Names of participants here, linked to Teepee (if any): Aviania (Dragain), Semuan-Ya Vasszuraj (dawns_aura), Zahraa' (Beejoux), Luinil (LadyKirin), Aldora (icy baby black and blues), Glain (Sweenys_Revenge)
OOC note: Welcome to the Flock's first hunting trip! If you're not a huntress or if your female does not like to hunt and prefer to forage, don't worry! The Flock's first festival is coming up so you will have the chance to RP there! <3 Having said that, if you're not a huntress, please feel free to join in anyway - all Harpies are trained to fight as children, remember?
Also, we need a Head Huntress to lead the hunt but until a suitable person is found for that job, the Queen will be leading, leaving behind others to guard the Flock while she's away.
How this hunt will work is like this: You have 24 hours to post that you wish to sign up for the hunt ICly by joining Aviania at her nest. After that, I will post and lead everyone out of Flock territory and deeper into the forest. We will then encounter some kind of animal - small animals (rabbits, foxes, etc) will have 20HP each and big animals (bears, cougars, etc) will have 100HP each. The one to land the last strike on a small animal will bring it home alone, and the last two to land the last two strikes on a big animal will bring it home; if the prey is the *last one we need for that hunt, everyone will go home together. By 'bringing it home', you make an exiting post and have no need to post further replies. (: I will stop rolling when the animal is dying because if I leave, the hunting party will not have a leader. xD
*We need to have at least killed enough animals to reach 120HP to sustain the Flock!
Damage done: If you forget to roll, post again and roll. Named position and trained to fight (Queen, Commander, Head Guard, Head Huntress): Roll 2 20-sided dice Named position but not trained to fight (Oracle, Head Forager): Roll 2 12-sided dice Members trained to fight (Guard, Huntress): Roll 1 20-sided die Members not trained to fight (Forager, Nanny, Musician): Roll 1 12-sided die Children (What are you doing here?): 1 8-sided die Males are not allowed on hunting trips!
Edit your post after every roll to reflect the remaining HP of the prey! If you killed the prey, well done! Edit your tag/RP response to reflect that as well!
Please note your posting order! If there is no post from the person after you after 48 hours (2 days), the next person should go ahead and post. For example, if the order is A B C D and C did not post after 48 hours, D should post after B. If C comes back after that, C will have to wait for her next turn to post again. :3
I hope everyone have fun! If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me! <3 I'm thinking of ways to reward active herd members, so if you have an idea, please post it in the herd's thread!

Was it time already?
The female opened her eyes, blinking at the sudden brightness before standing up, her clawed feet allowing her to better grip the floor of the nest she had built for herself on a tree; the sun was setting and soon, it would disappear behind the mountains in the distance. She stretched her limbs, flexing her claws; from her nest, she could see for quite a distance away - if not for the tall trees obstructing her view, she would be able to see further. Aviania smiled to herself as she leaped down from her nest, landing gracefully and softly on the forest floor; after escorting a scaled female into the Flock and asking her to join in the hunt earlier that day, she had returned to her nest to mediate - the spirits seem to like the stranger, even if some of her sisters were wary of her presence... It was time to see if the spirits were right in their judgment.
"Sisters! I know that today had been a busy day, but its time for the hunt!" She shrieked, her voice loud and clear as her smile widened, "Today, we have a guest with us - some of you might have seen her already... Her name is Semuan-Ya and I expect everyone to treat her like you would any sister during this trip! I will be leading this hunt myself, since its to commemorate our first meal in this foreign land... Those who wish to join in, you have until sundown to meet me at my nest."

Semuan-Ya raised her head eagerly when she heard the call to hunt. Gladly giving up her pretense of exploring she trotted towards the nest where the queen was waiting. Her wings quivered with excitement, and she came to a halt more on the fringes of the meeting area, not quite sure of the etiquette involved in a group hunt. Not sure of her place given that she was a stranger.
Having found what she considered a suitable place she bowed slightly to the queen in respect. "I'sssss here, highnessss."

 The pale harpy lifted her head from folded talons as the shriek of the queen reached her, ears standing alert. White eyes snapped automatically towards Aviania's nest, narrowing slightly at the wind serpent. Zahraa' had never taken quickly to outsiders. It wasn't in her nature to be accepting of others.
Raising up on long legs, the mare makes her way over to the Aviania's side, offering the queen's side a bump as she circles behind he to stand to her right. She'd already expressed her feelings towards the new arrival to the queen in private. Now she held her tongue. She might not be able to manage friend;y or even accepting, but if she kept her mouth shut she wouldn't come off as openly hostile. It was better then nothing. She wasn't exactly keen on the idea of Semuan-ya joining in on something so important as the hunt. If anything went wrong, it was their food supply that was on the line here, and having only just resettled, a lack of food would be.. Well, unfortunate. She didn't imagine the few males they currently had surviving long if the hunt didn't go over well..

