Rhodizite was in an unusually good mood; things were working out better than he'd expected, and while life wasn't exactly perfect (life never was), he was content, which was a rather big deal for him. Lately, he was managing his time at night between staying with Khalla, and hunting, and amazingly enough, it worked out far better than he'd expected. The girl was just as busy with her family and studies as he was with his... extra curricular duties.

At any rate, he was in a particularly good mood, and it reflected in his choice of target; he'd spotted a rather shady fellow following a student earlier that night, and he, in turn, had followed them till they'd entered the park (what was it with the damned park and him? He kept gravitating his patrols into the stupid place for one reason or another). It was only when the man had advanced forward, intent clearly written in his eyes, that Rhodizite had acted. He'd swung his chain out from his hiding place behind a tree, feeling it wrap around the man's right leg; the tension, coupled with the impact, caused the civilian to topple to the ground with a startled cry.

When he'd emerged from behind the tree he'd been using as a hiding place, he'd given the girl one long, sharp look, which had sent her rushing off; the books she had been carrying (no doubt on her way home from some academy, or extra-curricular classes) were dropped and forgotten. As soon as the girl left, his gaze focused down on the man that lay on the ground, struggling to release his leg from the chain, "No, I'm afraid you are not going anywhere," he murmured as he gave the chain a yank, and then whipped the man on the head with the other end, effectively knocking him out. That done, he knelt down and after a moment, flexed his fingers and shoved his hand into the man's chest.

Everything was working like a charm. Too bad that this usually meant that something was about to go horribly, horribly wrong.

Alkaid often patrolled the park. It was a place she had always been very fond of and she felt compelled to keep the people there safe, especially after dark. She knew that the negaverse agents left no stone unturned - after all, she had found Nealite here. That meant she was already in the vicinity when she heard a man cry out and although she had really been hoping for one peaceful night, she didn't hesitate to turn on her heel and rush in that direction. She was a streak of pale white in the darkness of the park, her bow and cape billowing behind her as she went as fast as she possibly could.

There was already a frown on her face as she arrived on scene and it only deepened as she took it all in quickly. A man on the ground, books scattered around him, and one of the creepiest Negaversers she had ever seen standing over him with.. his hand in his chest. Alarm sent shivers up her spine and widened her eyes as Alkaid jumped to the first conclusion she could think of - this long-haired, masked creep had attacked a teacher or a librarian.

"Stop right there!" It was kind of cheesy, but it was confident and bold. She even held up one hand with her finger pointed ominously right in his direction. She took a step forward and spread the fingers of that same hand out, holding it more out and to the side instead of directly in front of her now. She was readying it for her attack - not that it would do much, but he didn't know that. If it looked ominous maybe he wouldn't try anything.

"Let that man go!" Alkaid unfortunately had jumped to the wrong conclusion - but it wasn't the first time. Even if she'd known who she was saving, it would have made little difference to her. She didn't condone stealing starseeds. That fate was something she would never wish on anyone.

Rhodizite's hand recoiled out of the man's chest, more out of surprise than anything else. His tongue clicked over his teeth as he lifted his head to look at the newcomer, "He doesn't deserve to live," he was really getting tired of being interrupted. It was like he was some sort of magnet for senshi, and they only appeared when he was just about to carry out his job, "Do you really want me to let him go? You'd probably have taken him down too, had you been here three minutes ago. The difference between you and I... is that once I handle this, he won't be a problem to anyone, ever again."

Still, despite his words, he stood up from the ground, using his foot to kick the unconscious man away from him. He figured he'd hit him strong enough to keep him unconscious for a rather long while. Which meant he could deal with this senshi, whomever she was, and then return to grab the star seed as soon as as it was all over, "I'll let him go. For now," it was obvious he planned on going back to finishing what he'd started after dealing with her, "Now then, shall we?"

That said, he rushed forwards; from looks alone, he had no idea what her sphere or powers were, but he wasn't planning on giving her time to use them, "I'm Rhodizite," he told her as he whipped his chain towards her, intent on wrapping it around her leg in order to bring her down, "And I'll make sure your bones shatter," his eyes were on hers, and then, something in her eyes cause him to falter, if only minimally; it was just a twitch of his wrist, but that small twitch of movement caused his aim to shift.

