The cheetah, lithe but toned from his days as a traveller, sat slumped across the flat of a rock that overhung the waterfall, sunning his white-spotted pelt beneath the rays of the pleasant morning sunshine.
Yet, despite the warmth and the sound of the running water as it rushed over the edge and tumbled down to the pool of flowing water below, he didn't seem completely relaxed.
He seemed... agitated. The tip of his tail thrashed from side to side in the typical feline sign that something was up and the muscles at his shoulders were bunched as if preparing to pounce into the froth of the current and let himself be carried away. But really, Pekee wasn't one to 'relax'. He'd spent his days wandering, alone and somewhat depressed throughout his youth. Even now as an adult, resigned to the fact that he had wasted his childhood chasing stupid questions that he could never find the answers to, he was still not perfectly content.
But, he was more content than he had been and that was saying a lot for the serious male who had finally found himself a purpose in these lands.
To be a member of a coalition such as this.
But perhaps his irritation and frustration came from the mere fact that - despite being in a social environment - he had no idea how to even make friends after spending such a long time alone and miserable.

Was that all old people did? Nag, nag, nag, nag, nag!
Makail had spent the better part of the morning trying for the hundredth time to convince the older ladies of the pride that, no, he did not need to be 'hurrying up' and 'finding a suitable mate.' They all seemed eager for him to produce his future replacement. Maybe it gave them some hope that things would go back to the way they were when his father was around... Pft, all those hags would be long gone by then, so what would it matter? 'For the good of the world!' they would say. Well, luckily there were plenty of others in the pride who thought the same way he did. Maybe that's just the difference between the old generation and the one Makail was from...
In his wandering Makail happened upon Pekee. The cheetah seldom seemed relaxed, and Makail wondered why. Did the old ladies nag him to insanity too about something or another? Pft, Makail wouldn't doubt it. Many of the older pride members were skeptical of the capabilities of Cheetahs, Leopards, and hybrids alike to properly judge, and here Makail had gone and appointed one of each for judge. He wondered why they thought that way, when they had always lived amongst them, and the pride protected them as equal as any lion brought to trial. Okay, maybe those old coots Makail had just booted from judge rank hadn't but...
Oyi- he was thinking too much.
Makail stopped beside the lightly colored cheetah and took a seat. "Quite a day,..."

He heard the sound of heavy paws approaching and new it to be a lion before he even heard and recognised the voice. He turned his delicate-featured face as the other came and sat beside him and noted with some surprise that it was none other than Makail.
Had he come to...relax, too.
Pah, relax. That was a joke! Even still, at least it was relatively quiet here and a conversation with the young lion at his side would not be unwelcome. In fact, quite the opposite! Pekee had a lot of respect for Makail and was eternally thankful for allowing him to be a part of this coalition. For giving him a purpose.
The world-weary cheetah gave his companion a wry smile and nodded very slightly.
"What a day indeed." He retorted after a moment. "Tell me then, Makail - my friend - what is on your mind? Can this cheetah be of any assistance? Might as well make himself useful to you, after all."
He was very much in Makail's debt for everything that he had done.
