Joliette was growing impatient with the water, ok sure yeah it would have been worse going the other direction... but least she wouldn't have been watching the slowly moving water pull her towards an island... She'd made it maybe another 50 feet, she was still a good 150ish feet offshore, she there was no way she was getting in the water at that depth...

She shifted positions, she could swear her rear end was falling asleep, she doubted she'd feel it by the time she made it the last 125ish feet to shore.

Joliette eventually took to laying on the piece of hull looking up at the setting sky... she was bored, she was lonely... And damn it she was hungry. She looked sideways, still a good 50 or 60 feet before it'd be shallow enough for her to get her feet on the sandy ocean floor.
Hearing her stomach gurgle for the hundredth time she rolled onto her belly and looked down into the water, it was dark, very dark, an obvious sign of it's depth. She saw the reflection of the setting sun on a few fish near the surface. Her tongue flicked and inadvertantly hit hte water's surface, she cringed when she tasted the salt water the forked surface brought back to her.
Ok that seriously wasn't going to help... She was already thristy... She knew very well that salt only made one thirtsy... She was already thirsty though, she had not had anything all day and had been sitting under the hot January sun. She rolled back onto her back and closed her eyes. She did her best to ignore her growlly belly and hte dry feeling in her mouth, a feeling that screamed at her for moisture, she was wondering if she'd even sound remotely normal when she finally spoke, she had a feeling liquid would be called for first...
What was the explosion... she knew she had managed to get just barely enough time to photograph it before being pulled unconscious... The more she thought about it, the more she was not only confused... but her journalistic instincts and curiousity started to get the better of her and she started imagining many different scenarios... Everything from the lab blowing up, to the mansion she'd seen in her viewfinder blowing up...
She also thought about where she was... she couldn't help but think it was a cruel 'joke' she had a creepy sneaky suspiscion it was the work of the git... She couldn't pick up any other scents other then her own so she couldn't be sure... But all the clues were there, she was stuck way out from the island, she was on a piece of her very own ship... who else could do that, she'd never even met the doctor Moreau, and though his magazines brought a lack of hope to her, she had a feeling THEY were the doc's doing not the git's after all there was an ipod in there too...
She thought about the piece of the ship... It was fairly large, not to mention a fairly thick fiberglass... she wondered if perhaps she could manage to hide it... Perhaps... just perhaps she could use it to try and escape at a later time when she could find something to serve as a paddle... and take some supplies with her... All these thoughts and ideas were rolling through her mind as she floated along

Chubbs sniffed his way along the beach, he was trying to get use to his nose, it was pretty hard. He got the idea when he got back to his duplex, he had smelt Joliette's sweet body smell in the area and he thought he'd attempt to smell her out. He managed after a long time trying, to follow a trail he thought led to a beach. there was so many smells that kept jumping in the way. His brain couldn't syphon out the offending odors that were hampering him. Everynow and then he picked up a wiff of her smell, it was like a blind man using a cane.
Now at the beach, it was near impossible to find the smell. The salty air, sand and his own smell just wiped her scent off the map. He held onto his bruised and battered arm and looked around. There was nothing, nothing her could see. Chubbs began searching along the beach, trying to find any sign of her. And in the dark, he made it out, barely in the moonlight, a footprint. He found another nearby, and then another. The looked small enough to be her. Chubbs ran after the prints, making out what he could untill they stopped, the waves washing over the last print and eating it away. He looked up with wide eyes and panicked, had she sunk into the sea? Chubbs looked around frantically, then he caught a glimpse of something out in the water, floating way out in the ocean. He looked closely, squinting to make out anything, hoping it wasn't a corpse. Then he saw it, a body, small enough to be Joliette, floating on some board thing. Chubbs ran into the water and started swimming. He was a good swimmer for the fact he floated really well, but the water was freezing and his arm was busted up, but he didn't care, even if it wasn't Joliette, someone was in trouble.

"Twinkle twinkle little star..." Joliette said in a croaky singsong voice opening her eyes and looking up at the few stars that had begun to specle the night sky, she lifted a hand as if to reach out and take one from the sky. She hadn't even heard the splashing of water, she's tuned out the water having been listening to it all day. She was hungry, she was dehystrated, and damn she HAD to go bathroom......

Chubbs swam against the waves and headed towards the floating debris. It was exhausting, especially with his arm all stuffed. He dreaded it but began swimming with both arms and yelled into the water. His arm ached like crazy but he still tried. He drew closer and could actually make out Joliette, it was her! Chubbs swam harder, and stopped every now and then to wave and shout at her.
"Joliebllbbblllll... blah... stupid water"
He swam at her with burning lungs and a arm that felt like it was going to fly off, but something overrided it all.

"How I wonder what you are..." the day had finally caught up with her, the heat of the sun on her... She'd easily gotten a sunburn, was feeling the effects of sunstroke and dehydration all at once... Oh the joys of being stuck on the water all day. She snatched at the sky trying to 'grab' a star or two

Chubbs drew closer yet, he felt every stroke of his arm through the water, he could almost touch her but she was always just out of reach. He finally connected with her make shift raft and held on, gasping for breath as he looked at her. He twisted around till he could see her face, she looked out of it and exhausted. Chubbs was feelinf stuffed as well, but he had to get her to shore. He got behind the raft and held on, beggining to peddle his legs. The started heading back to shore slowly but surely.

"Up above the world so high... hey come back here star" she said turning her torso slightly to grab at the star that was more quickly moving out of 'reach' with Chubb's pushing of the raft... Her tongue flickered... scent... food! She turned her head looking rather zoned out moving to 'eat' what she could find close... which just happened to be... Chubbs' arm

" AH! son of a b***h!"
Chubbs swore when Joliette bit him, he growled and his hand turned into a fist and pulled back to knock Joliette's head off. He stopped though and blinked, the instict to fight was getting annoying. He instead pulled Joliette off his arm, she hadn't done much damage but she was obviously out of it. He pondered how long she had been out here. Chubbs was tired, but he peddled and wrestled with Joliette, trying to avoid her claws that scratched him every now and then.
" Oi!, bloody snap outa it!"

By the time they neared shore she's returned to her song with only an occasional swipe at Chubb's arm "Like Diamond in Sky,..." she'd reach and grab at one... her tongue flickering, she yawned softly but made no effort to close her eyes. she whimpered when he pushed a hand away, more for the sunburn on her body then the fact of being pushed away

Chubbs, Joliette and the raft hit the shore, and he flopped exhausted on the beach. He lay there watching Joliette as he caught his breath, she was halucinating or something. He couldn't move his right arm, at least not his shoulder, it was impossible. He slowly got up from the sand, listening to her sing her crazy song. He grabbed her about the middle with his arm, bent down and hoisted her over his shoulder. His knee's shook some but he adjusted and soldiered towards the village and to the river where he could get her a drink.

Joliette whimpered from the sunburn as she was lifted, her camera bag was still looped over her neck and shoulder and hung loosely as he carried her. Her song had stopped and she watched foggily the ground that passed behind of Chubbs

Chubbs lead Joliette back to the spot he had dragged her ashore. The chunk of the boat lay there in the sand. He looked around the area, trying to figure out how to hide the piece of wood. Nearby he noticed the side of a cliff and a little indentation at the bottom. Chubbs motioned to the spot with his good arm.
" Over there?.. we can cover it"
