It took him several times to finally hit the elevator button to the 4th floor. He had hit every available button other then that, several times, gotten off, walked off and then returned to the dreaded button. Finally he pushed it, getting out before he let it simply pass by.
It was times like this that he regretted his decision to become a Rocket. He had checked and double check and triple check, but the end date wasn't there on his record. And He didn't think he'd last another day not knowing. It wasn't the pay that bothered him, it was the sheer lack of non desert air. He was not an indoor creature. He had reached the door, while lost in his thoughts, he paused, staring at it. It smited him. He knew it did. The last thing he ever wanted to do was talk to an elite he was in trouble with.
Finally, he knocked.

"Come in," Nadja's voice sounded through the woodwork - cool, expectant, and slightly muffled.
When Panther entered, if he entered at all, he'd find the office on par with a grunt's dorm in terms of size - in fact, it was somewhat larger. The fiery-haired elite was at her desk, a window showing the clear desert sky at her back and papers laid out in front of her. A pair of striped paws and a large black nose stuck out behind one end of the desk; the animal ended in a fluffy cream tail on the other side.
Nadja spared Panther a glance.
"Yes?"

It wasn't his first time in an elite's room, and it wouldn't be the last. he kept close to the door, but closed it behind him. The large furry animal didn't bother him, her cold gaze did. He knew she was probably annoyed with him, but did all elites have to act like Seth?
For a moment his mind blanked, forgetting how he was going to ask, and his expression showed it beneath his glasses, which he had left on. He glanced down, at the creature behind the desk, collecting his thoughts. "I was wondering if you had decided on an end date." He said not looking up, his cheeks tinging a few shades redder on his tan skin.

"Have you earned it?"
The elite had already returned to her papers and didn't look up again. She reached for a slim pen at her side and signed off on some document, the tip making a scratching noise as she finished her signature.
The Arcanine's tail thumped slowly against the floor.

What a strange question. He ignored her further attempts to annoy him and gave it a moment's thought. Normally he'd just say yes and do his own thing. Normally, had he been back home. But this was different, and a voice echoed back to him, something about being submissive till you got higher in rank. He was wrong, he had joined the military, just one with stranger rules.
"I don't know, that's up to you."

Planting the tips of her arched fingers lightly on the paper, Nadja slid the first document up and added her signature to the one beneath it.
"I'm asking what you think." Her voice was calm, quiet, even.

Mind games, he hated mind games. "I think so." he added a little emphasis on the word think.

"Then tell me why you were given the punishment in the first place."
There was a tumbler of water on the elite's desk; she reached for it and took a sip, grey eyes evaluating the grunt over the glass rim.

What was this kindergarten? Really? He frowned at her, he might as well leave, he wasn't getting anywhere. But it might get him in more trouble, though he doubted anything he could say at the moment wouldn't. Instead he simply stares at the wall to his right not saying anything.

The redheaded elite watched him expectantly, lips poised on the edge of the glass. When a minute passed Nadja set her papers aside, squaring the edges before she slipped them into an envelope. She might be waiting for an answer, but she didn't have to waste her time.
The woman rose and walked across the room, her boots silent on the carpet, and pulled a file down from a bookcase near the door. "This is exactly the reason you have extended duty," she commented in passing.

"Sorry Madam, trying not to say anything else stupid. I won't waste anymore of your time." He stepped back to the door, in an effort to excuse himself. He knew he sounded stupid, but he was not good with the mind games she insisted on playing.

"Ma'am," she corrected him with a brief look. "Don't be excessive."
The Arcanine raised its head as she returned to her desk, cradling the folder in her arm as she paged through its contents. "Let me know when you have an answer to the question." It had been a fairly straightforward one.

He nods a bit and slips out the door with a quiet click behind him, there was no point in staying.
Head down he made a bee line for his room, waiting the aching moments int he elevator between floors and then walking straight for it, not watching where he was going.

Kofuku was walking down the halls from the cafeteria, flipping through note cards as she did her best to absorb all the information she'd written down. Not even realizing there was someone else right around the corner, she crashed into Panther, dropping all of her note cards and blinking in confusion.
Realizing who it was, she instantly smiled. "Panther! Hey!" She chirped out, no knowing what had just happened to him moments before in Nadja's room.

Something bumped into him, someone said something, it annoyed him, but he ignored it, continuing on his path undeterred.