Rather than wrapping around her leg, the chain graced her skin slightly, but flew past her.

"That's not your choice to make," she hissed out, bringing up her other hand to mirror the first. If he wouldn't just leave and be on his way in peace (when did these animals ever?) then she supposed she had no choice but to fight him. Just as she was about to open her mouth and shout out her attack though, he shocked her into silence as he brought up that chain and whipped it out. Beaten to the punch, she could no longer attack but had to instead take the defensive.

She grimaced before the chain ever reached her but was thankful that it only grazed her - this guy had terrible aim. She didn't respond to his terrible, cheesy little remark. She'd heard quite a few of those already from a few others of his kind. Instead, as the chain flew past her she snapped her wrist out and grabbed it. With a small purse of her lips, she held it tight and looped her wrist under the chain so that it was wound around it instead. Then she grabbed it with her other hand and gave it a hard yank, aiming to drag him towards her.

She was counting on the fact that he was too used to combat at the length of his chain and not any closer. If it went like she guessed it would, she could drag him to her and then use the close combat to attack him with her fists. Maybe not the most effective strategy, or the best planned, but it was all she had without her partner here to back her up.

When his chain flew past her, Rhodizite hissed in frustration, making a 'tsk' like sound by clicking his tongue over his teeth. What the hell had that been anyhow? She was right there, and he'd missed her! He seemed to be too engrossed in kicking himself mentally to notice the way the girl's hand curled around the chain and by the time she'd gripped it, it was too late.

His brows shot up in surprise as she gave the chain a harsh yank, forcing him to stumble several steps forward, feeling mildly disorientated. After all, no one had really ever tried to do that before, and it'd thrown him for a hoop. In all honesty, he was more used to direct, hand to hand combat, mostly due to the fact he used the chain to drag his oponents forward swiftly. The sooner, the better; he'd noticed that most senshi needed space to perform their attacks, and if he invaded that space and tied their hands, it became harder for them to use it. The same thing applied to throwing most of them to the ground.

At any rate, as soon as the surprise of being being dragged forth wore off, he frowned again, and actually 'helped' her, by issuing forth a yank of his own, intent on bringing her fully up against him, "That's my game to play," he murmured, his voice cold, calm and harsh. He was planning on elbowing her in the face when she got near enough; it was clear in the way he posed himself.

However, the attack never came. He stood towering over her, and her eyes, of all things caught his attention yet again, distracting him momentarily. There was something about those eyes, and Rhodizite couldn't tell if it was fury he saw in them, or the determination, or something else entirely. There was something hauntingly beautiful about those eyes, and it was frustratingly distracting. So much so, that despite the yank he'd issued, he never managed to follow through with part B of his attack plan, instead bringing the senshi against him.

It had been a risk and a long shot but she had decided to go for it. Unfortunately, the outcome she desired hadn't exactly.. come to pass. When she pulled on the chain it caused him to stumble forward, but he found his footing. As his words rang out cold and true, she realized he had a lot more knowledge of how to use his weapon than she did. She had miscalculated and, well, he hadn't.

She grit her teeth as she was forcefully dragged across the paved path of the park, the chain tightening around her wrist and squeezing it so painfully that she almost cried out. She expected him to hit her, or at least berate her some more, but neither of those things happened. He drew her against him instead and just.. stared at her, like she was some kind of ghost. She had absolutely no idea what this creepy jerk was going to do, but she certainly wasn't going to sit around and let him to do it if she had the time to act otherwise.

She sat still for a second, held in his grasp, trying to decide exactly what would be the best course of action. She could still hit him with her attack this close (there was never a chance she could miss) but there was a good chance that he could hurt her before the words were even out of her mouth. She decided on the surprise attack option instead.

With one quick shift, she drew back her free hand and shoved the palm hard up towards his nose. With luck and good aim, she could break it. Otherwise it was still going to hurt like a b***h and probably bleed. There was no such thing as dirty fighting in her world.

