Unenlagia paced with the restlessness of a confined cat. He was filled with energy but it was impotent energy. His human companion Yazhi hadn't come to him in days now. He longed to see her again and to feel her soft touch on his neck. He thought of the smile she had on her face as she would climb onto his back and his pacing took another sharp turn. He was frustrated and bored and the boredom had no end in sight.

He stopped his pacing for a moment to glare upwards to the treetops and the birds flapping through the warm air. On days like this part of him just hated that the rest of the world could carry on so cheerfully while he was trapped in his boredom.

Blake trotted along the winding forest path the bells at the edge of her matching blanket/scarf jangling in a pleasant way with each step. In a way that sort of made you think of a court jester being summoned to the kings throne room.
the day was hot and eventually she found her way toward a small steam. Giving her short gold-ish colored mane a toss she lowered her head to drink some cool clear steam water. Patches of sunlight that filtered down through the trees reflected off of the water and danced across her short sage green coat. She looked well traveled but far from worn out and a certain twinkle in her eyes showed that she was just waiting for the next adventure . . .or joke which ever came first.
It was in her nature to wonder and to wander far and wide. Without a care or worry she was far too used to nothing but an empty trail. Poet and her were almost to much the same connected but far too independent to be around one another for to long. There companionship was almost too distant seeming for others. . . .then when was the last time they cared about the thoughts of others?
Finishing her drink she lifted her head smelling a fellow Soq nearby.

The sound of jingling alerted Lagia to another soquili's presence. That's stupid of them to wear something that jingles like that, he thought to himself while he made his way over to investigate. If I was hunting them right now I'd have such an easy time tracking them down while they jingled like that. He smirked at the thought. It was too bad that Yazhi wasn't around today. Apparently some very easy sport was wandering about in the woods.

Lagia emerged behind the drinking mare and eyed her speculatively. Only a regular soquili, but she did have some interesting markings. He remained silent and watched her. He wondered how long it would take her to notice his presence.

Idly she nibbled a tender blade of grass or two from the stream side.
its smells musty must be a male . . . she she thought lowering her head once more fro another bite of grass. From the corner of her eyes she caught his refection behind her in the waters surface.
Admittedly it made her a little miffed that it had taken her a moment or two to realize he was there. As this was far from her first rodeo so to speak. It didn't seem he wanted an altercation which suited her just fine. She was defiantly more a talker than a fighter. Even if he had it wasn't in her nature to panic she was as the water was . . . cool.
For some moments she continued to seem oblivious to his presence. Then spoke nonchalantly with all the confidence in the world.
"its impolite to stare." she looked back across her shoulder with a smirk one eye covered by bangs the other half closed in an almost sleepy fashion. One never would have suspected a devious jester lurking right below the surface from this laid back looking mare.
He certainly had an interesting color pattern royal purple mane and stripes with sandy olive tones.

Lagia let out a low laugh and emerged from his hiding place. The mare was more perceptive than he had guessed initially! He eyed her over more directly in the open. She was wearing human-made cloth but it was unlikely she had much association with humans. Most soquili in the wild had never had much in the way of human interactions.

"Why hello there, little green mare," he drawled with a bemused smirk. Something in his stance and the way he looked at her suggested predatory intent even though he was obviously just a regular soquili. "Are you new to this area? I don't think I've seen you around."

His manner made her skin prickle slightly his laugh gave her slight chill beneath her blanket scarf.
well you wanted an adventure didn't you? she reminded herself as she turned to face him more directly.
"Well hello to you as well large olive Stallion." she replied with a slight bow of her head in formal greeting. As a nomad she knew it was favorable to show respect when passing through another's territory.
"I'm not so much new as just passing through. Normally i cross a little further up the stream more to to the north but today i decided to take the road less traveled. see the sighs smell the smells that kind of thing." she added " My name is Blake by the way."

