It was some place that she generally didn't go to often. The crowds, the heat, the people...well, the people could technically be a part of the crowd, but in her mind they were two separate and very different things. Crowds didn't try to rob you, People did. Crowds were just uncomfortable. But she felt she had to, as another test to get herself out of her shell. She had spent far too long in her shop or at home! With Tek sitting on her hip, the blue haired woman wandered the dreaded and frightening Marketplace.
It was...actually going pretty well! By the time she was comfortable with the Crowds and the People, Tek had a new toy to sink his fangs into, and luckily the toy was resilient enough to withstand the young boy's gnawing as well as his sharp tongue. It also kept him quiet, which was always a good thing in Switch's opinion! Aside from the toy, she had a few other things she had picked up; some curious looking journals, some strange knickknacks, and of course some snacks for the two teenage boys and her mate back home. Soon enough she felt that she had her fill of the Marketplace and just wanted to go home...but when she turned to face the way she had came, she didn't notice the stranger coming towards her until she collided with him. In her efforts to protect Tek from getting hurt, the bag holding her purchases fell, spilling only an item or two onto the ground.
"Aww, crap! I'm sor--" Switch hissed out, peeking her eyes open to see that the stranger had left. She was still standing and Tek seemed alright, but her other shoulder sure did hurt! The person she bumped into must have had some spikes to him. "Are you okay, buddy?" The green eyed woman asked the toddler, whose red eyes were wide with surprise from the sudden jostling, the strange toy hanging from his mouth still.
Okay? He was fine. She was just a clumsy idiot. His ears flattened against his head and his wide eyes narrowed again, growling low. Stupid woman, not paying attention to where she was going! She could get seriously hurt if she kept that up!
"Aww, you're alright. Okay, lets find that bag..."

Redheaded, covered in freckles, and much too dirty for a boy his age, Flynn shoved his way through the crowds of the busy market. He'd lost his little charge in the ruckus, somewhere, and while one would think it hard to lose a gigantic snail-- It escaped his thought process on how that went down.
He spotted her some distance away, near a little opening with a kid and a person and she had bent down to pick something up. Flynn sighed, raised his voice.
" 'Ey, Oozie, what'choo got there?" The snail jerked, blinked at her guardian for a slow foolish moment. She didn't answer him, a fact that only sped up his pace.
Ooze watched the items fall when Bug ran past the woman. Her flatmate never kept watch and when Packrat had yelled for her, Bug went running, and slammed into several people. One of the odd womans things rolled towards the snail and Ooze plucked it up from the dusty ground.
Flynn called for her, Ooze looked up, and she made her way to Switch. "Miss?" Said the young thing, Switch's possesion clutched tight in her hands. "Miss! Ma'am! I have your - uhm." Ooze held it up, lipless mouth pulled into a smile. "Your thing."

Switch blinked, looking around for whoever it was that seemed to be calling for a 'Miss' or 'Ma'am'. Eventually she looked down and spotted...a giant snail?! A shiver ran up her spine and she clutched the grumpy baby closer to her on instinct; snails were gross enough tiny, but this thing was huge! Child sized! Oh, but the giant snail was trying to return something...and despite being gross, it seemed pretty sweet. Swallowing hard to try and fight back her repulsion, She nodded slowly and held out a hand for the thing. She didn't know what it was, either...it was kind of like a puzzle box, but it really wasn't. It was a weird thing, which was why she bought it in the first place.
Ugh, that smile was creepy.
"Um...T-thank you." Switch said, trying to keep herself in check; this was probably only a child, after all! This particular item was the only one that she hadn't picked up herself, so it was good to have it back. "That was...very kind of you. What's your name?"
Tek remained remarkably silent, staring down at the giant snail, his wolf ears flattened against his raven black hair. He didn't even know where to start on it, what to even think about it. So, by default, he just started to growl low...it did make Switch feel uncomfortable.

