Khalla was stretched out on her bed comfortably with her upper body propped up by the score of pillows against her headboard. It wasn't exactly a surprise that she had a book in her hands and seemed to be rather intently reading, though this time it actually looked like this book probably wasn't for class. It was a paperback with a fantasy scene stretching over the cover, and for once she didn't seem to be stressed as she read through it - she was using it to relax. That wasn't a surprise either, given how busy she usually was.
"Do you have a lot of homework to do?" Khalla asked without looking up, addressing the roommate she could still see out of the corner of her eyes. She'd had no luck tracking Amara down yet, mostly because she was never around when Amara left the dorm. Leading two lives that were both packed to the brim with responsibility was really hard. Not to mention, all of this business with Rohan had taken an even bigger chunk of her time away. Part of her felt guilty, but there was nothing to be done. She just had to find a good balance.
She glanced up from her book finally to look at her roommate instead, setting the book face down on her bed and open to the page she had been reading. She wasn't busy once, not in the slightest, but she wasn't sure Amara had the time to do anything with her. She'd like to but she wasn't exactly sure if it was the right time to ask.

"Um," said Amara very articulately, looking rather evasive. She'd actually finished her homework early for once in her life, with no extra work lying around for her to worry over. "I... might have some research to do." That would leave her with an out, an excuse to go off who knew where. Potentially to the Library, though that wouldn't be quite the same thing with Tony missing. ... Still, she could go drive Carol nuts by existing, or admire the furniture that they had put in lately.
Furniture purchased on Amaravati's dollar, no less. "Do you have a lot of homework to do?" she asked, glancing in Khalla's direction. She wasn't entirely sure what Khalla wanted, if anything, but she knew one thing for certain: she definitely did not want her to be wandering about, trying to find out where she was going. It would be all bad for her if Khalla found out who and what she was.
She wanted to ask what her roommate had been up to lately, but the words froze on her tongue. It just... wasn't something they could talk about right now. Not unless Khalla brought it up herself. Things were so complicated anyway, and Khalla was disappearing more and more often. She would have been discouraged if she hadn't been so completely distracted. Between making a certain acquaintance and hunting she'd hardly had time left over for anything beyond homework.

"Oh," Khalla responded, not really expressing her best oratory skills either. She tapped her fingers against the binding of the book laying on the bed next to her, thinking for a moment of what she could do, when Amara spoke again. "Me? Oh, no. I've finished everything that's due this week already." The one good thing about having Rohan around so much was that, well, he made it pretty easy to get homework done. There wasn't much desire to shirk all her responsibilities off when he could find out what she'd been doing in classes.
"I just," she paused, chewing at her lip a little, then shook her head. "No, never mind, we can talk about it later." She smiled in Amara's direction and picked her book back up. "I wouldn't want to keep you from your homework." It even sounded believable since Khalla was the one person in the world that always wanted to get her homework done on time, if not a few days beforehand. Khalla's true motives for letting Amara slide without poking and prodding her for help were a bit less admirable.
Sure, it wasn't exactly nice to spy on people, but if Amara wasn't going to tell her the truth then how else was she supposed to figure out what was going on with her? Khalla was almost positive that somewhere in Amara's hidden life there was a boyfriend.. and that boyfriend was a jerk.

Guiltily, because she hadn't told Khalla the truth, Amara added, "I do have my homework finished. It's just the exams that I need to study for." And wasn't that the truth? At least she wasn't lying. She did have to study for the coming tests, but she had done some of the studying already, and didn't need to spend the entire day doing so. "Have you done all of your revising?" she asked, the question natural enough. Surely Khalla had some of the same exams that she did.
Surely. Or maybe not. It was hard to say, when their schedules were so very different. "What? What is it?" What was it that Khalla wanted from her today? Was it because of what she'd said before, about them not having any time together? Or was there something else? Confused, and a little taken aback, she waited for her roommate to explain, if she ever would explain.
Khalla had said that she had finished everything that was due that week, but she hadn't said everything she meant to say. And it didn't mean she wasn't in Amara's position. ... Theoretical, not literal position, because Amara was making excuses here. There could have been reasons given, but sometimes it was easiest to go with the most simple answer. Explaining would've taken time, and besides... she was sure Khalla would not have approved.

"I've already done a lot of it," she shrugged a little as she said it but it was the truth. Rohan was a big help and Khalla, of all people, wasn't someone to really slack off. Today, though, today was a day for relaxation and freeing her mind of stress. Or trying to at least - she was plagued by a lot of thoughts that she didn't want to have to deal with.
"No, no," she waved her hand at Amara, smiling at her roommate in a way that said everything was perfectly fine, "go study and we can talk about it afterward, alright? It's not that important." It was and it wasn't, all at once. Amara clearly had somewhere to be (a somewhere Khalla intended to follow her to) and to explain the problem she would have to explain weeks of something she hadn't told her about yet. That could take forever.
"Maybe I should just stop reading this book and get back to studying," she sighed and reached over to her nightstand for the discarded bookmark. Placing it between the pages she had stopped on, she shut the book and set it on the nightstand instead. Trying to act cool about it, Khalla slid off the side of her bed and walked over to her desk to boot up her laptap. She waved her hands again at Amara, that same smile still in place. "Really, it's fine. I don't want to bother you about something this small when it can wait. School is always more important." She held up one finger in a matter-of-fact way as she said the last bit, making it all very Khalla-like.

