User Image"Yes, bring them this way! No, no, there's no more room there. Hold on, one moment, I shall see!" These statements were only some of the frequently said things to come out of Cornelius' mouth. To put it simply, things were a bit hectic in Archesis. Ever since Learania departed to engage the enemy, citizens from other parts of the country had entered the capital, fleeing for their lives. Wounded entered in clusters, and space was quickly being filled up. Archesis had many resources, which was good, but the city was close to reaching its limit.

"You there!" Cornelius called out, to one of the soldiers who had been relaying messages to him. "Has there been any word from any of the forces sent out, yet?" The soldier shook his head in disappointment and informed Cornelius that they had not. The general growled lowly to himself, in frustration. "Cyric... what is happening out there...? Blast!" Cornelius looked over to Isadora, who seemed just as busy as he was. Why wouldn't she be? Right now, she was the head commander of everything that involved Learania. Truly, she was quite tenacious to be carrying on. "Lady Isadora, if you need a rest, feel free to take it. I know your knowledge of things in this city is limited, and thus your ability to answer certain questions is hindered."

Some soldiers passed by and Cornelius directed them to where he needed them, as he listened to any response the Dame Knight gave. Before he could continue to speak with her, a sudden rush of citizens came barreling though. by the looks of them, some had traveled far, and others looked like farmers. After they had scattered to where soldiers had led them, a different soldier ran up to the general and informed him that several groups were on their way to the capital and one had already arrived. "What?! They're all returning? This is...." Before he could finish, he saw a holy pegasus knight quickly descending near to where he was. As she got closer, the general recognized her as Caterina, the Holy Guard's commander. He looked over to Isadora. "...I have a bad feeling about this."

"We need more blankets and aids," Isadora cried out to one of the Estarcian soldiers as she tended the wounded citizen with Vulnerary. Ever since they came to give aid to Estarcia, the Dame Knight had never expected the capital as a refuge center. Somehow, she thanked Saint Elimine that the king had not refuse his citizen's plea. These people were losing their homes to an unknown force. However, with more people coming to the capital, she feared that they may not had enough aids and supplies to help them.

After she finished tending the victim's wound, she looked around. People were gathered in clusters. They were some who were wounded and some who bear grim looks. There were even some children crying, wailing about leaving their homes. The paladin bit her lower lips lightly as her heart weighted with sadness and empathy.

So far, she hadn't heard any news from the forces they had sent out. Had they found out who was the unknown enemy yet? Or were they losing a battle?

When she was tending the citizens, Isadora had asked questions of what had happened. From what she had gathered from the citizens, they only informed her that they were being attacked and needed help. No news of what happening to their forces. No new information about the unknown enemy's identity. Not even hearing any news of their forces coming back. She prayed that they were all right.

As the Dame Knight was about to go aid another citizen, she heard Cornelius, telling her to rest if needed. Isadora held her hand up while shaking her head.

"Thank you for your concern, but however, the citizens' welfare is our top priority. We have to give our aid as much as we can. And even though you're right that I have some limited knowledge about this city, I have to give my all to help them."

Although the paladin was concern about the Estarcia's resource if the situation had become worse, she refused to give out easily to help those in need. The Learanian was sent here to give aid. It would be a slap in a face if they were to do nothing. And even if she was becoming tired, Isadora refused to fail. She did not want to see people suffered, ready to give up hope. These people needed to have faith that the war would end soon... She hoped.

Before she could hear what Cornelius was about to say, a group of citizens came rushing passed them. The paladin tried to make room as much as possible to give the weary travelers some space to move. However, it was nearly impossible if the place was overcrowded with people. Just then, she saw a soldier came up to the General and informed him about the forces' return.

They're back? Isadora wondered. She was relieved to hear that they had come back. Thanked Saint Elimine that they were not eliminated like the previous battles that had happened. But what had happened in the battle? Did they win or not? Had they found out about the enemy's identity?

A shadow had loomed over the Dame Knight, causing her to look up. From what she had seen, it was a Falcoknight. If she remembered well from her previous visit, she was with the Estarcian priestess as a bodygaurd. Had something happened to the prietess?

