Libitina hated her life in Westfall. She hated everything about it. She hated the Maman, she hated the royals, and she hated all of those stuck-up, tight-a** dragons that really thought that others should be judged by their pelt color, which was, of course, something that could not be controlled! Most of all, Libitina hated Tyrande. She hated the Maman heir with all of her heart because the princess disliked her mother. And another thing: Libitina hated how her mother talked of death all of the time. She loved her mother, but death was not exactly a happy subject! It was because of Muerta's constant "death talk" that Libitina found time to get away from the pack for a while and sit by herself in a lonely corner of the pack camp, brooding on what she disliked the most. Despite all that Libitina hated about Westfall, she doubted that she could ever leave. Her mother was a huntress for the pack, her two siblings were here alongside her, and, perhaps the most important of all, she had been accepted as an apprentice training to be the pack's healer. She knew that the job of healer was a great responsibility and she had much to learn, but it was a honored position and if she surpassed expectation, she would get the admiration and respect she deserved, and damn if she didn't truly deserve it. Libitina sat in silence in her lowly little corner as she thought about her success and how she would rub it in those stuck-up "bright pelt" dragons' faces.

Thanatos seemed to have a lot of disadvantages in Westfall. First of all, he was a male which pretty much made him a second class member. His father, who he knew nothing of, was an outsider, which wasn't exactly thought highly of amongst the pack. And even though he had the "lightest" coat of the three children, he seemed to be surrounded by dark dragons; his sisters, mother, the male she had chosen to be her "mate", the only nanny the pack had...even his teacher, of sorts, was a black-pelted female. He didn't seem to have many opportunities in this pack but that fact didn't weight too heavily on Thanatos's mind. He and his siblings had one thing that gave them at least a slight advantage; Phoebe. The princess was their mother's true mate and while she wasn't the chosen successor of the pack, she seemed intent on making sure they were all respected by everyone in the pack.
There were also the teachings of Kunoichi. She had taught him to take things in stride and accept them as they came, he had developed a go-with-the-flow sort of a attitude. And with all of Muerta's talk about death this had become even more of a blessing than he had thought it would be. Unlike his middle sister, he wasn't put off by his mother's favorite subject and even joined in the conversation from time to time. Now that he was nearing adulthood, his mind was considering this fact, among others, to help him decide in exactly what he wanted to do with the pack. A hunter seemed to be the best choice, considering his comfort with death as well as some combat skills he had picked up from Kunoichi. But that was another thing that made him question his choice. He admired the guard and a part of him wished to follow in her footsteps and take on the same job as her.
There was too much to consider on this matter and he was quite certain he couldn't come to a decision on his own. And so, he set about trying to find the other members of his family, namely his sisters, to help him come to a conclusion. He had searched the more populated areas of the pack grounds, or those he was allowed to search at least, and was now sifting through the more empty parts. Finally, he spotted the youngest of his sisters, though she seemed a bit off from her usual self. Quietly, he made his way towards her and sat at her side, "What's on your mind, Libi?"((Had to type a bit to lay down the base for him... XD;;;.))

Mercedes was friggin' loving life.
She took a sick pleasure in making the light pelts squirm by sitting too close to them at meal time or making passes at some of the ladies. Sometimes she pondered when it would all backfire on her, but those thoughts were few and far between.
The only time she really became pleasant was around her family and her sister, expecially. Mercedes picked up on her sister's emotions like they were her own, taking appropriate action to cheer her up in just the right ways when she was able. Though, as time went on, it became harder and harder because they weren't together as often. Hunting was so much fun, so why didn't Libitina pick it instead of healing? Like the lights were going to let her in.
She hopped from boulder to boulder across the great river to one of the more obscure areas of the bowl. In what had started out as a simple day of exploration because something of a scavenger hunt when she smelt her brother. It surprised her to find both siblings together. "I know that face," she grinned, stepping up beside Thanatos to look at Libi. "Whats going on in that head of yours?"

