So here's what we have to work with so far: Quote: Boy of light meets girl or dark (or vice versa). The two meet over the boy trying to sell his mother's pottery to her at their kindom's borders. They decide right away that they don't like each other. Since the boy came alone while the girl brought many guards, the boy tries to make a run for it. Much to his dismay, he accidently breaks a guard's nose, a horse's leg and a ancient piece of pottery. Here's what I had to add to the idea: Quote: I think for our purposes we'd be able to continue the story from this point on. To add on to this description, Pieprsn's idea was to have the boy to be crude, mouthy and insulting. I don't know where we'd start on this story, but I also know that the guy's captured and brought to the palace where it's up to the king (the girl's dad) to decide on sentence. Which will most likely be death since he insults the king and his country. Since he's captured we'd also have to keep in mind his own country trying to look for him. So basically we have to set up our setting, finalise the character's descriptions and such before we begin. Actually, let's set up a deadline so we don't think we have time to slack off wink Deadline is June 5th. By then hopefully we have enough information to go on. If not, well hopefully our imaginations will carry us through sweatdrop

D: Does she mean me? ._.''
Hurrah! My idea got chosen! Time for a victory lap!
Also, I'd also like to add that it was my idea to make the girl a total wimp and pushover, so she would be a complete wimp living in a world full of tough guys, and vise versia for the boy. It's just what I had in mind though, and we can change it all we want to make the story more interesting.
So, for character designs, we ought to have physical appearences that reflect the characters themselves. Any ideas?
(I feel like I'm the one coming up with all of this, and it's making me feel guilty xDDD)

Untitled by Simple Plan I gots one biggrin .. for the girl.
1) glasses, curly hair (....maybe not, that's really hard to draw D smile or pigtails/something like that, worn out/not the right sizes (too big, out of proportion, crooked (if its too big), etc.) clothes, and maybe old shoes (I personally dislike drawing tennis shoes..)
2) Leggings/none/jeans (with no shorts/skirt), a skirt thing/shortshorts, a t-shirt, or a long-sleeved shirt with a camisole, or just a tank top. Flip flops, and maybe some makeup/jewelry of somekind
..I wanna draw this out now.
Edit: I forgot to ask: By 'mouthy', do you mean 'swears a lot', or 'boasty'?We're stop motion animated Our colors blurred and lines faded And now we see only black and white Come on gotta get through the night

For the characters' designs, do we want 'em to look all Godly or more down-to-earth? The 'Kingdoms of Light and Dark' thing makes me think crazy-sparkly-omg-lookit-that clothes/designs but, while it'd look really cool, it could be hard to draw. *all for complecated designs*
And is the boy royality too?

Well, they are royalty. When I think of princesses and kingdoms, my mind goes to medieval stuff. Should we adhere to period clothing, or just go with something else? I was thinking, once we've established the characters' personalities more, anybody who wants can sketch their design idea and we'll just choose whose we like the best. I have some ideas, but I'm sure I'm not the only one. :3 Choosing one that everybody likes and can draw shouldn't be too tough.
Oh, and I really don't want the girl character to be wimpy, c'mon. Withdrawn or inept, maybe. But no wimp girls plz.

Well how about instead of wimpy overly-kind? I don't know, I usually have very strong female leads, but I thought it would be fun to have opposite personalities.
When I think of royalty, what comes to mind for me is also medieval times. Maybe I'm just a huge fantasy nerd, but still, I think we should establish a time period. I personally vote for medieval ('cause I'm a nerd like that xDDD).
I also think it would be fun if we all drew out our ideas for character design and voted between us. The only issue is that it might not be fair for the lesser artists.
As for Godly or down to earth, I really can't say. The boy is a prince, true, but he sneaks out to sell his pottery in secret, and is later forced into servitude, so I suppose he would be dressed very plain for the most part of the story, while dressed extravagantly for the part when he's back in his home land and assuming the role of a prince?
Also, just as a heads up, I'm going to be gone for a week. :l

Amy the Pioneer of Iria Because I can't find it anywhere else, what style is the comic going to be in? Manga? Or something else?I think that's all up to the artist. You can draw the pages however you want, just be sure to draw them from left to right since this will be in English. :3

I'd rather not have a wimpy girl, nor an overly-kind girl. I actually prefer a strong female character.
So, here's my suggestion :: The girl is very strong-willed and once she sets a goal she always goes full out. But, her kingdom expects her to be the kind of princess she detests :: One that follows all the rules, one who follows others lead and never disobeys. Her mother, the queen has been very sick and is on her death bed. Her last request to her daughter is for her to be the kind of princess she hates. So the princess acts like the "perfect" princess in front of the kings and the advisers. But whenever she gets the chance, she goes to her hideaway and plots out ways to change things in her kingdom for the better.
The boy ::
The boy/prince is selling pottery because the kingdom he's in is very poor, though they put a strong facade on to prevent commoners from knowing. He is caught by the princess' kingdom and is given the death sentence. While he can be insulting, and crude, he does know how to behave like royalty. He just prefers not to.
--
The princess visits him to see for herself what to see what the prisoner who has been given the death sentence is like. She asks him about his reasons, and he just glares and throws insults at her. She comes back to visit him every day to inquire about his reasons. Eventually he lightens up a bit, and tells her. She understands his reasons, and goes to her father to ask for a lighter sentence. Her father doesn't like that she's rising up against him, and tells her to forget about it. She, of course, cannot forget about it so she creates a plan to get him out of the prison. She gives up her title, and escapes with the boy....
--
I could go on and on with this idea... So I'll stop there and see what you guys think.