Amaravati Priti was a lot of things, and while a liar might well be one of them when the situation called for it, it was not her norm. Lies did not flow from her tongue as easily as water. They were not her norm. But... even so, she wanted to be out of there. She had somewhere to be, and Khalla was giving her an opening. "All right. I need to head out for now, to get that done," she said, as though it were the most normal thing in the world to go out to study.
But then again, maybe it was. Maybe most people liked to study at the park, for all she knew! "I'll be back later." She got up and retrieved her purse, her hand hovering over her bookbag for a moment before she decided that her purse would suffice for the occasion. She stuffed the netbook that her father had recently purchased for her (with the expectation that her grades would improve) into the purse, her notes contained within it.
More to the point, it was lighter than any of her books actually were. So, she headed out the door, keys jangling in her hand as she debated between walking to the Library and driving. Hmmn. She did need to clear her head a little, and she hadn't had a lot of time to herself. Maybe she'd do some hunting on the way if the mood took her. Maybe. Unlikely, considering where she was headed. She wanted to take a look at the new furniture, and see if it was as good as she had hoped it would be.

Khalla sighed in relief as Amara finally left, not only because she didn't particularly want to take the time to discuss the situation with Rohan at that moment (because it might actually offend Amara for all she knew) but also because it was finally going to give her the chance to do a little bit of snooping.
That usually wasn't Khalla's style, she had to admit, but this was for a greater good! The greater good was Khalla's style. Amara needed her help even if she didn't know how to ask for it, and Khalla knew that abused individuals had a really hard time coming to others about their problems.
So, as soon as the door closed behind Amara, Khalla leaped up from her chair and dashed across the room to her closet. She didn't really have time to change her clothes in case she lost Amara's trail, and it was too warm out for a jacket. The one thing she could do was sport a little headgear to keep Amara from recognizing her face at least. She grabbed the first scarf she saw, a thin floral print, and wrapped it around her head before securing it under her chin. It looked a bit silly, but it hid her face well.
She walked to the door and opened it as quietly as she could, peaking out just in time to see Amara rounding the corner of the hallway further down. She shut the door behind her softly and set a pace to catch up just enough to her roommate so she wouldn't lose her on the trek to.. wherever they were headed.
She just hoped she didn't have to henshin up to get Amara out of some awful mess - she didn't know what this awful boyfriend might be like or what he could be in to.

Having decided on a walk, Amaravati trundled along, limping ever so slightly on her injured ankle, but doing a fairly reasonable job of walking regardless. She'd taken it upon herself to look in on her handiwork before, and she was going to do it again-- even though the Library was out to get her. Evil, evil Library. Whatever. She wasn't some kid to be pushed around by a building like that. Besides, there was no way that it was actually evil, right? Buildings weren't sentient, no matter how much it seemed like that one had to be.
And if they were, maybe she needed to consider a change of address... not that she actually could just move, or anything. She had a whole host of obligations here, none of which could simply be dropped. The Negaverse wasn't something you could ditch, and live. But that all was unimportant, because she wasn't going to be scared away by a building! No, the Library would not win this battle of wills-- and she was officially being overly silly now.
Humming to herself, Amaravati walked down the sidewalk, heading toward that nefarious place, determined to get there before it closed. Granted, she had some time before then, but... well, there were all sorts of distractions along the way, really there were. She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she didn't notice Khalla following her, and probably wouldn't notice her for some time. There were important things on her mind, things that needed to be worked through to their various conclusions.

Khalla followed Amara out of the school and down to the sidewalk, setting a pace behind her that she was sure wouldn't get her noticed. She even looked down a little so she could make sure the scarf wrapped around her head would throw shadows over her face and obscure her features. When tree limbs hung over the sidewalk she made sure to stick to their shadows as well. She probably should have thought twice about it, because in the end it just made her look even more suspicious than the normal passerby.
Following Amara gave her a better view of the girl, however, and even from the distance she was following she could tell that her friend was.. limping? She hadn't noticed when the pair of them were cooped up in the dorm room with little space or reason to walk much. Out here in the big wide world, however, she could see it easily and it made her feel like her reasoning was even more justified. Had this mysterious boyfriend done that too? Inside, Khalla seethed at the man she didn't know, wishing they would just arrive wherever they were going so she could confront him.
That's when Khalla really stopped to notice where Amara was leading her. She walked this path a few times a week, at least. She supposed Amara could have been heading somewhere else, but if she was telling the truth about actually studying, then the library seemed like a likely place to go. That also meant that this boyfriend might not even be there - which was a disappointment. All this effort could just be wasted, which had stalkerKhalla frowning in the shadows of her scarf.

