from the many fans that have congregated here fill the arena in a loud uproar as cameras zoom in on the action to broadcast the fights all over the world. The floor of the arena is a glossy hard floor with the logo of GTB painted in purple and pink upon the white sheen.

Field Measurements: The fighting area is a perfect circle with a 50 yard diameter. The walls that keep the fighters away from the spectators are raised up to ten feet.

Ten Count Boundary: The ten count begins whenever the fighter is knocked out of the bounds of the fighting area, such as into the spectator seats. The flying count out is also in effect, which means, if you stay above ground by your own will for more than ten seconds, you will be DQ'd.

Fight Ends: After 11:59 PM on Jun 21st. That means when it becomes Jun 22th, fights are over.

Iopurl was waiting anxiously in the corridor that lead to the fighting arena. He knew on the other side of the ring, in some similar corridor, his opponent was waiting. As he stood outside the metal doors, he could hear the sound of the crowd erupting in applause as commentators began reading off information about each combatant. Iopurl had never liked big stadium events, but he supposed this was the way it had to be.

It didn't take very long before the doors opened, allowing light into the dimly lit corridor, and exposing Iopurl to the crowd outside. As Iopurl took his first step outside, he caught a camera in his field of vision turn to his face and concentrate on his movement. He tried his best to ignore it, and was glad his face didn't betray very much emotion.

As the camera captured details of Iopurl's visage, a few gasps and gapes could be heard from the crowd. Standing at 6'4" the manimal certainly was a sight to behold. He was covered from head to toe in fur, with a rather large mane over his shoulders and head, trailing down in the back. He wore a leather chestplate with leather greaves and leather bracers, with black cloth pants. There was nothing on his feet, nothing to hinder the sharp claws that tipped every toe. Likewise there were claws on his hands, add to that the sharp teeth in his wolf's head, and Iopurl was looking quite fearsome.

To each leg he had a blade strapped, and around his waist was a small belt with six throwing knives through it. As he stepped about a quarter way into the ring, the beast looked directly at the camera, and throwing back his head he let out a rather bestial howl that would echo over the crowd. With a slight grin of his chops, he turned to stare at his opponent.

Telamichious

PostPosted: Mon Jun 07, 2010 10:37 am

Telamichious thumbed the last page of the Iliad. Though Homer was not in his usual taste of literature, he had deemed it appropriate for this most... thrilling... occasion. Outside, thousands of waiting individuals lusted for blood. Telamichious had every intention of giving it to them. In the VIP box, benefactors and representatives of Gaiaaah (AKA Feel Good Incorporated) waited with bated breath for their champion to enter the arena. One verse from the epic poem he had been reading stood out in his mind:

'Paris contemplates the fickleness of victory as he prepares to go into combat.'

This was true. Telamichious could not help but wonder what would be in store for him should he arise victorious from this battle. There would always be another, until he, the stone Achilles, faced off against the equivalent of miserable Hector. The double doors began to open. A sliver of light bled in, stabbing into the vacant pits where Telamichious' empty eyesockets stared out into the world. The old wood creaked open with a certain measure of hesitance.

Telamichious was sitting in a wheelchair for the sake of transportation into the ring. He'd forgotten about Spencer from the ball; some insignificant line in the obituaries had mentioned a young bellhop dying from fright shortly before the Budokai began. Telamichious hoped that didn't count as murder. He smiled as he was wheeled out into the coliseum. Surprised shrieks spilled from the audience as they watched one of the fighters, seemingly crippled, approach. He didn't stand a chance! they cried, but they were all wrong...

'Among all the creatures that breathe on earth and crawl on it there is not anywhere a thing more dismal than man is.' Fact. Telamichious ignored their prying stares and angry frowns, instead focusing on his opponent. The creature was, like himself, a caricature of humanity: he was covered in fur and his head was crowned with the lion's mane. He stepped from his burdened perch in the wheelchair, cast his arms out beside him to embrace the peoples' mocking glares.