It was likely he would later bash his head against a wall in his apartment. Twice now, this senshi had been right there, and twice he'd failed to do jack-s**t about it. Needless to say, the notion was beginning to do more than frustrate him; it was downright pissing him off.

As it was that, his brain wasn't entirely there, too caught up in the fact he had absolutely no idea what it was about her damned eyes that was catching his attention to do much of anything else. So caught up was he in the moment, that when the senshi came forth, crashing into him, he went as far as instinctively reaching out, preventing her from falling over. He should have been using that time to hit her, and instead, he'd reached out to her.

Had he been in his sane mind, that would have been the moment Rhodizite should have decided something was horribly wrong with him. He should have simply turned away from this battle and left the scene. Lord knew he could have, because most senshi seemed to lose interest in him once he backed off. But no, instead of going with what he should have done, the anger that bubbled up through him (fueled by his own incapacity), kept him rooted to the spot.

He shoot her a brief, heated glare, and if looks could have killed, Alkaid would have died a long, suffering death, standing where she was in his arm. He'd swiftly decided he did not like this senshi at all.

Suddenly the girl pulled her arm away and punched him square in the face; his arms, which had been holding onto her sides, swiftly let go and he stumbled back several steps, the chain now hanging limp between them, almost like an umbilical cord. His free hand reached up to cover his nose, though blood slowly slipped between his fingers and dripped on the floor, indicating she had, indeed, pulled a good stunt on him. He stood still for a long moment, and then set his gaze back on hers, his red eyes flashing with anger, and they were the same color as the liquid that was still slowly dripping from his hands, "I'm going to kill you," he rasped.

It was then and there that he decided he didn't just dislike this senshi; he hated her with the burning, fiery passions of hell. The hand that covered his nose moved, and a loud crack resounded. When he lifted it, blood was still dripping out, but it didn't look broken. He tried again, his hand tensed on the chain and he gave it another yank, this time putting all his strength into the movement, his free hand prepared to simply plunge into her chest.

She was aware of the change in his demeanor even before she struck him - but it was glaringly apparent afterward. She drew back and away from him as he released her so quickly, stumbling a little but collecting herself without too much trouble. She had started to try and pry the now-tangled chain from around her wrist when he spoke and drew her attention back up.

"You can try," she hissed through gritted teeth, narrowing her eyes on him. Her wrist really hurt from the circulation being partially cut off by now. She was blindly digging at it and trying to keep an eye on him all at once - unsuccessful for the most part, especially when he snapped his nose back into place. The sound of the cartilage rang out around her and she visibly grimaced.

She had no time to prepare herself as he yanked on the chain once more and this time she actually did cry out. She went flying back towards him and all she could see was his outstretched hand aiming.. directly for her chest. With panic setting in, she had a split second to think of a plan. Rearing back her free hand once again, she used the momentum of the chain pulling her in combined with one lurch forward of her own - and aimed a punch directly for his exposed gut.

If she could just stun him enough to get this chain off, she could get away.

To his credit, this time he didn't actually hesitate. Had he been just a bit faster, he'd have managed to strike his target in the intended manner. Unfortunately for him, the girl was a tad faster than he was, probably fueled more by adrenaline and panic than she was by anger. She'd angled herself in a way that allowed her to aim a punch straight into his gut before he managed to plunge his hand into her chest.

As it was, he gasped out a breath, winded by the impact of the attack. The hand he'd aimed at her chest moved, and given the fact she was, in fact, the nearest thing, it instinctively sought out leverage by landing on her shoulder. Ironically, her form was the only thing that kept him from doubling over, his grip on her shoulder harsh as he kept his head down for a second. Even despite being winded, coughing and gasping for breath, he lifted his head, only to find her face inches from him, and those damned, cursed, haunting eyes just staring up into his.

The grip he'd held on the chain loosened in the wake of the event, and he found himself once again rooted the spot, helplessly looking into her eyes. It was as if he were seeking some sort of answer inside them, something, anything, everything.

