The ragdoll ran through a shop that was known for books about magic and some about herbs. The two people with her did not look happy either. Eve didn't pay attention to their moods as she looked at what she could see. The toddler had never been in such a shop before and she wanted to see what they sold.
Damin on the other hand was not happy with Ivy, he still growled about the assassin using a flamethrower on his favorite herb books. Ivy had been training and the vampire had put his books where the flamethrower was aimed for.
The vampire still wanted to rip the elf assassin a new one, pouting about his books being destroyed by her evil toy.
Ivy wasn't paying attention to him, she was looking out for her daughter and didn't trust what the shop sold to not hurt her Eve. The assassin didn't believe in magic actually and didn't trust it either.
Eve disappeared behind a few bookshelves, away from her mother and her uncle to look for healing spells. Something she wanted to learn about, not that she mentiond to her mother or any of her family. They didn't trust magic, especially her mother and thus the ragdoll didn't plan on telling her mother about her interest.

Magic books? Howl had never thought to look in this shop for the particular book he was searching for. Said particuar book was titled 'Das Zauberbuch'; which despite it's name, wasn't exactly magical. It was a story they had once sold in his original world; in German, naturally. The wizard was just about to start looking in the shelves for it when he spotted Eve. She was Sophie's friend! Abandoning his search, he went over to her.
"Hello," he greeted with a smile. "I'm Howl; I think we met briefly at the Saint Patrick's Day party--but I was never told your name." That and he was sure he'd seen Eve with Sophie at the ball. Absolutely sure of it.

Eve had been reaching for a book on a higher shelf, but she was startled by someone greeting her. She tripped, but caught herself. The ragdoll turned around with a smile, "Hello, Howl." She remembered him from the party that her mother let her go alone and even at the ball when she noticed him. "I'm Eve, you're Sophie' husband, right?"
She glanced at the book she was reaching for before and cursed her shortness at the moment. Part of her wanted to grow again, so she would be able to reach stuff without the help of her family or others.

Howl reached out a hand to take the book Eve had been trying to get. "Here," he said, giving her a smile. "Nice to meet you, Eve. That's right. She hasn't told how wicked I am, has she?" he asked rather hopefully. He genuinely hoped Sophie hadn't; he didn't want to end up being anyone's enemy before he'd even met them.
"Are you looking for anything else? Maybe I can help you find it." Despite the fact that his books were always in disarray and he'd never been to this shop before, he thought he had a good feel for where things were. "So, how do you know Sophie?" he asked.

Eve grinned when he handed the book to her, "Thank you, Howl." She thought for a moment and shook her head, "I told her that I saw you at the St. Patrick's day party and she said something about you being vain. You didn't seem that way at the party though." Eve laughed the wicked remark and held the book close. "My uncle Louie is more wicked than anyone I know, you don't seem wicked at all and no, she didn't say much about you besides you being vain."
"I'm trying to find healing spells to learn for my mother," she had noticed only the one book about healing though she didn't know what to look for completely.
"I met her when I went to pick some berries, I've only seen her again at the ball," Eve glanced around to make sure her mother hadn't come looking to check on.

"I am vain," Howl confessed. "And wicked," he added as an afterthought. "Mostly it was a rumor to keep people away. You know, the whole evil wizard who eats hearts thing. I don't really eat hearts. So don't worry." He paused, and looked around. "Healing? With herbs and stuff, or pure magic?" The wizard had little faith in herbs.
"I saw some magical ones over in that section," he pointed to the left. "Herbs are in the next row," he added, determined to be helpful. "What kind of berries were you picking? I like berries."

Eve raised an eye brow at the mention of him eating hearts, "I don't remember hearing about that. My uncle Louie is an assassin, so I think I don't fear you or worry about that."
She nodded, "Something that can heal wounds easily like gunshots and the like." She was willing to try pure magic or herbs, but she wanted to learn how to help her mother after one of her jobs.
She smiled at the direction, "Thank you and black berries were the berries." She did remember Sophie saying that he didn't eat anything or much of anything.

