Dath was starting to enjoy these little chats he developed with others. Sure, most of those others were gods as well, but it was an interesting debate about what was right. He certainly was in the right, as he was fulfilling his duty to keep the belief in Chaos strong. Besides, it was always fun to shed a little blood in the name of faith.
So today, he was scouting out a good mortal to talk to. Fresh from a kill, cleaned up as prefectly as only an immortal could manage in such a short amount of time, he wandered slowly, aimlessly, waiting to see if perhaps someone would have the guts to approach him, blatantly letting his wings shine in the soft light of the morning.
When he had grown tired of wandering, as ignored as he was (or so he felt), he reclined against a large rock, taking a chance to see if he looked more...approachable, sitting respectfully. It was all a game to him, and he hoped he could find a player to make it fun.
Maktaba was having as good a day as he normally had. At least he hadn't fallen down any holes or gotten chased by someone accusing him of stealing their cub. So far, he had just missed catching some lunch and hadn't run into a single person to talk to. Rather boring, if anyone asked him.
Which they didn't, because there was no one around.
He was thinking to himself, searching his memory for obscure facts and trying to string together what new things he had learned with information from before, exploring the ways the pride he had recently visited fit with some of the others for example, he hardly noticed the large winged lion sitting on the rock nearby.
In fact, he was nearly passed the other before he stopped and looked back, surprise registering on his muzzle, his soft green eyes focusing on the strange form. He was not a stranger to Gods, but they still befuddled him. He didn't know if he should approach or not, leaning from one paw to the other as he considered his options. In the end, his curiosity won out and he found himself going over to the lion slowly, carefully, holding his head up but trying not to look like he meant any harm.
Because Maktaba didn't. Ever. He did not like fighting, even if he did find himself dragged into them all the time.
"Ah..." he began awkwardly, blinking, "good day."

Ahhh, finally! Dath was starting to get a little bored. He grinned a little, and no matter what he attempted, it always looked a little wicked. "Finally!" he finally said, rustling his wings around in thinly veiled anticipation. "I was starting to get bored, and finding me when I'm bored usually ends up in a different set of expectations," he mused, feeling oddly excited and yet worried that his expectations were too high.
Then again, for amusement purposes, Confusion had set the bar pretty high.
"Mortals have no manners, always ignoring the gods that they either love or hate," he mused, his tail curling around his body, the tip thumping against his hip methodically.

Maktaba did not miss the fairly sinister smile the other had, but he told himself he was just imagining it. He had a habit, old Maktaba did, of jumping to conclusions, though he tried not to. He was just so used to figuring things out, it seemed he sometimes forgot to examine everything before making decisions about situations. It was by conscious effort that he reminded himself not to judge someone by how they looked.
He tilted his head at the God, eyes pouring over the other's form. He took in the color of his pelt, the shape of his wings. He looked much different to the last God Maktaba had run into, and that was utterly fascinating. Just how different could they all be?
"I suppose that might be true," the brown lion replied thoughtfully, "I've never given much thought about worshiping Gods, ah... forgive me for that..." he cleared his throat awkwardly there. He had to stop talking before thinking, "I just mean I don't have Gods that I 'love' or 'hate'... I do hope you don't mind my coming up to talk. I ah... I can't imagine how anyone can ignore a being such as yourself."
And he wasn't flattering the other, or trying to suck up: he honestly meant it, looking baffled just trying to imagine someone walking right by a God without wanting to ask them even one question. That was just a waste of a learning opportunity.