Suddenly, Isadora heard Cornelius' comment. The Dame Knight pouted her lips from what she had heard.

"Don't assume bad results until we hear it out. We can't give up hope too easily."

As much as she didn't want to believe it, she couldn't help feeling doubted about the news. It was not easy trying to help out the country with limited knowledge. But having small knowledge was better than having no knowledge at all. The paladin hoped that someone from the force may had a shred of good news that would help turn the tide around.

As long as I live. . . .

I shall protect the ones I love.

~Caterina~

------

Caterina, followed by Annalie and Cassie, two of the Holy Order Peg Knights who had volunteered to come with her, flew over the capital city of Archesis, relieved to finally be back in what she considered home. Tired and hungry, worn not just from the flight but from the battle earlier, the knights could not wait to land and find food as well as rest. But Rina had another mission to complete first, the reason she had escaped the temple prisons to return here.

Gazing down at the city, Rina noticed that the streets seemed rather fuller than usual, not that she'd ever left the palace walls often. Soldiers were everywhere, directing people to go this way and that. Many of the people wore bandages, or were carried on litters. Obviously, the war was not going well, and people were fleeing to the safest place they knew to go--Archesis. Rina frowned, worried for the people whose lives had been torn asunder, simply because their enemy had yet to be defeated. Rina silently promised herself that she would do whatever she could to protect them; no more lives would be lost if she could help it.

Circling back around, Rina finally spotted one of the two people she was looking for, General Cornelius. She motioned to Annalie and Cassie, directing them to follow her down. Adara swooped low, coming into land before the frazzled-looking knight. Somehow, he didn't look pleased to see her, perhaps rightfully so, considering the news she bore.

Dismounting, she bowed her head to the general, the other two Peg Knights copying her, though they remained silent. "Sir Cornelius, I am afraid I come bearing grave news," she began slowly, trying to get the words out and ignore her still present headache. "Our temple was attacked by enemy forces. We could not stop them. They--I'm sorry to say, but they've taken my Lady Priestess hostage. I believe the point of the attack was to take her, though I am not sure why."

She stared at the ground, still berating herself for failing to do her duty. But she had to get past that; there were still things to do. She lifted her head, glancing briefly at the woman who stood nearby; she appeared to be a knight of some sort, but Rina couldn't remember seeing her before. Then again, Rina wasn't exactly thinking entirely clearly at the moment. The Falcon Knight turned her attention back to Cornelius, waiting for the general's response.

I've been lost in loneliness, of these nights deeper than darkness

I want someone to notice now...
Because I want to get out of here

-Cyric-

Nothing else could possibly have the Captain in such deep thoughts as he completly ignored the arrow head that still remained in his left shoulder as well as the fact that Artemis had passed out and was leaning against him. But that last battle had him thinking, about the situation this entire fiasco had become. Estarcia wasn't wrong in defending their country...and Cyric can't exactly blame the enemy for thinking they were some vile creatures that wanted to rule every being that ever walked on this land.

"Captain!"

Cyric snapped out of his thoughts and looked over at Tanya. She was worried, was the injury getting the better of him? Had he lost too much blood? Granted the bleeding had stopped but that didn't hide the fact that his left arm was covered in his own blood. "I'm all right, Tanya.....How far are we from the capital?" The silver knight asked, looking behind him every now and then to check the others.

They had successfully met up with Alihi and Abel..as well as the citizens and so far none of them were harmed. That was a good sign, however a majority of them were already tired. He couldn't help but listen to the soft murmurs of worry among the crowd. It was natural after all..being driven out of their own town. He turned back to Tanya, waiting for a response. Just as the sage was about to speak up, there was a sudden 'oof' and then a loud cry. Cyric turned his head to see a little girl that had tripped and scraped her knee, started crying where she sat while her mother tried to comfort her.

The captain stopped his horse and handed Tanya the reigns after dismounting. "C-Captain?" she called, watching the commander slowly make his way to the little girl. He turned his back to her and held his arm out, gesturing her to climb on his back so he can piggy back her back to the capital.