'There can be no covenants between men and lions,' thought the stone golem. This man before him was the sheep that came wrapped in lions' skins, and as surely as the sun would continue to burn, Telamichious would destroy him. He stood on the GTB logo painted on top of the white stadium. He did not speak. He did not move. He merely stood there, poised like a statue, waiting for his opponent to strike.

But then he did move. He lifted his arms with exaggerated slowness and brought them to stance; neutral, easy to bring either into an offensive or defensive maneuver. His footing was similar, allowing for a quick shift. And thus... the first round of the fourth Gaian Tenkaichi Budokai...

Iopurl could say he was more than curious as his opponent was wheeled into the arena. What was this, some sort of mockery? Was he playing a joke on the Beast-man? Whatever Telamichious had intended, it had only served to anger Iopurl, who thought it was simply a joke in poor taste, and at his expense no less.

A growl rolled deep in Iopurl's throat as he watched his opponent shed his wheelchair and stand. Definately a joke. While he should have been aware of all the people laughing at him, he was instead filled with a sudden burning rage. It wasn't even the first round, and yet this fool dared to mock him? Iopurl was going to enjoy taking this one apart.

"What's the matter, brickhead?

Couldn't face to walk into the arena yourself?

Pathethic."

Iopurl slowly advanced upon his opponent, who stood in the middle of the arena. Inhaling deep through his nostrils he intended to find out as much about the man as possible, he looked inorganic, but whether his body betrayed him otherwise would be up to Iopurl's nose to find out. The sensitive organ looked for any trace of smell that would give away Telamichious. Iopurl was definitely not looking forward to fighting a block of granite.

It wouldn't do to just rely on his nose though. As he'd begun walking he'd taken a throwing knife in each hand, and at around five meters from Telamichious, he would unleash each with tremendous speed. One was aimed at his torso, while the other aimed to strike his most forward leg. After throwing the blades Iopurl would keep advancing, ready to break into a run depending on his foe's reaction.

James 'Bear' was sort of confused.

First he was in.

Then he was out.

Now he was in again.

All he knew was the other ******** that was supposed to fight the wolf monster got dragged away by security or some s**t and taszed, likely yelling "Don't taze me bro!" or some such none sense, it didn't really matter.

All James knew was that his 5'6", 155 lbs frame was woefully inadequate against a giant fuzzy wolf monster. Adjusting the simple bracers on his arms he hopped from the stands into the arena proper, taking a few steps toward the center before stopping and bowing.

He then extended his hand toward his opponent mid bow.

"May our fight be a good one!"

He had to be polite, after all he was the poster boy of GRAPPLE Co, the fastest growing corporate machine on Gaia. If he came off too much like a tool or overly moronic he wouldn't be good for business.

Beyond that, who wanted to piss off a giant wolf monster; honestly?

Iopurl was rather pleased with his change in opponent, from giant rocky man to soft squishy Hume. It was something that he was more than willing to roll with, especially after he felt as though he'd been waiting so long for an opponent to appear.

The dog-man snarled viciously his flaps lifting up to reveal rows upon rows of razor sharp teeth. Even the night previous they'd made a fine job of nearly tearing the clavicle from a fighter in the bar. Iopurl intended to rip more than just a joint off here. He wanted to win, and he was willing to maul to get what he wanted.

Wasting no time he slid his two daggers from their sheaths, the blades pointing down towards the ground, in the opposite manner to the way one would hold a sword. He began to slowly edge towards his opponent, his feet shuffling him along at a reasonable pace, waiting until he was within striking distance of Bear.

James took an orthodox boxing stance, hands raised a little above his chin and elbows tight to his ribs, bracers out to protect himself from those nasty knives. James wore a simple rash guard, board type shorts and bracers; looking quite like the simple martial artist he was. As his large wolf opponent edged closer James shuffled left, turning the angle away from his opponent and attempting to circle away from his power.

A pretty simple tactic. As the range got closer he would throw out a half hearted low kick toward his opponents lead leg and then immediately back and circle out, irrelevant if it hit or not. James was hesitant to engage, to be put quite simply; he was terrified.