Libitina raised her head in surprise when her brother joined her. He was of... a lighter pelt than her and their sister, but he was definitely more tolerable than the rulers of the pack. She smiled as he sat down beside her and sighed somewhat heavily. "Oh, the usual. Just thinking about the bright pelts being total asses and such. Nothing too out of the ordinary." Libi stared out into the distance. "Hey, Than? Do you think that it's... normal... for Mom to talk about death all of the time? I mean, it's kind of creepy, isn't it?"
As she spoke, she heard footsteps coming towards hers and Thanatos' direction. She did a double take in that direction and was relieved to see her sister, Mercedes, bounding towards them. Libi grinned. Mercedes could always tell what she was thinking and always could cheer her up. "Eh... I'm just pissed off at the bright pelts, you know? Why do they have to undermine us for something we can't control?"

Curling his tail around himself, Thanatos listened to his sister's distaste for the way dark pelts were treated with an ever open mind. He understood the way his family felt about the whole situation, though he may not have felt the same way. Those rules were established in the pack a long time ago and the belief that dark dragons were lesser was something that was practically bred into many of them. He didn't expect them to just throw away their traditions and beliefs so easily. Nor did he expect those on the losing end of these traditions to accept it willingly. But he knew better than to speak his mind on this matter. Libi was set in her opinions of the lighter dragons and it wasn't his place to try and convince her otherwise. Instead, he settled on trying to answer her question about their mother, "I don't think so. Death's just as important as life. You can't get most dragons to shut up when there's new life in the pack. Why should we be so quiet about death?"
Before he could begin spewing some of the things Kunoichi had told him about the necessity of balance in the universe Mercedes showed up. He turned to their eldest sibling and smiled, "Hey, Mercedes."

She bumped up against Thanatos affectionately before sitting down next to her younger siblings. The whole while she'd been rolling her eyes and sneering. "Oh, them. Their so damn cocky, just because they sparkle in the sun like a shiny rock." Mercedes flashed her forepaws dramatically to accent the point. "But you know what? At least we can hunt better than they can. Those bright pelts stick out like sore thumbs."
Now that she was riled up, it would take a meteor to pull her off the soapbox. Mercedes growled irritably, thawping her tail against the ground. "Maybe if momma M. had picked a brighter male to be our dad, we wouldn't be in this mess. Look at us? He had to have been pretty dark." She'd thought about it a couple times in the past, but always assumed he wasn't worth bringing into the pack, so her mother had chosen Phoebe and Weland instead.

Libitina chuckled at her sister's ranting. She could get pretty riled up at times when she was passionate about something. This seemed to be one of those times. "Yeah, we do hunt better than the bright pelts. I mean, look at Mother! She's probably the best huntress in the whole pack and she's a dark pelt!" She smiled to herself. That would certainly be something if Muerta was recognized as the greatest huntress of all of Westfall. That'd show those uppity half-wits.
Libi looked back at her brother. "I... suppose. But still. Some may not want to hear about death all the time, and some want to live their lives to the fullest without worrying about death. And besides that, in a way, death surrounds us all. Anything can kill you... Diseases, nature, other dragons and animals... Some don't like thinking about that stuff." As she spoke, she looked away from her siblings. She knew that what she said was true for her, too. She was always squeamish around sick and dead things, but she wanted to change that by being a healer. Death was something she could not afford as a healer for an entire pack.
She was jerked out of her thoughts by Mercedes and her talking of their father. Libi grimaced slightly. She had always wondered who their real father was. Weland was a good father, of course, but he wasn't their father. Whenever she spoke to Muerta about it, the huntress would get quiet and not say anything. Once, Libi remembered, she badgered Muerta so much that she said that the three of them were "wonderfully happy mistakes." This concept that the siblings were "mistakes" stayed in Libitina's mind. She looked at Mercedes. "Well... what if Mother didn't choose to have us? I mean, I think she said once that our father was a rouge, so..." Libi trailed off, not wanting to say anything more on the subject.