The girl stared for a moment, then shook her head frantically. The captain was hurt! Such an action from her would be innappropriate! "I-I'm okay! Cyrie-nii is still wounded!" she stammered.

"This wound is nothing compared to the horror everyone went through..its all right." She stared for another moment and quietly climbed behind the captain with a little help from her mother. As soon as Cyric stood up, he heard a small 'thank you' and continue'd walking. "We'll keep moving. I know everyone here is tired, but please, bear with us." They needed rest and quite possibly some food. The quicker they move, the better.

Who knows how long time passed when they actually made it to the capital. Soldiers gathered to help the citizens, one even took the little girl Cyric had on him.

"Sir! Are there any casualties?"

"Just one" the captain pointed out. "Artemis, make sure he gets treated quickly"

"But..." the soldier hesitated, looking at his commanding officer and the dried blood on his arm. "What about yourself?"

Cyric blinked and turned his head downwards toward his arm. He grasped the broken shoulder guard with his right hand and shook his head. "I'll be all right. I need to inform Cornelius about this myself..Take care of the others first. Alihi and Abel..I'm sure they're just as tired"

Before the soldier could say anymore, Cyric pushed his way past the crowd, leaving the rest in the hands of the soldiers there.

He found Cornelius with Isadora just on the outskirts of the gate. They seemed tired....this place was getting hectic and not in a good way. "Cornelius" Cyric called, approaching the general. Cyric stopped mid-way once he realized a pegasi was there. He froze, knowing full well who that pegasi belonged to. Which can only mean Caterina..had returned as well.

User ImageCornelius knew that Isadora was correct. Unfortunately, this time it did them no good. As Catarina delivered the news of their holy Priestess being captured, his face grew a little pale and his eyes widened. "No.... Th-this cannot be..." He shook his head and spoke silently. "They couldn't possibly..." Cornelius looked at the ground, acting oddly. His reaction was justified, but perhaps a little too dramatic. It was as if he knew something that others did not.

The General tried to collect his thoughts, but was interrupted by a sudden calling out to him. The familiar voice snapped him out of his thoughts, and directed his attention toward where the voice came from. "Cyric! Although it may not be good that you have returned, it is good that you are here now. Quickly, to the conference room. We have a dire situation." The general then led he and the others inside the castle and up to the conference room. He and the others were probably needed, but other officers would have to handle things, for now.

It seemed that the paladin had eaten her own words when she heard Caterina's news. The Estarcian Priestess was being captured and it was unknown why they had taken her hostage. How dastardly these villains were. It was bad enough that these villains had invaded Estarcia, but to take the Priestess? To what were they trying to accomplish?

Before Isadora could speak further of what happened in the temple, she heard Cornelius spoke up in disbelief. The paladin turned to look at the General. Maybe he was mortified of what happened and he felt guilty of what happened. She couldn't blame him for feeling that. She too had felt that before during her previous battle.

But when she had a full look at the General, it surprised her. Cornelius did have a look of distraught, but there was another emotion too. Something that the paladin couldn't figure out what. Was it something that the General knew? Maybe there was something that he had forgotten to mention in their previous meeting.

The Dame Knight was about to ask the General when she heard another voice. She turned around to see Cyric coming toward them. Isadora let out a little gasp as she saw dried blood coming from his shoulder. It seemed that the Captain of the Guard had injured himself from the battle. However, she was thankful that he was alive. It would be sad to lose a fellow knight who cared about his country's need.

"Sir Cyric, I'm glad you're back." The paladin let out a small smile. She then turned her smile into a small frown. "But you should have had a healer check your wound first. We don't want to lose you if there's an infection."

Whatever Cyric was about to say, she didn't hear it when Cornelius spoke out. The General announced of having another conference room due to dire situation. Was this something involved with the Priestess? If it was, then she would really need to know what was going on. If they had something important they wanted to discuss, then they should have done so in the first place. It would have ended the war much quickly.

Isadora began to followed the others to the conference room. She also noticed that Alihi was with them too along with Abel. Where did that Hero come from? She did not know. She didn't remember him coming along with them to Estarcia before. Speaking of others, she began to wonder how were the others doing. She prayed that those who were still out in the battlefields were okay, especially to a certain person she cared deeply.