Hearing the clarion call of the queen, Luinil rose from her slumber, eager to begin the hunt. But years of experience had taught the huntress that proper preparation was crucial to the success of a hunt, especially in unfamiliar lands. She stretched every muscle very carefully, her strong black talons digging deep into the soft soil, making sure that her body would not fail her at a critical time during the hunt. The sapphire harpy might not be the strongest of the flock, but her speed and stamina was the equal of any. Combined with her patience, they made her a skilled huntress.
With one last shake of her silver tipped head feathers, she sighed and headed towards the queen. Luinil much preferred solo hunting for small game rather than full flock hunts. Some of the more hot-headed harpies got a bit carried away during the larger hunts, making more work for everyone. But the largest prey couldn't be taken down by just one harpy, regardless of their strength or experience. Adding to her slight sense of disquiet was the presence of the scaled newcomer. While Luinil had nothing against the wind serpent, she was an unknown factor. Flock hunts were difficult enough to organize and execute without bringing a stranger into the mix. At least, the wind serpent certainly looked like she could take care of herself.
Approaching the queen, she nodded her head at her sisters and the wind serpent before bowing before Aviania. "A good day for a hunt, my queen."

Slowly Aldora's eyes fluttered open at the call of her queen. Long days made for long nights, but tonight she looked forward to the hunt. She wasn't strong by any means, but she enjoyed watching her sisters hunt.. it was a thrill.
After shaking out her head feathers she stood up and stretched out her back legs. Her tired eyes watched the rest of her sisters awake as well. Aldora made her way towards her queen and sisters. The sight of the non-Harpy confused her at first then she remembered. Unphased by her being a part of the hunt she gave a polite bow of her head towards the serpentine female.

As of that moment Glain had no children to look after. She tilted her head at the empty nest and wished painfully for a young one to appear there, for she was terribly bored. She sighed and settled gently into her nest, eager for a nap, or perhaps to bed down for the night. Her jade eyes slipped shut and she curled her head around her body, shifting until she was comfortable. The queen's voice made her ears perk and one eye open. Her call for hunters mad her stomach growl for the first time that day, and she lifted her head. Perhaps she was hungrier than she thought. Glain peered around at her empty nest and shrugged. Back home if she had no little ones then she would help with other duties, and she saw no reason for that to change now. Though her joints and muscles creaked and complained, she shook out her mane of feathers and padded her way over to the queens nest. "Semuan-Ya," she called happily, making her way over. "It's wonderful to see you again, did you ever find what you were looking for?"

The first to arrive, surprisingly, was none other than the stranger. It pleased the Queen, however, to know that the scaled one was eager to start the hunt - the spirits seemed to whisper 'I told you so!' as she nodded at Semuan-Ya, a smile on her lips, "Welcome, darling... We will head out as soon as the others are here." As she lifted her gaze, her smile widened as she caught sight of one of her most trusted sisters - her right hoof claw, the Commander Zahraa' heading towards them.
She chuckled as her beloved sister bumped her on her side when passing by; Aviania had already expected Zahraa' to feel this way... After all, most of the sisters were wary of strangers, and Zahraa' was the most unacceptable of all. Although she was the one who invited the scaled one along, even she felt hesitant about it! However, as the Spiritual leader of the Flock, she knew that she has a duty to listen to the many whims of the Great Spirit, logical or not.
"Indeed, Luinil! We shall make this hunt one to remember," She smiled excitedly, acknowledging the bow with a nod, "It seems that you look as ready as ever... I look forward to your performance tonight, darling!" She paused and looked at the next sister to join them; her eyes widened in mild surprise but she quickly regained her composure, taking a step towards one of the Flock's nanny.
"Aldora! My, my, do you plan to join us tonight?" The Queen beamed fondly at the dark female, knowing that the nanny was not usually one to take part in the more... Strenuous activities. Just as she was about to continue, the sight of another unusual addition to the hunting party made her pause. Her head feathers bristled, reflecting her inner excitement, as she grinned.
"Glain too? Praise the Great Mother!" She shrieked happily, but paused again when her sister turned to address the stranger, "Ah, darling... Have you two met before this, by any chance? You will have to tell me about it upon our return... For now, we need to start this hunt before it gets too dark out." It sounded very much like a simple request, but with her status in the Flock, it was more of a command.
Turning to face the East, the mare let out another shriek, this one loud enough to ring through the Flock's territory and maybe even across the nearby river. It was to signal the start of the hunt and to help boost the group's moral - in fact, she would not be surprised if the hunting party shrieked after her. She smiled and flexed her limbs before springing off suddenly, using her powerful hind legs to propel herself forward. Galloping through the Flock's territory, the Queen dodged the trees like she had done it her whole life, "Follow me, sisters, and do not fall behind!"
{OOC note: First animal - Odd number, small animal. Even number, big animal. Edit: Big animal incoming! ATTACK!}
As she darted deeper and deeper into the forest, she soon realized that they were not alone - the smell of fresh poo and a trail of paw prints soon led the Queen to a small den that was located beneath the roots of a tree. Whatever animal inside had been careless by not cleaning up after itself. Flashing a grin, she grabbed a nearby rock using her claws and tossed it at the den. A furious roar rumbled from within and a medium-sized bear poked its head out, grumpy after having been disturbed from its nap.
"Now, darlings!" Aviania gestured towards the bear, "Don't let your guard down! Semuan-Ya, Zahraa', go to its left. Luinil, Aldora and Glain, go to its right. Once you are in your positions, attack it one at a time until it is down!" She then grinned before finishing her sentence darkly, "I will stay here and make sure it has nowhere to run~"

