So, I wouldn't exactly call myself a fashunista, at least not yet. Which is why I joined this guild. To learn from you fashun experts and hopefully someday create awesome avatars.
So, I implore thee, share with me your knowledge of Gaia fashun. Whatever tips, tricks, advice, or any other bits of knowledge you would like to lend this aspiring fashunista would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm, -thinks-
The only real advice I can give is:
1. Go with things you like and find your style (if you have one). If you go into tektek or your dressing room uninspired you will probably have a tough time creating a good avatar.
2. If you are making a matching avatar try your best to match the shade of the color as well. Take blue for example. There are a lot of dark blues but there are many shades of dark blue.
3. Practice. Practice never hurts, well at least when we are talking about tektek's and fashun.
4. Take your time. Almost all good tekteks/avatars take time. I have spent 1+ hours on tektek just to come out with one avatar I was happy with.
5. Ask for critique. Most members here have different types of avatars that they like. Make a thread and ask other members to critique your creations. Each person that answers the thread will probably have different advice which will give you a variety of different outcomes. Just remember that they will most likely (about 90%+) of the time have different advice for each avatar they critique, even if it is by the same person.
6. You ARE a Fashunista! If you are in this guild you are indeed already a Fashunista, even if it is a Fashunista in training wink

Here is my tip:
Even the smallest detail can make your avatar.
People might not notice the little detail, but it can still work wonderfully and they'll think "Wow!"
So deny those who say "IT'S ONLY TWO PIXELS WHY WOULD YOU PUT THAT"
b***h slap them and say "Because they make this avatar good mad "
Another tip is to play around with actual Gaia layering. 8D

Seriously though sweatdrop What makes a 'good' avatar is entirely subjective. The styles that you like may not be what we like, what we say is 'good' may look like poo to you. Just find something that makes you happy and run with it x3

Like Daypaw said use unique color combos. Use the items' shade and texture at its best potential.
