They were born as twins, ryuku being the older of the two. There' parent's died at a young age and left Shika and Ryuku alone in the streets. One night shika was targeted by a vampire and attacked, ryuku tried anything to save his brother, but was unable to. Ever since he became a vampire he promised to protect him.
