No, not like you appreciate the items, but do they appreciate in value?
I'm holding a whole lot of stuff and I'm wondering whether anybody has any experience with doing that. Does the value increase? How long would you need to keep things to see the value top out?
For example, sealed donation letters ... unopened holiday items ... etc. Also, is it better to offer sealeds or opened in the marketplace?
Thanks for any ideas!

Well, I'm no expert moneymaker, I should warn you now. But I must say that I had the same idea...I'm planning to sell some of my Christmas items, but face it...right now everybody and their dog has them, since they were being given away free. I'm going to wait a couple of months until I can sell them for a higher price to some newbies who weren't here during the Christmas event. twisted

I sold the Christmas stuff (right around Christmas too razz ) I guess the people who bought them collected/were lazy to get them. (probably to sell to others even later, but hey.. I got gold. rofl )
I think the longer you wait (and depending on how much the item is used obviously) it'll get more expensive, so keep those Reindeer Slippers. >_>
From what I can tell, I'm thinking sealed everything is more expensive than opened ones, and about the price topping out: No idea. Just search the Marketplace and see when you see a good prcing? sweatdrop

I'm hoping the Island Girl hair wigs won't be on sale forever. They look like they'd be hot item for future newbies.
...That, and I bought a whole bunch. sweatdrop

I donated a bunch of money to Gaia, and sold off a bunch of December letters in bulk the day the items were announced. They have actually dropped in price since then. Some items are dumb, and not worth hanging onto. Other ones will be hot later. I still kept some of my letters for the sake of holding onto them for later.
The holiday stuff, I think sells better out of the box, because the people that want it generally want a specific item and do not want to look it up. The letters, unless they are insanely old awsome things, actually sell for a little less a lot of the time down the road. (In fact, that is how I get ahold of donation things I want... I look up the letter. sweatdrop )

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am keeping the Christmas stuff I got, but logically, I think I'll have to open the boxes to sell it so people know what it is.
For the sealed letters, I plan on checking the marketplace and seeing which of the two items, or the letter itself, gets more, when I'm ready to sell them.
TMO, I believe you when you say you're an expert. Do you think that things kind of reach an upper price limit, then stop? Will those horns of yours rise in price forever? And how do you decide what to sell and what to hold on to longer?
And here's a question ... is there anyplace that will tell you what's in a sealed?

I bought a Demonic Pendant for 10k and sold it for 15k a few months later. Items do get more expensive as time goes by (or they do in most cases, anyway). Example - KiKi Kittens. The price went up ridiculously within weeks after their first release. Another one - the older Nitemare/Angelic items, especially those from 2003/early 2004. Demonic/Angelic guitars are the same.
My advice - keep the stuff for as long as you can. With the sealeds/boxes/trunks etc., there's really no way of knowing. After all, you have Nitemare wings, and then you have Grass Skirts. It's a gamble. Bear in mind that I'm hardly an expert - that's what I'd do, though.

FastFresnel And here's a question ... is there anyplace that will tell you what's in a sealed? There's the Gaia Items List. 3nodding

FastFresnel Do you think that things kind of reach an upper price limit, then stop? Will those horns of yours rise in price forever?
From my experience, certain items have caps whilst others do not. For example - the angelic Halo, holds a market value of 90,000,000+ gold and continues to rise. However on the opposite end of the spectrum, the Monkey Pajamas hold a position of around 10k and is falling in value, even though other items from 2004 have hefty price tags. It's a suppy/demand scale - the higher the demand / lesser the supply, the higher the ceiling. Seeing that there are literally hundreds of new users each day, the supply becomes smaller and smaller making an unlimited ceiling for many of these items.
Oh, and a little less-known trivia - there are currently only 32 halos in existance on Gaia.
