[T] Elana's Tome

Whereas the other Children of the Tome have been having vivid dreams and mood swings, Elana and Ayden have been experiencing things a little bit differently due to their very special nature. The other Tales have merely been seeing flashes of prophetic dreams - the twins are living those dreams; should they dream of being injured, they awaken with that injury though the wounds fade within hours of their waking from slumber. Elana dreams the same things that Ayden dreams, and visa-versa. The difference is that their wounds are mirrored - Ayden may be wounded on his right arm, but Elana will awaken with the same wound on her left.

Not only are they showing "stigmata", but as time passes along, the twins have been steadily acting more and more withdrawn from their "authors", from much of daily life, and more and more interested in the other Tales. They will seem lethargic and uninterested in things that previously brought them enjoyment - the level of their disconnect seems to increase the longer they are out of the Tome - and only truely are energetic when around the other Tales, almost as if they were feeding off of their energy like psychic vampires. Also, when away from each other/other Tales for extended periods of time, the pair will seem to get "fadey" - as though they might dissappear.

Ayden is becoming more protective of the gentle Elana - she seems to be faring far worse than he is during this "down" time; but both Tales are starting to feel the pull of something far greater than themselves, something they feel they should be doing. Both understand, instinctively that they are too small for whatever purpose this is, and that there is not much that can be done...but that's about to change.

Each child finds their way into the Study again, drawn there by the Tome's silky soft voice calling them. When there, the Tome will whisper in their minds what needs to be done to set everything in motion. It will grant them a very handy ability as well - the ability to to actively draw energy from the others, but not without a price.


The Twins will have a slightly different growth requirement than most Tales. In order to grow, the pair need to absorb energy from other Tales. They do this on a small scale simply by being near the other Tome-born children, however the energy required to alter their physical states is much, much higher than casual contact will allow. Both Ayden and Elana will need to fufill 2 play dates one-on-one with another Tale, and 1 that involves both children. These play dates must involve some sort of close physical contact - or repeated physical contact. IE: Hugging, wrestling, playing tag, playing doctor.

Sounds simple enough, right?

Something to keep in mind: Doing this will hurt the other participant. Ayden and Elana will be draining some of their life-force, some of the magic that keeps them alive. The younger [read: newer] the Tale, the more of an effect it will have. Khali would be rendered hospital bound by spending much time in close contact with either child, but an older Tale like Rasik or Armel would merely be tired, perhaps dizzy and/or nauseated. Khiarhu and Linneas would simply be uncomfortable unless they spent a long time with the twins. (The length of time spent near the twins and the type of contact made WILL effect the energy siphoned.)

The twins know and understand this instinctively. Ayden will likely not be bothered as much as Elana will - he is not nearly so gentle or caring as the little angelic is.