Thanatos shook his head at his oldest sister as she went off on her little ramble about the bright pelts. Even though he never felt the same way the two of them did towards the more desirable members of the pack, he was always a bit amused when Mercedes started one of her rants. She could get quite animated and it was like watching a one man performance if you could get her riled up enough. At times he wished he had as fiery a spirit as she did, that he could find something to be so passionate about. But maybe he was just a bit slower than his sisters in figuring things out. He was sure he would find the things he was looking for eventually, there wasn't any reason to fret over something he couldn't completely control.
His attention slid back to Libi as their sister's little speech came to a close. Even though he hadn't spent much time with his siblings, it was pretty obvious to him that Libi wasn't very comfortable with death, which was completely understandable. Most dragons weren't. Instead of trying to impose on her the beliefs that had become his own from spending so much time with Kunoichi, he tried his best to put her concerns to rest, "Well, if you can ignore all the possible threats to your life that surround you, why not just ignore mom too?" As if to further put this subject out of her mind he grinned and nudged her playfully with his shoulder.
And back to Mercedes he went, watching her as Libi voiced her view of their creation and their father, "I don't know, Mercedes. I'm....well, I'm not that dark. And Libi's only half dark. Maybe mom's dark color is just dominant over whatever color our father's was." He didn't really want to acknowledge Libi's comment about them possibly being mistakes. For his whole accept-things-for-what-they-are attitude, that was something he didn't want to accept. Sure, even if they were mistakes Muerta was still happy to have them, but...he just didn't like the idea of not being created on purpose.

Mercedes kept innocently quiet as she listened to her siblings, biting her tongue from saying something completely stupid. She had a sick fascination with death that bordered on the insane, one that tempted her to try and revived them from time to time. It had been a fun game as a child when she found dead birds, but now....
But wouldn't it be wonderful, if Libi never had to worry? Anyone who died could just be brought back. How wonderful.
She shifted, flopping her tail to the side. "I'm sure she didn't choose us, and that dominant trait thing might be true, but it's just...I don't know." Mercedes had a hard time accepting Weland into her life, after such a long time without a father. Maybe it would have been easier had he looked like them, but something about him rubbed her the wrong way.

Libitina grimaced a bit at her brother. Death was certainly unavoidable, that much she knew from her mother. Death would always come, life is temporary, blah blah blah. It would be difficult to ignore death completely, especially now that she was a healer. Death would be all around her, and it would be her job to stop it. Well, not stop it, but slow it down, at least. Ignoring it would be nigh on impossible. Then again... It would be even harder to ignore Mother...
Libi looked to Thanatos. "Don't you think that'd be really hard, ignoring Mom, I mean? How would she take that? And besides, if we ignored Mom, Phoebe might flip a b***h and chew us out for it." Libi's miniature rant got her thinking again, this time about Phoebe. The princess was, in a way, a blessing and a curse. Libi respected her mother's love for the princess and Libi herself had grown to care for the female. Yet, she was a light pelt, and Muerta was a dark pelt. Their bond was very much frowned upon, considering the two were bonded while Muerta was pregnant with her and her siblings. [Libi enjoyed at least one tale of Muerta's: when the love between her and Phoebe was revealed at the female's outing. Libi loved to imagine the look on Tyrande's face when the truth was revealed.]
Her train of thought was lost when Than and Mercedes spoke again. She nodded to her brother. "That's what I think. Maybe our real father was a light pelt, or at least a lighter pelt. Mom certainly won't tell us..." Libi trailed off again. All of this drama in their family and in the pack was overwhelming.

"I guess you're right...Mom might take it a bit personally if you did ignore her. And we definitely don't want Phoebe giving us a hard time." He gave a sheepish grin, just a bit amused at the thought of the princess blowing a gasket. Phoebe really did love them, in spite of all the things that "tainted" them, and while they never really said it, Thanatos was quite certain that his siblings and himself felt the same about her. However, she loved Muerta more and she'd certainly kick their asses if they did anything to upset their mother. Shaking his head, Than just smiled and returned to his sister's problem. There was on real solution he could come up with for her the best he could do was offer some cliche, supportive words, "I'm sure you'll find some way to deal with this, Libi. It just might take some time."
He was sure his method of handling problematic situations was much too slow for his sister, both of them probably. He really wasn't anything like either of them. They both always seemed to be fired up and ready to get something started, Mercedes more so than Libi, but he took everything at such a slower pace than them. Than couldn't help but wonder if that was something he picked up from their father, since Muerta wasn't really like that either. The mystery of their father was so frustrating and tantalizing at the same time. Than wished Muerta would give them at least some clue as to who he was; coat color, name, breed...just something!