Cornelius seemed . . . less than pleased at her news. And yet he sounded . . . almost crushed? No, that wasn't exactly the right word, but the general took the news rather hard, odd for him. She opened her mouth to say something more--

"Cornelius!" someone called.

She gasped and froze.

"Cyric!"

Slowly she turned to face the paladin captain who had just arrived, just staring at him for a moment. He look like he'd been fighting, and as exhausted as she, if not more so. Adara took a step sideways, nudging the captain; the pegasus was happy to see him.

"Cy . . . Cyric?" Rina said slowly, not daring to believe that this was more than a dream. "Is it--" She stopped herself before she asked the stupid question. Of course it was him, it had to be.

"Cyric!" she cried, launching herself at him and throwing her arms around him, completely forgetting herself. "You--you're alive, I can't believe it! You're here!" She sobbed uncontrollably for a moment before she remembered herself. "I--I'm sorry," she said, pulled herself away and holding him at arms length. "I--I j-just--I'm so glad you're okay!"

And then she saw his shoulder.

"Cyric, what . . . what happened to you? You're--you're bleeding!" She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

But then Cornelius was leading them inside, and they had to follow or else be left behind. Whether she was needed or not, Rina stayed with Cyric, clutching the hand of his uninjured arm in hers. Annalie and Cassie stayed behind, taking their mounts and Adara to the stables to rest, as well as to rest themselves.

"I'm sorry," she told Cyric softly as they made their way up to the palace. "I know I'm probably over-reacting, but I was so worried about you! Ever though I've no right to be. Forgive me." She made to let go of his hand, realizing that she probably had no right to hold it either.

I've been lost in loneliness, of these nights deeper than darkness

I want someone to notice now...

-Cyric-

The silver knight simply stood where he was. AT the very moment, he didn't know how to react. The only thing he was able to do for the time being was step closer to the small group who had noticed him when he had called out to Cornelius. He could see the worry and concern in both Cornelius and Isadora's face. At the same time, they seemed very relieved to find that the Captain was still alive.

"Cyric!"

Then there was the voice he knew all too well. Calling to him in a matter of relief, as if the gods and goddess of Estarcia had answered her prayers. Cyric gazed at the falcon knight approaching him quickly. He was just as happy to see that Caterina was not harmed at all. Small arms wrapped around his neck and the Estarcia captain could only return the hug. He held her close for a moment, arms around her waist and squeezed her a little. "Rina..." He murmured softly, holding the priestess guardian as she quietly sobbed against his shoulder. "I didn't mean to make you worry....what of yourself?"

Before he could get an answer, it seemed Rina had beat him to the punch about injury. He had nearly forgotten about the arrow wound on his shoulder because clearly, Cyric probably stopped feeling the pain hours ago. He watched the Falcon Knight suddenly start freaking out and started to hush her, calming her down before she started to panic even more then she was already. The captain would have to be sure to get it checked later, but for now, Cornelius deserved to know the situation on what was going on. Honestly, this was the first time Cyric had Cornelius in a very frantic matter. One would normally see him as the most calm and collected soldier among Estarcia. Today was special, Cyric thought. Not that it was the time to be joking of course.

Of course, that was when the meeting in the conference room was called. Must make haste, the sands of time was against them this time.

"I'm sorry"

Cyric turned his head, looking down at the Falcon Knight clinging to his right arm as they walked slowly behind the Dame Paladin and the King's bodyguard.

"I know I'm probably over-reacting, but I was so worried about you! Ever though I've no right to be. Forgive me."

His arm was then released and somehow, out of reflex, Cyric took her hand once more and held it up to his lips. He kissed the palm of her hand and simply smiled. "Its all right...I would not be honest if I did not say I was not worried about you as well. You have nothing to apologize about, Rina" and he meant that. Cyric wasn't one to show emotions often, but when it came to the Falcon Knight, he was open..and only to her. He looked up, realizing they were falling behind a little. "Come, they will leave us if we dawdle too much" still holding her left hand as he moved quickly into the room.

