"A village? So you deliver to the humans?" he asked.
Zaine had never had interaction with the humans personally, but had heard many stories about them. Most of those stories were from other Soquili who had either escaped or had been let free and most of the stories were not good. He'd heard that the humans used the Soquili to pull heavy objects behind them, or they would sit on their backs and make the Soquili take them places. There was one story he'd heard that a mare had had foals, and the foals were taken from her not long after they'd been placed in their baskets, never to see them again. She'd told him about it, with tears streaming down her face. He remembered that mare, how sad she was. He wondered for a moment how she was now.
His thoughts came back to the present. "I've heard many stories about the human villages, and none of them were very good. I wouldn't want anything to do with them."
Zaine kept pace with the stallion, his eyes focused on the path ahead, but he could catch glimpses out of his side vision of Azguard running steady beside him. "Say, guy. You're pretty fast. Do you ever race?" he asked, gearing himself up. He hoped the guy wouldn't mind a bit of friendly competition, as it had been a while since he had had any. The last time he'd challenged someone to a race, he had lost, so he was ready for a rematch. He was ready to reclaim his status as fastest stallion around.