Amaravati in fact walked the entire way to the library before she noticed that she was being followed. ... What the $#$#? Frowning, she stepped into the shadow of the building, turning swiftly to see who had dared to follow her. If, that was, someone had followed her, after all. But she was pretty sure someone had. She didn't like it, not one bit. Glancing around sharply, she caught sight of a rather familiar figure. ... Was that a blond dreadlock? Ohhh, Khalla!
Sneaky, sneaky thing. So, her roommate had taken it upon herself to follow her, huh? Hmmn. She was beginning to get an idea of what this was about. The fussing, the following... the questioning. Could it be that Khalla was trying to figure out who she was going to go see? And she wanted not to be seen doing so, so she thought that it was a taboo subject.
She thought about it for awhile, standing there silent, before she headed into the library. Suddenly, when the doors opened, it clicked. Oh. Oh! Khalla thought she was being abused! She almost burst out laughing then and there, but she was in a library, and one did not make a lot of noise in a library. Right. So, she probably thought that she was being hit, and stuff. ... Why hadn't she thought of this sooner? It had been so very clear during their argument. Now, how to use this to her advantage? That bore thinking on.

Khalla panicked as she lost sight of her friend for a moment. Where in the world had Amara gone? For a single moment she was left standing in the open, right in the sun, at the front of the building. She hadn't seen Amara slip into the shadow of the building so quickly. Then, her confusion passed as quickly as it came, because there was her roommate moving in the shadows, walking right through the door of the library.
Khalla had no idea that she'd been seen, not in the slightest, so instead she put a smile on her face and picked up her pace to chase after Amara instead. She squinted as the shadow of the building front covered her and made a quick beeline for the door. With a bit of a pause, she pulled it open slowly, peeking just her head inside to try and figure out which direction Amara had gone in.
If she lost her now, she'd have a hard time finding her in the rows and rows of bookcases. That, and it would be difficult to hide herself is she accidentally stumbled into the same isle as Amara. So she just squinted at the shadowy interior of the library, trying to find where Amara had gone without alerting her to her presence.
Also, completely oblivious to the fact that that she had already been found out.

Right, so... Khalla thought Amara was being abused. That was what her cryptic remarks and overwhelming concern had been about. As Amara limped along, she ran over the problem in her mind, trying to come up with a solution. She didn't want Khalla to follow her about like this indefinitely. Getting up in the middle of the night so that her roommate would not miss her was out of the question, and she really wasn't sure what to do about Khalla's suspicions.
Somewhere during her musings, she hit upon a potential solution. Aha! That was it! She would let Khalla 'find' her abusive partner (boyfriend, girlfriend, Amara wasn't picky!) and deal him or her justice. Or at least, she would let Khalla think that she had discovered the culprit. Maybe at that point her friend would stop following her around, and begin stalking that other person.
The only thing about it was that she would have to actually find someone now, and get them involved with the scheme. That was... more difficult than simply coming up with it. If she played her cards right, maybe whoever it was wouldn't even blame her for the trouble in the end. Maybe. But either way, she would be ready to handle it. She definitely did not want Khalla to discover her while she was hunting for starseeds. Making a quick turn, she headed up the stairs to the second floor of the Library.

Khalla frowned as she stepped into the library, glancing around her for even the smallest glimpse of purple. It was only as someone opened the door behind her and mumbled a slightly irritated 'excuse me' that she realized she was standing directly in front of the library doors - not a very inconspicuous move. With a quiet apology, she shuffled quickly off to towards the shelves at the back of the library - further and further away from the staircase that Amara had taken.
It only took her a few minutes to realize that she had completely lost her and that her friend could be anywhere in the library. Just as she was about to give up, however, she caught a glimpse of purple disappearing into an isle of books. Sneakiness somewhat forgotten, Khalla darted for the shelves in hope to catch up to her roommate. Only, as she darted into the isle she ran right into the purple-haired figure she had been about to follow - someone that was definitely not Amara.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" She squeaked out, staring up at a rather irritated looking man. The purple she had mistaken for Amara's hair was a scarf around his neck. With a sigh, she leaned down to pick up the book she had knocked out of his hands, handing it over with a few more mumbled apologies. Then she quickly excused herself from his presence and began to head back for the exit. With one hand, she reached up to drag her scarf from her head, her other hand fussing with the dreads for a moment.
She wasn't going to have much luck finding Amara here - and besides, how much trouble could she really get into in a library? She'd just have to follow her some other time and hope for a better outcome.