The paths through the forests were long and winding, but everyone made it through unscathed. With their arrival came the assurance of the citizen's safety, at least for now. Their best chance for surviving was at the capital.

Deborah walked with Needles down the main streets, as the other soldiers and guild members followed. The Kaftian was unsettled by the amount of calamity within the city walls, but wasn't very surprised by it. It was natural that some amount of craziness was taking place. The thing that Deborah didn't like was the extreme level of it. She didn't like being around huge amounts of people anyway, but she wasn't really focusing on that. With so much going on, it could mean that maybe the other groups didn't have such great success. She already knew that Alihi had to pull out of Altiplos, though she did get the citizenry that dwell there out. Deborah had a feeling that the war was not in their favor.

"Is like deh whole blasted country is fleein' here..." she said, as she continued on. "Dey scared. I can see it in dere eyes." Deborah paused as she saw the old man who had given her the ring she now wore hug a small boy, like it was his grandson. Up ahead, the woman and child that she had helped escape from the villages clutched each other in joy. Deborah made no reaction and kept going. Sentimental moments were not her thing. Eventually, they made it to the front of the castle, and saw Estarcian soldiers rushing about. They seemed shorthanded, somehow, at least at the moment. The only person Deborah could see in charge was some low ranked officer, not a real commander. She found this strange, since Alihi and that Estarcian commander called Cyric were confirmed to be ahead of them. They had to have arrived by now. Deborah figured they must be doing something more important, perhaps reporting on how their battles went. She turned around and faced the Learanian soldiers. "Alright, go help out wit whatevah needs tah be done." As the soldiers groaned a little while they dispersed, Deborah turned to Needles. "Guess we bettah go report in. If dat terror of deh sky and her wyvern are back, I know she won't be wantin' tah wait for us..."

And thus, Deborah and Needles arrived at Archesis. They asked an Estarcian officer where the other commanders were, and made their way to the conference room. Apparently, they had just gotten there, themselves, and had not gone over anything yet. The two of them quietly took a seat closer to Isadora. The halberdier looked around at who was there, and raised an eyebrow. The thing that caught Deborah off guard was that she had come back before Vaida. At least Deborah knew that she wouldn't be punished for tardiness.

As long as I live. . . .

I shall protect the ones I love.

~Caterina~

------

Caterina was both elated and absolutely miserable. She had much to be thankful for: she was home (or at least back in the capital); she was, for the most part, uninjured (save for the knot on her head from where she'd slammed into the stone floor); she wasn't being attacked by unknown forces; and the person she cared for most in the entire world was holding her hand.

. . . Did that last thought really cross her mind? Perhaps she'd hit her head harder than she'd originally thought.

However, Rina had much to cause her grief. Besides the bits of her past she tried so hard to forget, the kingdom was practically at war, official declaration or no; things were bad and getting worse, if people were fleeing to the capital, even farmers; she had failed in her sworn duty to protect the High Priestess; she had fallen in combat due to a stupid, stupid rookie mistake; she and her troops had been captured, only herself and the two others barely managing to escape; and Cyric, the captain himself, was injured. And here he was, comforting her, worrying about her, telling her not to apologize, and gently holding her hand, even kissing it, smiling at her (the dearest sight in the world), despite the fact the he was the one seriously injured, the two knights just walking down the street like lovers on a stroll.

. . . Yes, I definitely hit my head harder that I thought.

Nonetheless, Rina held Cyric's hand as they made their way through the crowded streets, into the palace, and then inside the meeting room. She kept her eyes on the ground for the most part, although she repeatedly glanced up at Cyric, not wanting to take her eyes off of him, but not wanting to be so rude as to stare.

I don't deserve him, she thought miserably to herself as they walked onward. He's the nicest, kindest person I've ever met, and all I do, all I ever do, is cause him trouble. He deserves better than the failure of a Falcon Knight that I am. But without him--

She stopped that train of thought; it was too painful. If she clutched his hand just a little bit tighter in hers, she didn't notice.