"An assassin?" Howl repeated frowning slightly and raising an eyebrow. Surely anyone who murdered people for a job was wicked? "And gunshots? Hm... I think pure magical healings would be best on those. You wouldn't want to put herbs on them in case the bullet's still in there, or something." Granted, Howl wasn't exactly well known for his healing abilities. In fact, he wasn't known for them at all.
"Blackberries? I love blackberries." A glimmer of hope sparked in Howl's eyes. "Was she going to make pie? Or cobbler? Or jam?" Just thinking about blackberries was making him hungry. It was true, he was an extremely picky eater; he hardly ate anything at all.

"Then I think I might need a teacher for that though I think Damin would dig the bullets out before we got to healing the wounds," Eve replied after nodding to his first comment. "I think my mommy does the same job, but nearly all of my family are assassins, I think."
She grinned, "She said she was making jam for you though I don't know if she did."
Eve herself was too young to really care about what her mother did for a living as her mother came home alive.

"I could teach you," Howl offered. He had been hoping for an apprentice ever since he'd arrived on Gaia. Michael had already left by the time the wizard had been brought here. "Mind you, my forte isn't with healing magic. I divine." Upon hearing that toddler's family were nearly all assassins, he fell silent. How could anyone choose a career like that?
"I know the theory, though," he added, in hopes that Eve didn't notice his hesitation. Of course he knew the theory; he was the greatest wizard in Ingary. "There should be some basic healing books in that section."

"I know I'm a bit young, but could you be my teacher," she nodded as she understood. "I'll try my best. So you can see into the future a little bit." She didn't seen anything wrong with her family's careers, though she was still a toddler.
Eve had noticed his hesitation, but she was still willing to learn what she could from him. She nodded and went to get the books, hoping they were within her range of reach.

"Apprentices often start young," Howl assured her. "Sophie and I have a son, named Morgan, and he was already powerful, even before he turned two. He's around three now, I think..." For a moment, it looked like he was having trouble remembering, then he nodded. "I can find things, too," he added, rather smugly. "People, objects, things hidden in other worlds. You seem to have an untapped magical talent," he mused. "Are you a witch? You have red hair, and that's always a good sign. Sophie used to have red hair..."
The wizard seemed to realize he was babbling, and fell silent for a moment before following her. He lifted a book from one of the higher shelves. "Basic magic," he read, wiping the dust off with his sleeve--which remarkably remained spotless. "You should start with this, I think. After you master healing scratches and stuff, then you can attempt healing bullet wounds."

"From the stories, I read. Boys get chosen as apprentices more than girls though I think that's wrong," Eve looked at him. "I'm either two or three and do you miss your son?"
She listened and sighed as finding things might come in handy for her since she was a bit forgetful sometimes.
Eve glanced back towards where she knew her mother was, checking to make sure her mother didn't hear that. "I don't think I am though my mother's a dark elf and the rest of the family are cursed vampires. I didn't come from my mother, I was adopted."
She touched her hair lightly at the mention of red hair being a sign of a witch.
She reached for the book, nodding as she knew it would be important. "I know I can get Anya's and Louie' help with getting wounds to heal. They fight viciously sometimes."

Howl shook his head. "Not in Ingary," he said. "Girls have just as much potential as boys do. In fact, girls' magic was often recognized earlier than boy's." Of course, Howl had discovered Ingary when he was around twenty, and figured that had he been born and raised in the world, his magical talent would have been realized far sooner. "Of course I miss Morgan!" he bristled. What kind of question was that anyway? After a few calming breaths, he sighed.
"The Azoulais haven't brought him to Gaia yet. Darcy hinted that she had already found a family for him, but he should be with us. With Sophie and I. No child should have his parents taken from him for a girl's petty experiments." Realizing that he was ranting, he handed her the book.
"Witches can be any race," Howl explained with a forced sort of smile. "All people on Gaia have some sort of magical background, I think. Especially if they know Darcy."

She smiled though blinked at his statement about his son. She knew parents had to care about their children, they took care of the children, didn't they?
"Perhaps you might be adults by then and then you can be guardians for Morgan," Eve said softly though she was a little hurt as Eve knew she herself was one of the petty experiments. She didn't remember the Azoulais though her mother said she hadn't met them either.
"Thank you," Eve held the book close, "Looks like it."
