Miyako trotted up the path to the cave she knew her fellow usidas lived in, eager to visit with her sidekick. It had been some time since last they spoke and she had found a grove of new apple trees to show him. Also, she was absolutely positive he'd want to hear all about her adventures. Even the ones she made up.
He was larger now - well, he had been growing more and more each day since they first moved here, but he was about his dad's size now... Deus even said that he would be larger than him soon! Zuriel smiled at the thought; perhaps then he would move out like his brother chose to... Although for entirely different reasons for sure! His smile turned into a frown, recalling how Darius had said that he didn't believe in God and had chose his own path... What a thing to say! And why did dad let him go like that? Pushing those thoughts to the back of his mind, however, the usdia smiled and trotted out of the cave - it was a brand new day, and he had no intention of ruining it before it even began.
"Zuri!" Miyako called, spotting her not-so-little-anymore sidekick. When did he get handsome? Anyhoo. She headed toward the young stallion, now able to look him in the eyes. "How have you been? You got big, too."
"Mi-Miyako?" The male's smile widened as he spotted his old friend; he was now old enough to know what to believe and what not to believe when Miyako tells him about her adventures. At first, he was rather upset that she had lied to the younger him, but he had been through so many adventures and fun with the mare that she remains one of his closest friends... Her smile is enough to make him forgive! He laughed, "I did! My dad is amazed at home much I'd grown too! I've been good, but life is not as fun without you around!" He chuckled before pausing, eyeing the female, "What aboiut you? What had you been up to?"
"Oh, you know, the usual. Saving the universe and looking good while doing it," the mare chuckled, tossing her unruly mane about. "Actually, i was coming over to tell you i found a new grove of apples. I'll show you where it is so your parents and brother can go there, too."
The male chuckled, "I see, I see." He smiled; he had always liked the way Miyako always seemed so happy and silly. Then again, perhaps the latter was causing the former. His eyes shone at the mention of apples, and his stomach growled; he hadn't eaten anything yet, so a grove of apples sounded like just what he needed. Silently thanking God for the food in his heart, the male grinned, "lead the way!"
"Hokay," Miyako chirped, swinging around to trot off to where she'd seen the apples. "So, how are things with your family? I haven't seen your dad around in awhile."
Zuriel followed after the mare, feeling again like the little colt that he had just grown out of not too long ago. Being called a sidekick is bringing back several fond memories of their days together, after all, and he wasn't that sure that he feel very much like an adult at all sometimes. At the mention of his dad, the male smiled, "Well, dad said now that my brother and I are all grown up, he trusts us to take care of ourselves and not get into trouble." He chuckled, "Although I think that's just an excuse to spend more time with mum! They've been taking early morning strolls to the lake and through the forest together... I think they even went for a trip to the beach where they first met a while ago!" His smile widened; he was glad that his parents are still so close after so long... It was nice to see. "As for my brother..." He paused, giving a sigh as his smile faded away, "He left, actually, to seek his own path or something... Dad seems okay, even happy, for him, but I can't help feeling that he shouldn't have done that..."
"Sorry about your brother. I hope he finds what he's looking for," Miyako said, looking at the stallion. She thought a moment, then tried to lighten the mood. "If your dad trusts you to stay out of trouble, why does he let you run off with me all the time?" She grinned at Zuriel as they reached the grove.
"Well, I hope so too, but... Mm, nevermind, its fine," Zuriel looked up, giving the mare a small smile; he really was fine, just a little upset over his brother's decisions in life. Then again, his life is his own and Zuriel knew that he do not have the right to interfere... Shaking his head, he chuckled before contining in a teasing tone, "Maybe he trusts me not to do anything weird while I'm out with you? Then again, that's almost impossible with you around!"
"Yeah," Miyako agreed, not at all offended. She nodded to the apple trees. "Here they are, just as I promised. No monsters or zombies anywhere around. We can eat in peace."
Zuriel smile, glad that his friend understood him when he didn't wish to talk about it. Looking in the direction she was gesturing at, his eyes widened - delicious looking red apples hang on the branches of the trees, and his stomach rumbled again, as if prompting him to go eat one. Pushing his hoofs against the trunk of the tree, he kept hitting it using his body weight in an attempt to shake some of the apples of a nearby tree. The leaves rustled at the tree shook, and a few leaves and twigs dropped, but no apples. Changing his strategy, he put all four hoofs on the ground again as he sniffed around. "Here, Miyako!" He yelled, obviously excited; he had found a few apples on the ground around an apple tree, and although they weren't as red as those still on the tree, they still look sweet and delicious, "I found some!"
Miyako galloped over, full speed, and jumped at a tree, hitting it with her forehooves. Apples rained down, a few hitting her on the head. "And that's how we did it in Calcutta." She grinned at her sidekick. "Now we have more to eat." She picked one up and munched on it, staring off into space with a sort of dopey expression of bliss.
"Awesome," Zuriel laughed as his stomach rumbled again, louder than before. Galloping over to the mare, he sniffed at one of the apples before biting down - the juices exploded in his mouth as he did, and the flesh of the apple was so crunchy and sweet! He munched down on the fruit happily, his tail swinging to and fro as he smiled. Between chews, the usdia stallion nodded, "Dis ish gud!"
"Apples are supposed to be tasty. It's what makes them keep doctors away," Miyako told him knowingly, bending her neck down to munch another apple.
"Really, now?" He chuckled in reply before swallowing the last of his first apple. Raising an eyebrow, the male sniffed at another apple, "It might explain why I've never seen sick then." Zuriel licked his lips as he he took a bite out of his second apple, his hunger satisfied for the time being.
"Yup, it's a well-known fact that doctors are terrified of apples. The juicier the better," Miyako said, moving to lie down now that she'd had her fill.
"Well, these are very juicy apples," Zuriel nodded as he finished his second apple, a contented look on his features as he laid down beside his friend, "The doctors will be staying away from me for a long while after today!"
"And how!" Miyako agreed. "This is nice. I don't know why I waited so long between visits. Saving the universe just gets to be a full-time job sometimes, I guess."
"Well, I think lets take a nice nap here before we go back home," Zuriel suggested, a grin on his lips; a fully stomach never fails to make him drowsy! He resisted the urge to yawn as he chuckled, "Even a hero needs to rest and recharge once in a while!"
"This is true," Miyako yawned, laying her head down. "After we rest, we can go for walkies and catch up on stuff."
"It's-" He was interrupted by a yawn, and smiled sheepishly as he spoke again, "It's a promise... For now, a nap is in order!" The male closed his eyes as he yawned again, before drifting off into dreamland.
