I didn't think of it before when playing EoSD, but when I play Imperishable Night, she is kind of .... a b***h lol.
I mean if you play through with her, you can see what I mean.

Well I've always thought she was more along the lines of grumpy & lazy than a bitchy person personally at least when it comes to more recent incarnations of Reimu.
Her attitude seems to me to be along the lines of "I really don't want to be doing this right now, what a pain..."
Such as with Subterranean Animism having to investigate the underground since Yukari would rather not go down herself, Even better when you have Sukia as a partner and who gets to lounge about in the shrine drinking and sleeping while Reimu does the real work. I mean she did beat the crap out of Okuu due to it pretty much being her job but that didn't stop them from sharing tea at the shrine afterward. rolleyes
I mean she does seem a little more optimistic and easygoing while she's not "on the job" unlike a certain other shrine maiden who collects faith by beating you until you agree to believe. Why else would people still come to her shrine and visit for.
Hell I'm pretty easygoing and I have to say were I in Reimu's shoes I'd rather be relaxing at that shrine than having to go out and solve incidents without rewards. Especially with how often they seem to occur in Gensokyo. eek

Reimu's more of a slacker who doesn't want to take peoples crap somewhat more akin to a "jerkass with a heart of gold" I believe tvtroupes would call it rather than just an all around bitchy person in general.

Well, I consider her rather bitchy when she actually goes to investigate anything... her modus operandi is nothing else than just beating the crap out of anybody she finds in her way and stumbling upon the final cause either out of trial-and-error or out of any hints her "victims" may give her. Loknar I have to say were I in Reimu's shoes I'd rather be relaxing at that shrine than having to go out and solve incidents without rewards. But, solving incidents is a shrine maiden's duty. Reimu should just do her job, period. Sanae might be as unefficient as Reimu, but at least she seems to enjoy doing it.

Of course Reimu is a b***h. For that reason she's one of the few main characters that I actually like almost as much as the villainous characters.

Personally, and considering how she seems to solve the incidents (Part of her shrine maiden duties), I'd say she ain't a slacker at all. She's dutiful. That she doesn't have much to do besides tending to the Hakurei Shrine is another matter entirely xd It's worth mentioning that she's also quite forceful in her job. It *is* Youkai extermination, after all. If you were a human fighting possibly-man-eating monsters, you'd have to talk big and hit big to hand down justice, or else you'd be pushed around by everyone.

Doing justice by keeping the human-youkai balance does not necessarily equal to exterminate as many youkai as you can. Specially considering how the more numerous and advanced youkai species, like the tengu, kappa and oni, are the ones who mess up with the human settlements less.

Reimu is the one reason I always play Marisa. Sometimes I just can't stand her attitude. I'm not saying I expect the cliched hero type of goodie-goodie, it's ok to be a jerk/b***h for a main (Hei from Darker than Black?). But Reimu is just so BLEH! She does pick fights even when some people literally say "I have nothing to do with this incident". Doesn't that just make her a bully?
And Sanae? At least her excuse is no common sense rolleyes

Yes, and she doesn't mess with them unless there's an incident and they hinder her incidentsolvingness. She just doesn't wander into the Youkai mountain for no reason other than beating people up. Youkai "extermination" is not exactly "erradicating" Youkai, but merely putting them in their place when they do things that may threaten the stability of Gensokyo, or when they don't let her solve the incidents that she has to solve as a Shrine Maiden. It's as simple as that.
