PTR-91 Inc., developers of the PTR-91 (American ripoff of the G3), claimed they released the PTR-44, a repro StG-44 late last year, but still offer no MSRP. It looks to be a faithful repro, even down to the 8x33mm ammo. Available in both light and dark woods, for you fans of WW2 relics.

While I understand it's a replica, I still wonder why they chambered it in 8x33. Isn't that s**t impossible to find?

7.92 x 33 short may not be on every store shelf, but I doubt the gun maker would risk building a new weapon without some sources for ammo. There must be a few hundred examples of this rifle remaining in service or in private collections.

The Russians are really good about hoarding military stocks, even as far back as WWII. I'm sure they gathered up any remaining inventories they could as the Germans folded camp.

And given the vast number of re-enactment groups around the world, I would not be the least bit surprised if someone was cranking out thousands of new rounds 'necked down from a current case.

Prvi Partizan produces new non-corrosive 7.92x33mm Kurz rounds.
Found 20 round boxes for around $10~11 with a quick Google search.

You wouldn't expect it to be too expensive. Its an odd ball round. I mean you would expect it to be hard to find no doubt but yah.

I saw a pistol version (pistol size, semi-auto, civ legal) copy of an MP-5K that I want badly in a gun maagzine. Unfortunately... $1550 MSRP for basically an awesome-looking 9mm pistol.

It's got a 30 round mag. Of course it's illegal in Cali.

Typical.

Not that I could afford one nor keep it in my parent's house anyway. They won't even let me own an AIRSOFT gun- imagine their reaction if I showed up sporting a semi-auto assault rifle.

Funnily enough, I actually emailed the company about these, around a year and a half ago. I was asking them how much they would cost when released, if they'd had any potential buyers, that sort of thing. they responded that they had not yet heard from anyone, but that they planned to offer the gun for 'under $999'.

I.O. Inc has both STG-44 and MP-40 semi autos, which each retail for, I think, 3.5k and 2.5k respectively. I could look if needed.

I know it's not faithful, but maybe they should make some versions chambered in 7.62x39.
I would probably buy one chambered in 7.62 so I can actually shoot it a lot.
There isn't much brass available for x33 but I bet you could put standard 8mm FMJ rounds in the casing if you do find brass.

Seems more like a toss if you reload.

I think Fiocchi and maybe Sellier and Bellot make brass cased 7.92x33, but it's kind of expensive for a gun that can chew through a high volume of ammo real fast.
