So at this boardwalk during the summer, there is going to be a massive two day metalfest that's free and open to the public. Not only that some fo the best local thrash bands in the area are going to be playing and this got me thinking.....
The boardwalk is mainly a hippie and pothead hang-out, so.....????? I'm not complaining, because I'm going for the day. If a band sucks, I'll just go swimming until they are done.
I mean, I'm totally stoked but....what were they thinking? Metalfest....open to the public, waterfront boardwalk, families, hippies, AMAZING FRENCH FRIES, strange? Yes. Am I excited? You have no idea.

Or Thrasher hippies?
But anyways, they used to have free Metal concerts at the waterfront where I live featuring all local bands. However, they decided they wanted to turn my town into even more of a tourist town then it already was. So now, its "too much of a liability" for them to help out the local Metal scene. Those shows were great, I'm sure it'll be a blast for you. 3nodding

No venue, just outside, and yes it's free.
I mean, I'm stoked as all get out, I just can't believe people wouldn't complain.

Perhaps it's some good marketing? People don't complain because they realize it's a big thing?

Hey who cares, a day at the waterfront. Awesome thrash. Good food. Nate's going with me. I'm going to try and find more people to go with us, but it will probably just be me and him.

I'm not familiar with the logistics behind a concert like this, but I'm guessing they had to pay the city some sort of fee to hold the concert. Or to whoever owns the boardwalk.

Or to whoever owns the boardwalk. In my town the only thing the bands had to do was pay a small fee to rent the stage, that was about it. At least the last year they had it that was all. However, normally at the shows we have to pay for a police officer to stay, I can't remember if one had to be present at those shows....

Woah, this sounds pretty damn awesome! I hope you have/had fun, Hollow! biggrin I don't think we have stuff like that here, but most of the festivals (that aren't free though) are held in the middle of towns or on nearby fields, so passers-by can chill outside the festival area and still listen to the music without paying. They don't get to actually see the bands, but that doesn't bother some people.
