Does anyone in your area play without tributes?

Some people in my school play without tributes. I sometimes play them, so I built a non-tribute deck with some of my most powerful creatures.

You have to remember that "Duelist Kingdom Style" is more than just no tributes.
You can only attack with one monster per turn (unless it's under special conditions). You can't atk lifepoints directly. Some spell cards can be used as trap cards and vice versa
Duelist Kingdom rules really don't work well for real life duels.

Well, we don't actually play with the rules they had in Duelist Kingdom, we only use the no tributes rule and no forbidden list. There were way too many rules for us to play like they did, so we played with out tributes like Duelist Kingdom.

well...when I got yugioh, when it just came out, I read the rules and was screaming of how far off it was from the show. But when I started playing with all the LOB cards I had...I realized the match went very...VERY slow. So, sometimes I started to play with non-tributes just to have fun and pick up the pace ^^ but once some of the better cards came out, like around metal raiders, that's about the time I started to play with tributes fully.

I'm not sure why you guys call it "Duelist Kingdom style".. Sure, there was a no-tribute ruleset for that tournament, but they also used those rules, or at least the no-tribute rule, before that. They didn't start tributing until the "Battlecity Tournament". Or at least, that's how it goes in the manga..

You're right, they didn't start tributing until the Battle City Tournament (Actually, I think it was like a week or a month before Kiba started the tournament). That's what people call it in my little group of duelist in my school. We call the tributing style and forbidden list "Battle City" style.

i like the way they dueled in duelist kingdom, but i've noticed that yugi only uses some cards only once, like he uses Maiku the magical mist while dueling weevil, but that's it. but i really like the way he used it, with the summoned skull. that was really cool, but i don't think that the computers could manage so many combos like that

DK rules are different, and harder then everyone thinks its a real thinking game, you have to create a deck that has high attacks and defenses, and equal it with cards that could give you a momentary advantage
