Sihiri:
Sihiri crawled through the underbrush on the edge of the jungle that was her family's home, on the search for flowers and small plants, a pouch she'd found hanging around her neck. She was off collecting herbs for her momma as well as some things to make her own little experiments and potions. She was getting better at it, but finding it more and more difficult to test her experiments. At first, when she was just messing with her momma's numbing and sleeping potions, so it wasn't so bad to catch a mouse or something small to test it on. But then she accidentally made something that the subject didn't wake up from, so she was doing her best to be more careful.
Her bronze fur stood out against the green, but not so much against the lighter grasses of the savanna. But her mane and tail-tuft couldn't be helped at all.
Angusho:
Angusho knew he was getting closer now- he had to be. His son's scent was all over the area. It was good to know, too, as he was getting tired fighting all the fools who meant nothing to him. Animals that only served to fuel his anger while they also failed to defeat him in battle. For the... most part, anyway. His recent string of victories allowed him some comfort in thinking he might actually be able to kill his son. After all, the boy had run away with his tail between his legs when he was young. Obviously he didn't have any of his father's power in him.
Shouldn't be too hard to kill a cowardly lion.
The large male moved slowly towards the forest, keeping his eyes ahead of him as he stalked into the brush. There was something nearby, he could smell it. His son, perhaps. As he moved forward, he came to see that is wasn't the son he was so eagerly hunting, but a small cub with a similar scent to his. Watchign the small thing poking around the roots and weeds, Angusho let out a low growl.
"What do we have here? A lonely little cub. Tell me, little one, are your parents around? You shouldn't be out all on your own."
Sihiri:
Sihiri jumped at the sound of a rough growl. Quite literally in fact. Her paws left the ground and she ended up a step farther away from the lion than she had been when he first spoke. Her eyes widened and a small smile came to her face in an attempt to be friendly.
"Ah, hi there..." she murmured and took another step back. The big lion looked... familiar. He kind of reminded her of her pappa. He smelled kinda like her pappa and was big and black, only older. And with no green.
And much more scary.
"My mamma and pappa are always close by, or one of my big siblings." Well, most of the time, anyways. But her mamma had taught her to tell strangers that even if it wasn't true. She took another step back as she studied the big lion's eyes. They kinda looked the same color as her pappa's and Mamba's.
Angusho:
Angusho watched the small child. She smelled so much like the boy he was searching for, yet looked so different. Was it possible his son had done and found a mate? Some bright colored, happy-go-lucky thing? Though he didn't know his son that well, he found it wouldn't be surprising if it came out true. The boy had probably sought to find something completely different from the life he had once known.
Tch. More reason to destroy him. Knowing he had a family only meant more bodies to add to the stack.
"Oh? I see. Is your father's name Jeraha, by any chance?" The male asked, sitting himself down. He was trying to make himself look a nice as possible, but it was a rather difficult task for him. Mostly he just liked to snarl and kill things. Talking to cubs was not one of his better talents.
"You don't have to look so frightened, little one. I think we might be related." He offered her a smile, his yellowing teeth glinting in the sun.
Sihiri:
The young female gave him a suspicious look. She may be sweet, she may be innocent, but Sihiri was smart and very clever.
"My pappa is named Jeraha. How're we related?" she asked, pausing in her steps but ready to run to the nearest tree. She wasn't very good at climbing, at least not as so much as her mother or some of her older siblings, but she knew how to get into trees and crawl through them. Which, according to her mamma, should get her out of reach from most normal creatures, other than leopards.
"An' I'm not frightened, I'm just wary," she added, squaring her shoulders a bit with a nod. "Mamma says you can't be too careful around strangers."
Angusho:
"Jeraha is my son," explained the male, "so I suppose that would make you my grand daughter." He chuckled at the thought. So this young thing was his son's child? And apparently not the only one, either. No wonder he had been able to smell his son's scent all over the place: he had made this place more than just a home for himself. Good. Let him have a family and friends.
This was turning into something much more enjoyable than he could have imagined.
Without another moment wasted, Angusho jolted forward, using one massive paw to pin the child to the ground. His claws, though they would have been useful, he didn't let sink into the creature's fur, keeping her uninjured. How long she would stay that way, of course, depended on his mood. "Now," he hummed, "there's something I want from you, my little one."
Sihiri:
Pappa's father? It made sense, but there was something wrong about this. Something important she had forgotten, a story she hadn't been supposed to hear.
