Personality: Just try to call him Toby or Matt. Just try. Matthias is a coveted scientist, who doesn't know or talk about anything but work. He's spent almost his entire life in a depressed slump until recently, when he found a dog on his bed. This seems to be the only animal he's not allergic to, but as he spends more time with Selenium, his allergic reactions to other dogs (and his dark moods) are slowly wearing away. Huh.
Life: Born to a wealthy family as Matthias Tobias Silver II, Matthias is actually a zoologist, not a chemist. He loves animals, but he's allergic to every single one he's ever met. Even fish. Despite this, he continues to work with animals on a day to day basis, braving hives, sneezing, rashes, and one seizure when he was in his twenties that resulted in a scar on his left temple and a mild concussion.