Pieprsn2 the avenger I also think it would be fun if we all drew out our ideas for character design and voted between us. The only issue is that it might not be fair for the lesser artists. That would be a neat idea. && To be fair to all the artists, we could have everyone write a description of the character design too.

...I agree with everything Ichigo has said. Great ideas are great. ninja
I'll probably start doodling tomorrow. So a drawing as well as a written description? Simple enough.
As for the style thing, I love variety. I can't wait to see how everybody interprets the characters in their own style.

Lots of text >.>
So when i hear 'light' and 'dark' in refference to people, it brings a few things to mind such as;
appearance personality ceature of light/some...random creature of darkness generally...demon humans how they live how they talk/voices
With that being said, even though light/dark themes have been done alot there's still a wide range of things we can do with it. ( I >.> personally love the light/dark idea hur hur). Now dark/light themes don't 'have' to be demon/human related ( some humans are pretty damn..'dark' : | ) it could also describe their life styles. For example that one episode of avatar: the last air beneder where the two different tribes who are at odds with each other have to travel through a large cannon together. One tribe look so neat and pristine while the other was very messy and rugged. We could possibly use something like that for our base of the comic and characters.
So for setting, I personally feel it might be best to have the entire thing on a world we all have created. This opens up a whole crap load of space for everyone ( no matter what their skill level is like) to have some input in this comic and if we make a new world we won't have to worry about knowing any sort of area that already exsists ( like comic's centered around a well known city). Also this would make the characters ( how they are built, what they do, how they exsist) limited only by our imgination. Finally, in a new world the time frame wouldn't have to be based off our time frame. (I mean that if we want to say that the year in the comic is 2010 it doesn't have look like the year 2010 that we live in...i fail at explaining things >.< ) So that takes away the time barrier and with that being said if the boy is selling pottery to earn money for his poor kingdom, the comic should not be to far along in technology but there could still be 'something' there.
Alright now to the characters. Keep in mind a few of the other ideas. The princess can be very strong-willed and outgoing while keeping the appearance of a beautiful dainty little lady. Just because you are headstrong doens't mean you can't be pristine ;o. On the otherhand the prince could have messy bedhead wear loose-fitting-low-quality-fabric-having-clothes. He can also be....a jerk ( for lack of abetter word >.> ) to just about anyone. This would include that idea where the two were rivals. Two different kingdoms, two hot-heads, two 'like' personalities. It often makes for on hell of a romance AND comedy ( see what i did thar >.> )lots and lots of awkward "he did not just do that" moments.
--------------------------------------------------------------------- *For story purposes the princess witll be reffered to as A and the prince will be B.
Playing off some of the ideas already stated I got this...
The perfectly pristine princess A ( the light half ) is on her way to the messy, rugged prince B's kingdom as a rep. for proposing a treaty that will bring more money/business into both kingdoms. On the way to B's kingdom, A is stopped by a handsome boy trying to sell his porly pottery at very high prices. The boy is very persistant but the princess turns her nose up at it and reffers to it as cheap crap. The pottery boy( who is actually our hot tempered prince) is offened by this and tells her that she couldn't do much better ( or says something really...witty). The princess fumes at this and declairs that she's the best potter/crafter in her kingdom ( even though it's really only so/so but no one would ever tell her that). The prince is veru smug with her and denies her claim unless she can prove it to him. Still fuming the princess tells her guards to deliver her message to B's kingdom ( remember she doesn't know the pottery boy is actually the prince yet) while she stays behind a little longer to prove herself to the little pheasent. Reluctantly, all but one guard goes ahead. The remaining guard is her personal guard and old friend.
To wrap this up... B mocks the princess quite a bit before they actually 'do' anything. Then, they leave to go dig for fresh clay to use for their challenge, but the area where B usually gets the clay has been picked dry by 'something/someone'. The ground beneath them gives way and they fall into a cavern that leads to an old underground city that used to be B and A's kingdom long long ago. ( The kingdoms were one but a civil war split them). So, A's father thinks B's kingdom is holding her hostage ( once word gets back to him that she never showed up and that B is missing too) and he threatens to kill the boy should his daughter ( which he thinks is al dainty and fragile >.> over protective daddy) be hurt in anyway.
>_< okay i'm done...i'm sorry it's so long. I got carried away. ;=; and i'm sorry for typos....i lost my glasses and i can't see my key's very well lol (going off memory)