Of how her pappa had gotten his scars.
Sihiri didn't see the paw coming until it was too late to move away. She cried out and struggled, spilling some of the contents from her bag. A rock she thought was pretty, a couple of small white flowers, and a leaf that was wrapped around one of her concoctions, one that caused numbness.
"Lemme go! What d'you want?" she gasped as she continued to struggle against the paw. If she could get to the pasty substance and scratch the big lion hard enough... Well, it would do much, that she knew of. And it would probably make him more mad and he might hurt her. If he wasn't already going to hurt her. She was stuck for the moment.
Angusho:
The male watched her, grinning faintly. This cub didn't look too much like his son, true enough, but she certainly seemed to have his habits. Collecting strange things had been something the irritating boy had done as well, for the short while he had known the other. Perhaps he was passing on his weaknesses to his offspring.
"now now, don't wiggle," the male growled lowly, oblivious to the plots running around in her head, "if you wiggle, I may have to use my claws to keep you against the ground, and I would really rather not get your filthy blood all over them."
Keeping just enough weight to keep her pinned without cutting off her ability to breathe, the male looked around them, frowning thoughtfully. His eyes still peering through the trees, he spoke again. "Your father. I'm going to find him, you know. And I think I would like you to run along and let him know he's going to have a visitor soon. Do you think you can handle that?"
Sihiri:
Sihiri growled faintly but stop struggling... for the most part anyways. She wiggled once more until she got a paw on her packet and looked up at her grandfather through wide blue eyes. Her blood wasn't filthy. Well, maybe it was because it was part his, but the blood she got from her mamma was very good. And her pappa was a good lion, too, so he had to have good blood.
She decided her grandfather was a filthy liar.
"I'll tell my pappa I saw you," she confirmed, forming a sharp jibe in her mind that she would only dare utter when she was out of reach. Her older sister was such a naughty thing, teaching the three little girls words that made their mother groan in mild frustration as she shook her head.
Angusho:
Angusho chuckled. "That's a good little cub," the male hummed, "I can see that your dear father taught you how to be behave around adults. I suppose that's better than nothing." He wondered which would be more effective: this cub running back to Jeraha to tell him about their meeting, or for his boy to find the body of his dead daughter.
There was no need to rush things. He would start to have more fun soon enough. Maybe find out how many kids were around and what the mother looked like first.
Yes, killing his mate would be the proper way to kick things off.
Lifting his paw up, he let the girl go, though not before making a quick swipe at her with his claw, scratching her on her tummy. Enough to bleed, though probably not enough to leave behind any scars as she grew.
cajanic came back
Sihiri:
As soon as she was free, pain or no, she grabbed the pouch, stuffed it into her bag and was away, running into the forest as fast as her paws could take her. She growled in strain as she leaped into the nearest tree and scrambled up to branches higher than the older lion's reach. It was the first thing her mamma taught her and her sisters when they were old enough. Only once she was safe in the tree did she turn around and face him again.
"My mamma taught me my manners. And my pappa's gonna kick your a** if you try to hurt us," she hissed, giving her grandfather a sneer that ran in the family, baring her teeth at him. The look lost most of its ferocity due to her stature, but she put as much effort into it as she could.
Angusho:
The male moved himself closer to a tree, sitting down at the base of it. His green eyes followed the trunk, his gaze coming to rest on the female once more. Cute little thing, really. It made him want to kill her all the more. While he was sitting there, he offered a chuckle in return to her comments.
"You don't know anything," he chuckled lightly, "you might think your father is strong, but he's nothing compared to me. You're going to watch your father die. Unless, of course, I decide to let him watch you die instead. Which would you prefer? To die before, or after, your old male?"
He wasn't fit enough to climb up into the tree after her, as much as he maybe wanted to, so he just watched her, resting his chin against the trunk as he stared at her.
Sihiri:
Sihiri's eyes widened a fraction at the certainty behind the words, a bit of doubt sneaking into her mind. Her pappa could beat this guy, right? He wasn't going to let her or her sisters or Mamma get hurt, right?
Yeah, Pappa could and would protect their family. She had nothing to worry about from this lion. Her eyes narrowed again and she fled into the forest, carefully taking one tree at a time, finding the branches that could support her and bridged from one tree to another, heading back home as quickly and round-aboutly as she could to make sure the scary lion didn't follow her.
