Has anyone else read Truman Capote's murder classic? I had to read it several years ago for Language Arts class in high school. It was assigned to us over Christmas break. I couldn't put it down because it was so enthralling.

It's interesting to see how the emphasis switches from the murder victims to one of the killers. You get the vibe that Capote sympathizes with him by the end.

You know what? I never have read it. eek It sounds so good though, that now I want to go out and buy it. I'll be going by Barnes and Noble today ... but that money was supposed to go toward my car insurace and school tuition ... Darn decisions.

I'll have to get back to you on that, Fantasy. 3nodding

I spent a lot of time in my youth reading true crime books. ^_^ That particular non-fiction section of the library was my favorite haunt for the longest time.

Ooh, great read. Yes, there was absolutely that feeling that Capote understood these men enough to sympathize with them. Wonderful book. I got it after I saw the movie, which I suppose makes me a bad person.

Not at all. Sometimes I would be totally unaware of books if not for the movies about them! Gives me something to do while waiting for the film to come out in theaters or on video.

There's a new movie out called Capote which deals with how he went through everything to write this novel. It should be an interesting film to watch.

And, years later, this thread ties in so well with the book-to-movies thread on the main page. smile I love digging through the old discussions sometimes.