"Blake? Nice to meet you." Lagia intentionally didn't offer his own name in return. He wasn't accustomed to giving out his names to strangers wandering around on his turf. He smirked a little more and began pacing a little as he walked her. The way he prowled back and forth was more akin to the movement of a large hunting cat than a horse. His slit-pupiled yellow eyes peeking out from behind purple mane only heightened this effect.

"So you're traveling alone, then?" He asked with a mock casualness. "No friends? No family in the area? Must be lonely." He hadn't been looking for new prey today but couldn't help but scope out a potential target now that he had found one.

must be one of those new breeds I was told about poet said there were a few milling about. she thought noteing his preditory manner with a bit more severity than before. At his question The thought occured to lie to him. To say that she was indeed going to meet someone not far off or that the she was just slightly ahead of the heard or even her mate.( Neither of wich she actually had.)  but that would be something he would expect. So seeing as how he wasent hideing his intentions she felt she wouldent hide hers either.
"I do have "family" but there always back the way I came. I prefer to travel alone. Makes things so much easier." she said casting her gaze to the canopy of leaves above them for a moment idly then back to him.
" not everyone needs someone. " she added.

"Course not," Lagia agreed. He smiled at her but there was something off in his smile. There was something... not quite friendly. "I don't need anyone either. Not any soquili, at least." He thought of his beautiful human rider. With Yazhi there to guide him he never would need anyone else.

"Don't you worry, though?" he asked with mock casualness. "What about kalonas and skinwalkers? You'd be a tasty little bite to one of them."

She studied his manner and tone, Drawing asumptions that could make or break her thread of survival. He was indeed a preditor that was apprent but as far as she could gather. . . he did not lack the abilty to appriciate someone who could ocupy his mind. Give him a challange so to speak. Then it's not hard to recognize a quality ones self holds. So she chose her words carefully, and spoke with Her ushual cashual tone.
"oh undoubtedly. I would most certainly would be and yes I do worry about it. I would be a fool not too." she replied " I fear and am aware of the possibily of being stuck by lightning too. However it dosent mean I won't gallop through the rain just to feel it splater against my coat. Bravery is not the absence of fear but rather the will to live despite it." she finished with an honest almost smug smile.
Was it wrong that she felt an odd atraction to his manner? The thrill of balanceing on a razor combined with his voice. Wich was like a warning bell and a silk cloth all at once. She wondered.

Lagia snorted with derision. He'd met mares with her attitude before. He'd not only met them, he'd seen them die at arrow-point. They always thought they were so brave to walk on the wild side. They always thought that just because they knew they were in danger it meant that the danger couldn't strike them. They all had the same insufferable illusions of invincibility. Lagia hated encountering that... but he loved to see their illusions shatter.

"Well doesn't that make you a little warrior." He gave an amused flick of his tail. "Does that mean that along with running in storms you'll run into a kalona's den to show you're brave? Are you going to run directly into danger just to prove that you can. That's stupid." He chuckled to himself at his mockery of her, an unpleasant glint in his eye.

He was mocking her. . .she felt her blood begin to boil. Her fuse was undenyably short esspecily when it came to her inteligence levels. however it apperaed he wanted to make her angry this was a game to him . . .a game she would not play. Calming herself for a moment She then spoke slowly and clearly as if
explaing to a child. If he wanted too asume so much of her she would asume so much of him. After all it was only fair.
" First off I fully agree that would indeed be very stupid. the odds of getting struck by lightening are nearly 1 in a 1000 the odds of surviveing a kalona attack are 1 in 3. Even less so if I were to actully intruede on one inner sanctum. Thusly the two situations are entirely incompareable for the obvious resons I just listed and then some.
Secondly I never said I did anything to prove anything to anyone besides does it look like I have anyone to prove anything too?"
she gestured about wondering if he would catch the underlieing insult of him not being worth provein anything to though she both
doubted he would and hoped he would not. He may have been quick to judge but she bet his fangs were faster than that.
"