Fortunately for Switch, Ooze had grown up used to the generalized opinion on her appearance: gross, slimy, unclean, overall undesirable. She remembered landing as an infant in Gaia, how the adults left her in the pod once they opened it up and saw her until Flynn took pity on the bundle of upset snail-child, half curled in her own body. So when Switch swallowed and schooled her expression, Ooze found no real insult in the reaction - the woman tried! It was all she could ask for.
"Ooze," the snail smiled brightly, showing off smaller than normal teeth but, hey, at least she had them! "What's yours!"
"Oi - Oozie, baby," Flynn managed to catch his little charge then, the teen touching his 'daughters' shoulders. "Don't be messin' with the lady, Oozie."
"Am not! Being nice." Ooze grumped, eyes and feelers aiming themselves back at Switch. The female was an interesting one, although her child was mildly ugly. Ooze wanted to eat it and all of it's fuzzy-furry-feathery bits. "This is Daddy Flynn, he found me in the spaceship."

Ooze. Of course the snail's name was Ooze. It had to be. Chuckling once, Switch moved Tek to her left hip to bravely hold out her right hand to the little snail. It repulsed her, but it was still just a child. "My name is Switch, and this is Tek." She said, nodding her head towards the intensely staring tot on her hip before the newcomer's sudden arrival startled her.
"Er...yeah. Ooze is being very nice, ss....he? Returned something I dropped." The human put in her defense of the admittedly sweet snail. "It's nice to meet you Flynn, I'm Switch and this is Tek." She repeated, tilting her head. "Spaceship? I found Tek in something like that! Are you from another planet, Ooze?" Though she didn't quite believe it, her experience on Gaia told her it was more than possible...but it wasn't until she had met Hoss did she realize that Tek was probably a horrible criminal from another planet.

"I like the name Switch. You sound like our kids! We have Bug, Flynn, Packrat, and Cricket. And Ooze. I'm there too," Another smile before Ooze let herself be distracted by the infant. The frown melted into something of confusion; the anger and age in the pretty-and-ugly things eyes far surpassed what someone that young should be.
Flynn let Ooze stare at the boy, didn't bother to try and drag her attention away. The girl was horribly stuck on things when she wanted to be, a stubborn thing indeed. When Switch asked her questions, the redhead was the one who answered, voice light.
"Oozie's here 'cause she gave away some secret. Sent her here as a criminal - stupid, just lookit her. She's not a criminal," his eyes rolled enthusiastically, thumbs hooked into the loose hems of his pants. "But she's here! Found her in a big round thing, space-ship I guess since she says she's from out in space. There was a picture, she used to look real different."
Flynn grinned, shrugging again. "You gotta alien too?"

Her name...sounded like a street urchin's? Tilting her head, she thought about it for a moment. Okay, yeah, Switch definitely wasn't an average name. "Ha...I suppose it does! You all have very interesting names, I imagine they're all very fitting." Though...Ooze didn't really look slimey enough to be considered oozing, but it still made sense to call the little snail that. Ugh, snails. When prompted again, the blue haired woman looked back at the creepy little girl...and she frankly had to agree.
"Yeah...she certainly doesn't look like one. If that picture was what Tek used to look like, he didn't look like one either. He's a rotten little thing though...so I suppose I could see it with him. I don't know what he did, though." That part was still a great mystery to her! The papers didn't really explain it to her, so she'd have to find a way to ask Tek once he was old enough to talk. "But yep, he's an alien. His pod-thing nearly crashed into my shop." Pouting, she shifted the child on her hip, and after a bit of grumbling over being moved, he went back to staring at the snail, clinging possessively to his Guardian and lightly growling down at the ugly girl.
"Hrm...you know, we were just about to go home for lunch. Did you and your...kids...want to join us?" She didn't really want that many people in her house; it wasn't that she didn't trust them (Ooze had proven that they couldn't be all that bad!), it was just...she didn't like crowds. But the offer was still a sincere one, she actually liked cooking for people.