Semuan merely nodded to the Queen as she waited for the others to show up one-by-one. She wasn’t surprised by the hostility and wariness she felt coming from the harpies as they arrived. She was however surprised by the black and pink harpy who at least acknowledged her when she arrived. She copied the gesture, inclining her head slightly.
The real surprise came when she was greeted warmly and by name. A warm smile crossed her face and she waved a wing at the cheerful harpy. “Greetingssss Glain. Isss goods to sssee you. “ She considered the rest of the harpy’s words. “I’ssss not csssertinsss yet, but perhapsss.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Though she was tempted to take to the skies to look for the prey, as was her habit when hunting alone, Semuan-Ya stayed with her hooves on the ground, staying with the others, though with a great deal of effort. Their speed, gliding through the forest was incredible, and she thanked the spirits that blessed her with her own serpentine speed and grace that she could in fact keep up.
She was somewhat surprised at how swiftly their first prey was discovered. The bear must have been fairly young, for being so careless. Her body responded automatically when the queen ordered her to the left side of the beast.
She darted forwards, her fangs starting to release small amounts of venom. Not that it would do much more than stun the beast for a while, along with whatever damage she could cause with her bite.
Dammit. She wasn't able to get a good enough grip to do much more than inject her venom into its veins. Well, at least that meant it would be slower to react to the harpies' attacks.
Others were approaching, some expected, some surprising. She kept her place at the queen's side, but turned pale eyes on her blue sister, smiling coolly. She liked the huntress, she was efficient and strong, and she knew Luinil wouldn't like the serpents presence any more then she did.
The appearance of the nannies had not been expected. They seldom left their nests, though with there being no current young ones to care for, they did have free time on their hands. A hunt just wasn't exactly the sort of thing they would voluntarily join in on. Another surprise came with Glain addressed the stranger so openly, and as though they had met before. Pale brows narrowed thoughtfully, but Aviania was moving forward. The hunt was about to begin, and further thought on anything but the matter at hand would have to wait until later.
Her own cry answered that of the queens, as she sprang forward, bounding along the forest floor and leaping to push off from the trunks of sturdy trees. The wind in her feathers, the soil and bark under claw, it all made her feel alive.
At the call of the queen she split to the left with the serpent, Semuan. Coming to an abrupt halt as the other mare darted forward to deliver her bite. A glancing blow at best, but she saw the milky arch of venom as Semuan withdrew. She had to admit, it was clever.
Darting forward, the pale harpy used a fallen trunk to spring up and over the bear, black talons tearing at the beast's back as she landed on top of it, using his own bulk to push off from, avoiding the claws it swung at her, jaws wide and roaring it's rage and pain.
Superficial damage at best, the bear's quick turn had blocked her from hitting anything important. Cursing her annoyance, she withdrew.
Luinil felt a surge of excitement as the flock gathered speed, following after their queen. The rush of the hunt once again sharpened her senses, stirring her blood as she weaved smoothly through the dense wood. The wind serpent kept pace with them quite easily, dispelling some of her worries regarding the newcomer's skills. The two nannies were a bit of a concern as they were not experienced at hunting, but she would keep a protective eye on them. It was good for them to have a chance to fly with the flock.
As they approached the bear's den, she followed her queen's instructions and split to the right with Aldora and Glain. She noted with approval the serpent's venom attack. That could come in handy. Commander Zahraa' made an impressive leap over the bear but her attack was unfortunately blocked by the bear's fast turn.
Luinil took advantage of the bear's distraction to make her own attack. The bear bellowed in agony as razor sharp talons ripped through fur and muscle. The sapphire harpy felt a glow of success. It seems she hadn't lost too much of her skills despite the long trip from their homelands.
Aldora beamed a smile towards her queen and nodded. "Yes my queen~ The excitement has caught up to me and I feel the rush of it all!"
When the stranger had motioned in the same way Aldora also flashed her a small smile for she was a bit more welcoming than most harpies. She was interested in seeing how the hunt would go with a new helping hand.
>