Cyric led the way into the conference room, Rina seating herself next to the captain, releasing his hand before anyone else could notice or comment. Gazing around at the others who had come, she saw many faces she didn't recognize; perhaps these people were the Learanians she'd heard vague rumors about who had come to help the Estaricians, or at least their leaders if there were more of them. Shoving the less-than-pleasant thoughts out of her mind, Rina turned her attention once more to Cornelius, waiting for the general to begin the meeting once everyone was settled.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Specks in the distance came closer until the sight of wyverns was clearly noticeable. The cluster came closer and closer until the very flaps of the wings could be heard. Vaida and her wyvern brigade landed in an open area inside of Archesis- well, if it wasn't open before, the people underneath the descending wyverns definitely got out of the way. Before landing, Vaida had commanded Mihira to check on the cavalry and the Estarcian survivors. It really was a pain to have to wait for troops that could not fly, sometimes; not that they could help that Estarcia was about seventy ******** percent forest. At least Learania's fliers could get a head start on being healed up to be ready to go back out into battle, when the time came. Another loss was unacceptable.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Not long after the wyvern brigade had dismounted and began heading to the clinics, Mihira's small white wyvern landed by Commander Vaida. "Commander!" the scout cried as she awkwardly dismounted and scurried over to Vaida. "The cavalry are not very far behind. They should be here, soon. Apparently the locals knew faster routes through the forests than the ones we took to get to Restia." She twiddled her fingers a little. "...The Estarcian commander that was rescued seems badly hurt, but I think he's still alive. We should probably inform whoever is in charge here that he'll need immediate healing..."

Vaida sighed at the reminder of her loss, but for once kept in her anger. "You get on that, then. Once you've told whoever needs to be told, go back and lead whoever is carrying the guy over to wherever he needs to go." Vaida patted Umbriel's side and the beast moved her head over and nudged her rider's arm. She also let out a soft screech-like noise. "You just take it easy for a while, Umbriel. Go rest by the stables near the castle barracks." Vaida gave a firmer pat to Umbriel side and the beast took the signal to go. The Guard Commander then turned to her subordinate again. "I'll be at the castle getting in touch with Co... Cor- Whatever his name is. Once you're able, go get fixed up, yourself." The scout resounded with a squeaky "Yes, ma'am!" and got back on her mount. Vaida watched the girl leave and began walking toward the castle.

And yeah, she got there. I don't feel like giving detail. It's kind of common sense, so deal with it. As she entered the conference room, she glanced at who all was there and scoffed. She was actually the last one to get back. A slightly humiliating situation, but if anybody brought it up she would be sure to shove it up their a**. As the wyvern lord sat down, she noticed that everyone was quiet. "Well don't let me stop you from talking! Come on, let's get on with it."

User Image The general quietly entered into the conference room before everyone else did. His pace had been fast and eager. It was only natural that the others did not understand the urgency, but it did not help. He had managed to get a free healer to come to patch up Cyric, so his injury would no longer be a concern. A servant of the castle passed by and Cornelius asked him to go bring some tea. He needed something to help calm his nerves. As Lady Isadora, Cyric and Caterina entered and took their seats, Cornelius sat down as well. "I've requested some tea, along with a healer to come and take care of you, Cyric. We will begin once it is only us."

The servant came back with some tea that had already been prepared (It's a common thing to continuously prepare that beverage for nobles and high ranking officials, in Estarcia) and set it down before the general. Cornelius took the cup that the servant poured for him and it shook in his hands. The healer then came in and began to use his staff to heal Cyric's wound. Not long after that, the door opened again and in came a blonde woman with a dark-skinned woman. Cornelius had never met these two, but knew that they were Learanian captains. It was good that they had managed to make it in time.

Eventually, the healer finished, bowed and left the room to attend to the many others who needed healing. Cornelius took one sip, then finally began. "Something terrible has happened... It seems that-" The door suddenly opened again and in came Learania's Guard Commander. The general sighed when he saw her, but it was of relief. Now that she was here, he determined that just about everybody that needed to be there was there, and no other armies were traveling toward Archesis. This time he could really begin. "Indeed, we cannot afford to sit around and do nothing, right now. Allow me to begin. First off, as has been reported by Caterina, our High Priestess, Lady Gwyneira, has been captured by the enemy. This is a horrible travesty in and of itself. However... I fear that it is much worse than just that. Allow me to explain..."