They stared back at him harshly and gave him nothing he could even identify as an answer.

What was it with this creep?

She had expected him to double over, she had even kind of expected him to reach out to find some kind of way to stabilize himself. What she didn't expect was another one of those long, creepy stares. She didn't break her eyes away though, because like the first time, it seemed that making slow and careful movements was the best way to get out of this. Was there something about her face that was tripping him up? She didn't care as long as it made him hesitate just a few moments longer.

Her fingers were working on the slacked chain, unwinding the digging links wrapped around her wrist where it was currently hidden between their bodies. She kept her eyes on his own haunting, bloody ones the whole time, convinced that if she broke eye contact she was doomed. A wave of relief washed over her as she felt the chain unwind from her wrist and blood instantly rushed back into the slightly numb fingers of that hand. She flexed it a few times, holding his chain in the other, then met his face with a triumphant smile.

For a moment it looked like she might say some wise-crack, some smack talk, but when she opened her mouth it was nothing of the sort. "Guiding Light, Magnified!" came the cry, and her two free hands rose quickly from between her holding the dual balls of glowing light. At such close range it was much less like throwing them and a lot more like simply shoving them into his face with a small flick of her wrist - regardless, it was still going to feel like two large fists punching him square in the head.

It was the smile that broke the spell.

No sooner did the girl smile, that Rhodizite blinked and somehow sparked his brain back into the 'here and now'. His features changed from mild confusion, right back into anger; if anything, he looked absolutely livid that she was daring to smile up into his face.

He had little time to ponder this, because she soon enough opened her mouth, the words making him freeze in place. He was way too near; in fact, he was actually still gripping her shoulder. Despite moving as fast as he could, trying to raise the arm he'd been using to balance himself against her, there was little he could do to ward off the effect of the magic.

It both blinded him and hit him square in the face, sending him reeling back; this time, the chain was no longer tied around the girl's wrist, so there was nothing to stop his movement. He stumbled back, having difficulty seeing due to both the flash and the fact his face really god damned hurt, which meant he was keeping his eyes closed. He'd lifted an arm to ward his face off from any further attack, but the movement did not help, because when he tripped, his footing not entirely stable, he found himself falling backwards.

Which wouldn't have been so bad if... there hadn't been a tree waiting to stop his fall, right behind him. As it was, when he fell, Rhodizite hit the back of his skull harshly against the trunk of the tree, leaving him more than slightly dazed.

He wasn't entirely unconscious... but he wouldn't be moving any time soon, and when he did, it would be likely he'd probably be stumbling. At any rate, it didn't look like he was an immediate threat any longer.

She could have run, she probably should have, instead of waiting and pushing her luck to see what would happen. Instead she stopped and watched as her attack sent him stumbling backward, her face hard and eyes narrowed. She saw what was going to happen as soon as he began to fall backwards - she saw his head as it made a path for the trunk of the tree. Just as it was about to connect, she flinched and squinted her eyes shut - she never actually saw his head hit, but she heard the harsh thud from it. She slowly opened her eyes and relaxed from her flinch, sparing only a moment to glance over his unconscious form.

It was hard to feel pity for him.

Instead she turned away and walked over to the unconscious civilian where he was laying on the ground, her mouth pursed a little and her eyes narrowing on him. She didn't know if Rhodizite back there was telling the truth and she didn't want to find out - it wasn't up to her to judge people. It would weigh on her soul if she left this guy here and he didn't wake up before that creep did. So, she nudged him with the toe of her shoe until she heard a groan from his lips.

"Wake up," she said sharply, continuing to prod him in the ribs, "get up and go home before you regret laying around in the middle of a dark park at night." It took only a few minutes more before the guy to get up, wild-eyed and scared to death, and stumble off down the park path. If he even remembered that Rhodizite attacked him she couldn't say - as far as she knew, he might go home and talk about the Senshi that had attacked him in the park.

With a sigh at that thought, and one last glance behind her, she turned swiftly on her heel and headed for home. She was done with patrolling tonight.