Dath eyed the other one with much scrutiny. Well, it seemed that he had a head on his shoulders, though perhaps not one that would keep him amused for too long. His favourite, of course, were the females that gave him quite a boost to his ego; who wouldn't like hearing about how awesome they were? Still, he'd take what he was given, and there was already a small hint that this could be interesting.
Dath waved a paw around dismissively. "Most of the mortals I've seen don't offer any respect to any gods. So your opinion won't offend me," he said, though there was a lack of real belief in what he said.
"Normally, when I want respect, I take it," he grinned. "Though I'm impressed and pleased with your approach." He nestled himself in contently, feeling quite proud (which was silly, with only having the 'skill' to attract one instead of many, but that was how Dath was) and ready to chat. "A name?" he asked.
((sorry if it seems a little weird :< ))

Maktaba considered the others words, getting a weird feeling at the base of his spine, a shudder running down to his tail.
"Oh, my name is Maktaba," he said at the prompt, nodding a few times unnecessarily. He smiled, then let it fade to a more stoic expression. He wasn't sure how to act around this God, that creeping feeling not leaving him.
"And yours?" He ventured to ask, sitting down nearby. Not too close, but close enough to get a good look at the other. Gods truly were fascinating creatures. Maktaba didn't hide that he was staring now, losing himself to his interest and forgetting his manners.
"And what do you rule over? I know Gods have powers specific to them, like my friend has abilities relating to 'youth'."

Odd name. Truthfully, though, Dath had come across stranger, and much longer names. "Maktaba, hmmm?" He wanted to make him feel even more uncomfortable, as playing with the emotions and fears of mortals was one of Dath's favourite hobbies. Yet, he was enjoying the attention a little too much, as it had been far too long to be admired. He was so happy he couldn't help but relax in this mortal's presence.
"Dath'charukai," he replied. "Chaos," he tagged along at the end, always wondering how others would take it. Normally it wasn't a good thing, as most people thought chaos was 'evil.' Dath liked being 'evil', as it made him feel stronger, but it was always a fun point to debate that fact.
He did, however, quirk an ear at the mentioning of 'youth'. "Ah, so you're quite versed in our world, at least moreso than the normal lion walking next to you, hm?"

The brown lion tilted his head. He was so fascinated by Gods, at the moment this one in particular, it was difficult for him to remember that they were all powerful beings that could, if they wanted to, do very terrible things to him. Forgetting that would probably get him in trouble one day, but it just didn't occur to him.
His eyebrows lifted a bit when the God said his domain, though, clearing his throat.
"C-chaos? Well that's certainly, ah... interesting." He looked thoughtful. He had a group in the old days, when he was an adolescent, that had been a bit wild. More than a bit, and that kind of 'wild' that drove adults crazy. They went from place to place, causing whatever trouble they could, never getting tied down and always in some kind of crazy situation. More than once they had been accused of causing chaos.
By looking at him now, though, it didn't seem like he even knew the definition of the word.
"I wouldn't say versed, but I think I've more exposure than most," he nodded, not looking boastful. He was still very rapt, noting every word the god said. "Really, though, that's not much."

Dath was pleased at the response, though he was curious as to what made it 'interesting' with a pause. Was there a bit of disgust against that? Curiosity? Fear? Perhaps a little of each? Whatever it was, Dath was shallow enough to enjoy it. He was going to prod a little, see if he could get some answers to his unspoken questions.
"Well, you must be, since most of the little whelps I run into have no manner around us," he said with a snort. He remembered that violet lioness, the one that disregarded him as easily as a fly. He certainly showed her, even though he didn't have to lay a paw on her. It was a challenge, as he loved a good kill, but sometimes it was good to instill the fear, and grow his reputation.
"Although...I am interested in how you perceive me," he said with a grin, going back to his first though.

Maktaba looked confused, then thoughtful. He furrowed his forehead in thought, flicking his tail behind him as he considered the question.
"Well, to be perfectly honest," he said, laughing a bit, "you're rather intimidating. I'm not quite sure how any one might ignore you, as you said some do. Or how they can dare to have no manners around you when I'm doing my absolute best not to panic." He laughed, shaking his head slowly. It was mostly a joke.
Mostly.
He tilted his head at the God. "I suppose you perceive me in a much less... ah... well. I'm not much to perceive, I suppose."