"As you know, our country houses an ancient relic that we call the Fire Emblem. This relic has been housed in our head temple since not long after our country's formation. It was given to us by the deities that be. This was a little before the time of the legendary heroes. During this time, Learania's stability was shaky at best. They had lost their king, their queen, and had no heir to continue the line. Nobles bickered with one another and fought over control. It was because of this that Estarcia was chosen to house the Fire Emblem, instead. It is said that the deities prophesied that 'the hope in Learania has not yet come to be'. But this relic is not just a simple keepsake, no, certainly not. It contains vast power that ordinarily, only the deities themselves can freely control. ...Even the dark god could, while he still plagued the world. But a seal was placed on the relic by the gods, blocking them from using the relic, thus keeping the relic from being used for evil. The ability to use the power was passed on to the Head Priestess of the time, who passed it on to the next Head Priestess, and then the next, and the next, all through the years up to this very day, with our Lady Gwyneira. She, and only she, has the power to either remove the seal or use the relic's power, if it should be needed. I confess myself at a loss as to what exactly the power of the Fire Emblem can do, for I have never seen it used. However, it is said that it contains the power to control time and space itself..."

Cornelius looked down at his tea, and spoke grimly. "This capture of the priestess sounds as if it was a planned target. If this is the case..." The general looked up at the others. "Then I fear that our enemy is after the Fire Emblem. And even more... they may somehow know that they need Lady Gwyneira to use it."

So something did rather Cornelius as Isadora followed him. She noticed that he was walking a bit faster than he normally walked before. The news must be really important and urgent to rattle his nerve. Along their way, they made a short stop to the healer to tend Cyric's wound and a servant to bring in some tea. Although it was nearly tea time for the Estarcians, the paladin had a feeling that Cornelius needed the tea more than just a pasttime habit.

As they entered the room and took their seating, the General informed. Isadora nodded as the servant came back with the tea tray. When the servant poured the tea into the paladin's cup, the Dame Knight looked over at Cornelius. Goodness! The General's hands were shaking hard, it looked like he was unable to hold his tea properly.

Before Isadora could speak up, she heard a door opened to reveal a healer. She had to admit the Estarcian's servants were quite dedicated to their jobs, answering the call and tending their duties as fast as possible. Not long after, she heard another door opened and saw Deborah and Needle entered. Seeing that there were no wounds on the Learanian captains, the paladin let out a relief sigh. It was good to see that they weren't injured in the battle. Otherwise, Vaida would need to find new replacements if they failed. Speaking of Vaida, where could she be?

Just then, the paladin heard Cornelius speaking. So they were finally going to hear this urgent news that the General had feared. Something that she and the Learanian leaders had not heard. What could-

Door suddenly flew opened again and revealed Vaida as she entered the room. It didn't surprised the paladin that Vaida was uninjured. After all, she had seen many battles Vaida had displayed, both in Elibe and Learania. When she heard Vaida telling Cornelius to speak, the paladin turned her attention to him. Now that they were all here, it was time to hear what the General had to say.

Isadora was both astound and surprised as she listened to Cornelius' story. Besides hearing the news that the Head Priestess was captured, she was surprised that Estarcia had the Fire Emblem. A Fire Emblem? ... In this continent? Never would she expect that there would be a Fire Emblem in this continent. She knew very well that Bern had the Imperial Seal as the Fire Emblem in her homeworld. And she had heard from others that there were Fire Emblems in their homeworlds too. Who would have thought that there was a Fire Emblem in this land. Was this why everyone from different worlds had come to this land? Because they were somehow connected by Fire Emblem? Perhaps she should discussed more about the Fire Emblem with Cornelius and the others once this war was over. Not to mention, informing Rath and the crew about this too. Who knew what other significance did this Fire Emblem had besides from what Cornelius had informed?

"I have to agee with you, Cornelius." Isadora spoke once the General finished his story. "It does sound like this war had been planned out. I don't know how the enemy knew about this Fire Emblem of yours, but I cannot deny about the capture of the High Priestess. This is no mere coincidence. No enemy would not dare capture someone unless there is an important role of that person."