James had fought opponents with powers and such before, but never anything with bladed weapons and never a massive wolf creature. The knives made grappling far too dangerous, and getting into striking range to trade was purely suicide.

At this point James simply bet on his speed and ability to circle and throw leg kicks, hoping to take his lead leg out from him and then pick him apart when his movement was hampered. Either way, James had trouble hiding his fear; eyes wide and fear clear.

A wolf would smell it and the kill would come, but James wasn't going to go down without a fight!

Iopurl was much larger than James was, he stood nearly a foot taller than the human, and about seventy pounds heavier than him. His sharp knives glistened in the sunlight as he moved, and as James sent his kick at Iopurl, there wasn't much the Beast could do to block, and the low kick struck the front of Iopurl's forward leg's calf.

With a snarl Iopurl himself backed up for a second. He needed to strategize in this fight, to lose himself this early could be the end of the fight potentially. With a quick breath he composed himself again, and looked at his opponent again.

The two were roughly in the middle of the ring, meaning the little human could run anywhere, but Iopurl intended to corner him, so much as you could corner someone in a circular arena.

The beast turned to face James head on, his arms now extended out to his sides, leaving his chest a wide open target. He also crouched slightly, it would impede how fast he was able to move, but it'd allow him to counter another strike from James with a knife strike.

Moving straight at James at a fastened pace, he intended to push him backwards, unless the boxer wanted to risk rushing past the extended bladed arms of Iopurl.

James cut the left corner, shuffling left away from his opponent as he moved forward. Throwing his right back leg at the inside of his opponents lead leg he committed to this one, throwing it with all his power attempting to land shin to calf on the inside hard, and by moving away from his opponent to the left he cut the corner and avoided the large wolf charging straight at him.

After throwing the kick if it landed he would use his shin to 'follow through' on the leg and then once the momentum died push off with the shin and continue to circle, all in a matter of seconds. It it missed he would 'spin' with it using the momentum to turn his body and then instead of continuing left would switch and go right, but only of the kick missed. If it struck he would keep going left.

James knew he had to avoid those knives at all cost, as James was but a normal human. Any clean shot from those blades would end his life almost instantly, and any repeated strikes would mean he would never return home to mother; who was likely in the crowd herself. He only hoped he could chop down his opponents legs and finish him, otherwise it would be a long night for the human fighter.

"Bear! Bear! Bear! Bear!"

The crowd began to chant, for obviously James was the favorite. Being a small human from Durem and the poster boy for GRAPPLE brought huge fans, and after grappling to a draw with Athena at the expo his fan base had only increased.

The bear would always beat the wolf without his pack, and James hoped to prove that today.

Iopurl hadn't intended for Bear to fall into his trap quite so quickly, but it seemed that today the gods smiled upon him. He was glad that he prayed last night, remembering vividly the night he spend in the woods, in the heart of nature. The calm of battle sunk over him as he saw his moment of opportunity.

Iopurl saw Bear lift his rear leg and the sweeping motion coming at the inside of his own right leg. The hound's right arm swung around, and down, slamming with force into Bear's knee as it connected with the inside of Iopurl's thigh. The flashing steel found home in the Hume's joint with a sickening crunch as tendon, cartilage and bone tore and shifted.

The force of the blow caused Iopurl to drop down on his leading knee, the pain causing a swelling of emotion in his brain. His animal side began to uncontrollably take over, a loud growl and roar emerging from his throat, right at Bear. As his growl was released, a hush fell over the crowd.

It had taken them a while to gather that Bear had been injured, and quite badly by the looks of it. They're not cheering his name now, are they? Iopurl growled in his own mind.

The knife attack hadn't been enough to stop Bear's kick, but Iopurl was sure that it would be enough to stop any further attacks. He'd lost the dagger in the process too, but he doubted that Bear would be pulling that item out the joint, for fear it might cut and tear more than it already had.

Sadly, the big wolf was sorely mistaken.