As their queen took off Aldora followed, a grin taking over her face. She usually didn't get the chance to help in hunts so she was glad for the chance. Hopes of not causing trouble raced through her mind for a moment, but she quickly brushed them aside as she tore to the right with Luinil and Glain.
Her eyes grew wide and she carefully watched her sisters take their shots at the bear. After they had made their carefully place attacks, some doing more damage than others, and had moved away it was her turn. With her eyes fixed on the damaged bear she lunged at it, talons ready to rip into the beast after her sisters.
To her pleasant surprise she was made a gash in the beast's side. Her eyes glistened and she let out a shrill yell of pure joy.
Glain bowed her head to Semuan and said gently, "Well, I hope you have then. It's always nice to have the things you want." She bowed again as the mare went left, and yet again to greet the sisters in her party. "This should prove to be some fun," she chirped quietly. She shifted the earth beneath her claws anxiously and grinned brightly. It always felt good to spend time with her sisters. The only better time she had was caring for the foals at the festivals. Ah, yes, how they would run about and play. It warmed her even thinking about it. She couldn't wait to have a new batch around to take care of. --- The bear was a bit bigger than Glain had expected, and she took half a step back from sheer shock. Quickly she regained her footing and dug her claws into the earth for footing. She was not trained to fight and hunt, but she could hold her own just fine, and intended to do so for the good of her sisters. Using the traction from the earth and the wings on her bracelet she darted forward at impossible speeds learned from dashing after children for many many years. With her front claws extended she flew at the beast, bracing for impact. It was not what she had expected, though it did do some damage. The marks were a bit more than superficial, though not fatal. Glain slunk back, pleased with her attempt. -bear HP 61-
{Some of you are rolling the wrong dice! Please read the first post before you tag, so as to ensure that you post the correct one this next round!}
With a proud smile on her lips, the Queen looked from where she was standing as her sisters attacked the bear relentlessly, trying to bring it down. Although it was not yet a full grown bear, it was strong from the energy it had gained from eating in preparation for the upcoming winter, and was not going down without a fight. It roared and swiped at the Harpies as they attacked it from all directions - it was wounded and bleeding badly by now, but the adrenaline pumping in its veins stopped him from feeling the pain caused by his injuries. However, the venom that had been injected into its body was also being pumped around its body and was finally taking its toll - the bear soon found itself tired and dizzy. In a desperate attempt to escape, it darted around those on its left suddenly, making a break for the bushes.
"Oh no, you're not going anywhere!" Aviania screeched as the bear attempted to escape; she had promised to keep the bear trapped, and she was intending to keep that promise. Dashing to her side in order to intercept the bear, the mare grinned - this is the rush of the hunt! The wind in her feathered mane and tail, the smell of blood in the air... How wonderful!
Claws extended, she made a swipe at the prey, causing it to be flung backwards like a powerless rag-doll, back towards where her sisters were waiting to make the few final blows to bring it down... And keep it that way. The blow was not too great; it would be bad if it died since the sisters did most of the work and should be the ones to claim the kill, not her.
Semuan-Ya watched as the bear was weakened by one darting strike after another, its confusion, pain and rage clearly visible as it was unable to make contact with any of its tormentors. It was plainly obvios when her venom had finally started to make an affect on the creature, its movements becoming even more sluggish. It was weakening, clearly reaching the end of its life.
This was the most dangerous part of any hunt where the prey was also a predator. It would become ever more fearful and enraged, finding in it hidden reservoirs of strength, allowing it to make a few devastating- if they connected- attacks before finally succumbing.
It was her time to attack. She aimed for the beast's unprotected throat, fangs bared, ready to try and rip its throat out. She could feel it when her jaws firmly connected with the rather delicate area, but before she could get a really good grip, the bear reacted, claws coming towards her sides, trying to take a chunk out of her own flesh. Forcing her to let go and jump further back, limiting the damage that she could have inflicted.
