Monster Hunter
I've played about 600 hours on PSP. And I believe the game would've remained the same in a few aspects. The tactic which is needed to capture a monster:
A monster needs to be at low health to be captured. Let's say about 20% when it tries to limp away. This is when you plant a trap and try to lure it into it. (Shock or Pitfall trap). After it ran in, throw two or three Tranq bombs and there you go.
(Also, I'm trying to find out what to give you for your birthday tomorrow without sending something that you think is useless gonk )

yeah, that's what the guild f*****t and village idiot tell me to do as well, but i'm absolutely horrible at it.
should I set up a trap for it BEFORE it starts to limp? i think i'm letting it recover too much health while I run to the next area. also, can i throw/shoot tranqs at it before it's weakened? or do I have to do it while it's in the trap? i'm way too slow at it srsly.

My way of capturing
The personal way I always capture a monster would be to try and get it's health down untill the point he limps away. There've been times I've accidentally killed the beast. But..
When it limps to another area. Attack it there so it got your attention, just once. After he's going after you again, plant the trap and make him run into it. Then tranq it, not beforehand.