James screamed in horror as the knife entered his leg, pouring blood all over and basically destroying the joint, pain flooded his head and made his vision blur for a brief moment; his eyes watered and he was on the verge of crying.

It ******** hurt.

But more importantly, it filled his body with adrenaline, and s**t tons of it. Pain dulled instantly, mind cleared and he was now more angry then in pain. That wouldn't last long, but for now he was high as a kite on his own bodies fantastic drug.

As his opponent fell to one knee James threw both his hands out, gripping the back of the beasts head and began the most devastating assault in the human arsenal. Placing his knifed leg on the ground he threw out his forward leg in a knee, straight to the beasts face, and he just kept at it.

Alternating knees he unloaded on the beasts head, attempting to put him away while he could still stand. It didn't matter the pain from stepping down on his leg, the drug of fear ended any thought of that. The Thai Clinch he held behind his opponents head also allowed him to pull the wolf into the strikes and control his upper body movement with leverage, rather then strength.

James had a perfect position to end this fight, and he just kept raining the knees. He wouldn't stop until his grip was broken or his pain stopped him from ********! YOU!"

James roared after each and every knee, his face red as a tomato. Fear, anger, the human drug, it was all infecting him. He was going to put this ******** wolf away or die trying, it was life or death now.

Snick.

That would be similar to the sound Bear's knee tendons made as they were sliced by the dagger inside of his knee. As he clinched his opponent, and shifted his weight onto the knifed knee, he would find that if the knife hadn't already severed many of the vital tendons that make a knee able to bear weight and pressure, it would as the muscles in that leg tensed in preparation to bear Bear's weight.

The result? As Bear lifted his knee to strike Iopurl, he would find himself falling forwards in a mangled sort of lunge motion. His flying knee would fall short, and at most strike Iopurl in the upper abdomen, at a weakened strength at that, because his strike would have recieved incredibly little push from the load-bearing knee, most of the power only coming from his hip muscles' ability to swing the knee forward.

A startled Iopurl would be looking face to face with Bear as he fell forward, still clinching him, arms around Iopurl like some sort of romantic embrace. Iopurl would cut that short in seconds.

His left hand still had a dagger in it's clutch. As soon as he realized where they were he plunged his dagger into Bear's unprotected side, slicing through muscle, kidney, intestine, blood vessels, and more.

James felt his knee give, of course it gave. Would that stop his assault?

Not quite.

He did in fact fall, but James real strength came into play now. Letting go of the thai clinch as he fell he turned his grip to around his opponents body, a body lock. His opponent was so intent on stabbing him he would never be able to stop James weight falling onto him, but he didn't just do that. He swept his good leg behind his opponents lead leg and swept out with the fall, clearing his opponents leg.

A body lock trip takedown. It wasn't great, but his opponent likely wouldn't be able to defend it on the attack. The knife wouldn't be able to strike due to the change angle, and James would likely land with his bad leg in between his opponents leg and his good leg on the outside near his hip.

James kept tight, taking his hand which was the same one that the opponents knife hand was on and gripped at his opponents forearm, using simple wrist control to keep him from attacking with that knife.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 13, 2010 12:43 am

Iopurl hadn't intended to strike out with his knife until James had dropped to the ground, once they were eye to eye. The only thing that changed was James threw his body into a body lock takedown as his right knee buckled. As his good leg swept out Iopurl's front leg, his own back leg swung out forward, so it wouldn't be caught behind him in the fall.

James' attack would work as he planned, his grip tightening around the hound's torso as his torso was wrapped around Iopurl's right side. Iopurl would manage to lift his arm out the way of James' sweeping arms, avoiding getting that pinned down by James.

Iopurl's back leg would also swing out and in front of him, to avoid getting it pinned behind him in the incoming body lock. As the two hit the ground with a thud, Iopurl raised his also unimpeded left arm and, luckily because his dagger was held upside down anyway, struck along the back of James' right arm, cutting through the powerful muscle, down to the bone.