She then turned to the General with concern, yet determination in her eyes. "Cornelius, if the enemy is after the Fire Emblem and your head temple is in this city, then we need to make a full battle preparation. Now that we know what their motive is, we need to be prepared as fast as possible. We also need to evacuate your citizens to safe locations if Archesis is to become their next battleground."

The paladin then turned to Alihi. "Alihi, we need your tactic plan of how to defeat our enemy. In addition, we also need your help of rescuing the High Priestess too. I don't think our enemy will harm her in any way if this enemy needs her power to use the Fire Emblem. However, I fear that our enemy will use some tactic to threaten her life as a leverage to force us to hand the Fire Emblem."

User Image The general looked over at Isadora, when she responded. He nodded as she spoke, relieved that she seemed to understand. And it was just like her to be concerned with the citizens, right off. But there was a problem with her proposal. "Unfortunately, Lady Isadora, I do not think there is a safe place for them to go..."

Cornelius set his cup of tea aside. He then set his elbows on the table and raised his hands under his chin. There was a map open in front of them, and the general gave a good look-over. "Citizens from all over have come here because the enemy had already gone to where they were. The farmbelt, Respia, now the lakeside villages and even Altiplos... The way south-east into Learania is blocked by the mountains and south-west leads to the desert, where I dare not send anybody. Plus, there is no way of knowing if we are being surrounded as we speak..." Cornelius sighed. "I believe their best chance is to stay here behind city walls, where we may be able to hold them off. This is our last line of defense. And though I know all of Estarcia will do their part in fighting off these intruders from our capital's doorstep..." The general looked over to Alihi. "The advice of a renowned tactician would be well accepted."

Cyric Adair

I've been lost in loneliness, of these nights deeper than darkness

I want someone to notice now...
Because I want to get out of here

-Cyric-

Once he had settled down, it seemed the rest of the people needed slowly started to show up. At least they would not have to repeat themselves. Cornelius informed the captain that a healer and tea were being brought here. Not that he was in the mood for tea at the moment...but at least a healer was going to treat this absurd wound of his. Before the healer had a chance to use her staff, he informed her of...well.....a small object that broke when he tried to take out the arrow. She nodded and took careful action not to open the small punctured wound any further then it already was. Cyric of course, hissed at the pain when she tore it out of his flesh but thank goodness she was quick about it. Once that mess was done and over with, he was fully healed with the mend staff. Checking his arm, Cyric nodded and dismissed the healer. If the arrow had been even a slight inch over to the left, it might have hit a vein. Thankfully he managed to dodge that without permanently damaging himself. That would have been bad.

Cyric observed Cornelius once the tea was given out. He was more nervous then everybody in this room combined. The captain's own tea however, left untouched. Even when the two other ladies from earlier entered the room.

The talk had officially begun. Cyric listened carefully to each and every word that was spoken. So they were after the priestess huh? The Fire Emblem? What use could they possibly need that for?

"The leaders of this country are foul, and malicious. The General wishes for us to liberate the people."

Something clicked in the back of the Captain's mind. Liberate? That...sniper...she mentioned something of foul use of tactics back in Fort Vajeh...Were they truly after their land? Who leaked out information? Ezekiel (As big of a scum as that man was) would slither away with some lie. Cyric spoke up.

"..No....I don't think they had any idea what was going on.." the captain begain, resting his right elbow on the table with his hand on his chin. He paused, remaining quiet once more before his voice broke the silence once more. "Estarcia no longer remains safe as long as our enemy is still out there. I agree with Cornelius that right now, this area is the safest out there. We don't know exactly when they'll strike again..but Lady Gwyneira is in their hands.....Miss Alihi" Cyric as well, turned to Learanian's tactician. Hoping they would get something to help them out of this mess.

The silver knight looked over at Caterina. This talk about the priestess seemed to be making her uncomfortable. Her hands were shaking, much like Cornelius's were earlier. He slowly moved his hand and placed it over hers. Even if he didn't say anything, Rina knew exactly what he was going to say.
